As a preface to the overall setting, the realm was made by four deities named the Creationists and is watched over by other godly beings called Ancients. They created mortals and wildlife to inhabit the new earth. In the midst of eons of exploring, learning, and growing as a realm, the humanoids were hit with a calamity in the form of a hungry, destructive wave of dark, unholy creatures they called Deimons. After centuries of upheaval and rebuilding the world, Konístra is now ready to open its doors for new writers to plot the course of its fate.

Shape the realm, or let it shape you—adventure is in the wind and it looks to all who are willing to answer its call.

⠀⠀» THE WORLD
Konístra is broken up into seven main continents and has six main bodies of water. For simplicity's sake and clear understanding, Konístra has similar seasons, weather, atmosphere, flora, and fauna to our Earth, unless stated otherwise. The world is roughly the size of Venus, just slightly smaller than our Earth.

⠀⠀»
DEITIES
The pantheon of Konístra is divided into the Creationists, the Salient Seven, and several lesser gods that rule over their own specific domains. While these are the true gods of this realm, there are still multiple other religions and groups that choose to place their faith elsewhere.

⠀⠀» TECHNOLOGY
The majority of Konístra operates on early 17th-century technology, and in most cases, magic plays a vital role in almost all the realms' advancements. Technological advances and availability are more bountiful in densely populated areas (megacities, capitals, etc.) as opposed to smaller towns and villages.

⠀⠀» SPELLWORK & MAGIC
Nearly all of the Konístrian population is aware of the existence of magic to some degree. While some nations or regions have created edicts to limit the dangers of those who would utilize magic for misdeeds, there are still a number of institutes dedicated to the expansion and further study of the arcane and its many uses.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⊱ 𝙚𝙭𝙩𝙧𝙖

⠀⠀» CALENDAR & EVENTS
The Konístrian year lasts 350 days over the course of 10 months, each 35 days long. There are normal seasons and traditions that belong to each continent and country. So far, there are 15 official holidays that are recognized worldwide.

⠀⠀» EDUCATION & TRADES

⠀⠀»
KONISTRIAN ZODIAC
A detailed overview of the most recognizable constellations in the Konístrian night sky and what they represent. Believed by astrologians, a person's personality, strengths, and weaknesses can be predicted by using the constellation they were born under.

⠀⠀» REALM QUIZZES
A small collection of personality quizzes that pertains to the setting and world lore of Konístra.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⊱ 𝙬𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜

⠀⠀» QUEST BOARD
In the realm of Konístra, stories never stop writing themselves, and the world is constantly changing. There are plenty of opportunities for adventurers, merchants, bounty hunters, and those who look to explore the expansive lands. Here are some potential starting points for adventures set in Konístra.

⠀⠀» ARTIFACTS & MATERIALS
Due to the abundance of wild magic and arcane users within Konístra, there are plenty of mystical and mysterious artifacts and materials that can be found throughout the lands. Standard artifacts are obtained through normal quests. Consumables (potions, spell scrolls, magical herbs or items) can be obtained repeatedly through special quests.

⠀⠀» ROLEPLAY OPPORTUNITIES
If you need a storyteller/GM for your quests, feel free to also send me a PM, and I can serve as GM for you! Never hesitate to reach out to me via PM for any other plots/story ideas for Konístra, as well.

Konístra is roughly the size of the planet Venus and is broken up into seven continents and six main bodies of water. The overall population of the world amounts to approximately 5.8 billion in number. It consists primarily of humanoids { humans, elves, dwarves, half-orcs, tieflings, etc. } with subgroups compromised of fey and races descendent from deímons.

Konístra is in its 15,837th year World Time (WT), though it is colloquially referred to as 837 AF (After Fall).

⠀⠀» INHABITANTS
Konístra's humanoids, creatures, and beasts are open by design, meaning while continents have their own bestiaries, players are not limited to these. Hybrids and unlisted races are completely okay as long as they adhere to the overall fantasy theme of the setting.

⠀⠀» LOCATIONS
The many metropolitan centers of Konístra are structured as massive, sprawling mega-cities that stretch out into the boundless and dangerous wilds, leading to countless towns and villages. There are multiple landmarks, settlements, islands, businesses, and camps located between labeled locations that are uncharted on the map above, leaving it flexible and open to add more to your stories easily.

⠀⠀» LANGUAGE
While each continent makes use of its own languages, a constructed trade speech named Uní was designed to bridge communications between people who do not share a native tongue. It is employed most commonly by those with international dealings, such as trade, diplomacy, and criminal enterprise. Uní sounds like Romanian.

TIMELINE OF KONISTRA

intro guide to konístrathe world • timeline • lore indexquest bulletinextra information

23db67b7541003ee50e54ee41bb1c0d2ca4ed7b0.pnj

  • AGE OF ANCIENTS ; timeless

According to Konistrian lore, this was the time before life, great chaos rang out in the darkness, shining brilliantly in the form of a billion small star fragments. Amidst the emptiness, a handful of these shards combined and churned themselves into a series of five, primordial, heavenly bodies: the Earth, Sky, Sun, and Moon.

    AGE OF STONE ; unknown

A time before order, when Konistrians kept to their own continents and islands and tried to figure out their new world. Eventually, many undocumented wars were fought and the very beginnings of magic on the planet were being explored. It is unknown how long this age lasted.
    PLATINUM ERA ;

The world became more organized, with systems of government and trade agreements between the many diverse lands.
  • AGE OF ENTROPY ;

After the fall of the heavens, Konistra found itself in a disorganized, chaotic age, where every continent was for itself. Pirates sailed the seas, new deimons roamed the lands, trade ceased, governments were crumbling, and many feared for their lives.

    AGE OF REDEMPTION ;

Organization was found again and the chaos ceased as things began to go back to the way they used to be.

DEITIES OF KONISTRA

23db67b7541003ee50e54ee41bb1c0d2ca4ed7b0.pnj
⠀⠀⠀

In the chaos of strange, teeming energy in the vast expanse of darkness, five primordial bodies began to take shape. Four of these sentient beings willed themselves to develop new forms, expanding upon themselves and the power they respectively came to wield. The fifth body was unable to form on its own, which ultimately came to be molded into the planet later known as Konístra.

The four deities responsible for the creation of the realm are called the Creationists. The sentient inhabitants of this world have also given a name to the gods and goddesses born of magic, faith, or Creationists afterward: the Ancients.

CALENDAR & HOLIDAYS

23db67b7541003ee50e54ee41bb1c0d2ca4ed7b0.pnj
⠀⠀⠀

The Konístrian calendar is split into ten months, each one thirty-five days long. The calendar was created around the sequences of the world's two moons; the cycle through the first, larger moon, Ketros, is 35 days long, thus the length of the month. The cycle of the second, smaller moon, Ulvara, is exactly 350 days long, thus the length of the year.

Spring begins mid-Rainswrath, officially starting on the 17th. Summer solstice lands on the 35th of Midyear, celebrated with the Festival of the Sun. Autumn begins mid-Harvest, on the 17th day. Winter solstice lands on the 35th of Dusk, celebrated alongside the Festival of Moons.

The seven-day week begins on Avarmera and continues as Letharmera, Invidimera, Medimera, Iramera, Epulmera, and Amormera.
⠀⠀
⠀⠀holidays ;
NEW DAWN CELEBRATION⠀—⠀Dawn 1st
Commemorating the new year and new beginnings. The day is often honored by revisiting memories of the past year, letting go of old things, and completely cleaning the home. This is usually a time when people make new goals for themselves, believe in fresh starts, and move to put plans into action.

VIARA'S DAY⠀—⠀Ostaros 12th
A celebration of love, friendship, trust, and sexuality. Honored by offering homemade gifts and sweets to loved ones, as well as showering your significant other with wholehearted affection. Since Viara is also the god of fertility, it is believed to be lucky or blessed if a child is conceived on this day. Special offerings are commonly left for the god on this holiday.

DAY OF MENDING⠀—⠀Ostaros 31st
Celebration to better one's community and strengthen the bonds between townsfolk. It has become a tradition for folks to freely offer their goods and services to the community. The primary tenet of the Day of Mending is that old grudges and quarrels are set aside, if only for the day.

FESTIVAL OF THE EARTH⠀—⠀Rainswrath 17th
A celebration for the Creationist, Atlas. Often honored by working in the garden, planting new seeds, spending time with nature, and sharing spring fruits and baked goods with neighbors. Floral and herb wreaths are made and put up during this time to bless the home. Salvaged stag antlers, pressed flowers, and seashells are often left as offerings.

HERITAGE DAY⠀—⠀Rainswrath 24th
A day in which everyone remembers where they came from and pay respect to their families, relatives, and homelands. People are encouraged to get in touch with their roots on this day by meeting relatives, rekindling bonds with family members, and visiting where their ancestors came from. Cathedrals across the world lend their support on this day via many forms of magic such as free scrying and the like.

DAY OF THE ARTS⠀—⠀Veris 13th
A celebration where every form of art is honored. For months before this day, humanoids all across the continents prepare songs, plays, dances, paintings, sculptures, and many other forms of art to either put out on display or sell at large gatherings. On this day, offerings are commonly left for the Ancient of art and self-expression, Lynessa.

FESTIVAL OF THE SUN⠀—⠀Midyear 35th
A celebration for the Creationist, Dysmas, on the longest day of the year. Honored with huge bonfires, fire dancers, and fireworks. There are plenty of feasts with spicy foods and cold sweets made with summer fruits. Generally, a day full of fun by incorporating fire, warmth, and light into their life. Common to light candles at dusk so they may burn through the night.

FAIRE OF THE SEA⠀—⠀Heatswrath 10th
Primarily a coastal holiday. Fishermen bring back their bounties of fish from the day not to sell, but to prepare for a massive feast. Everything is eaten that night, from the fish, seaweed, and clams—even the saltwater is boiled down to be drinkable, comes from the sea. It is in honor of the way that the ocean is important to almost every aspect of Konístrian life.

FESTIVAL OF THE SKY⠀—⠀Enar 25th
A celebration for the Creationist, Araceli. Often honored by opening windows to allow fresh air into the home, dancing in the rain, cloud-watching, or flying large, intricate kites. Coastal cities set out thousands of sailing vessels to utilize her winds and skyships are kept grounded in respect for her open skies. Sweets like ambrosia, cotton candy, and cream puffs are almost always eaten on this day.

DAYS OF STILLNESS⠀—⠀Harvest 1st - 3rd
No one goes outside or opens doors for three days, worldwide. In remembrance of the Fall of Eireen, when deímons were first set loose upon the material plane and how towns barely escaped total destruction and death by staying locked within their homes. It is a tradition for current-day deímon-hunters to set out on grand group hunts for the vile creatures during this time.

NEYTRIS' FEAST⠀—⠀Harvest 19th
A celebration of the year's bounty and giving thanks to the Ancient of hunt and harvest, as well as honoring those who toil in fields and gather food. There are large feasts made from the season's crops and produce; meals are often shared around bonfires and gratitude is often openly expressed toward others on this day. Traditionally celebrated in the Empire, southern Ineru, and Vroiya.

FIRST FROST⠀—⠀Mabuhm 6th
This is the day when frost usually comes through the central and eastern continents. If it occurs early, that is a sign of a grey, dreary winter. A late frost means a harsh, bitter winter, and if the frost comes on the right day, Mabuhm the sixth, it is a sign that the winter will be mild and bountiful.

HEARTH CEREMONY⠀—⠀Mabuhm 18th
To honor the inevitable darker, colder months, it is a tradition in the central and eastern continents to put out and clean your hearth. Massive bonfires are then later lit in the night and celebrated around. Folks take a light from this communal fire to ignite their newly swept-out, individual hearths, which are then kept going throughout the period of darkness.

FROST'S PEAK⠀—⠀Dusk 11th
A day when families and clans gather together for a grand dinner and trade gifts. Aside from an abundance of food shared around, there are plenty of winter-themed decorations and many activities and games for people to enjoy. Customary to put the elders/patriarchs of the family on a bit of a pedestal on this day, depending on the clan.

FESTIVAL OF THE MOONS⠀—⠀Dusk 35th
A celebration for the Creationist, Kallisto. This is the longest night of the year and when both moons are full and at their peak; it is bright enough that it doesn't seem like night ever falls. Often honored by staying awake the entirety of the evening, singing and dancing under the stars. Fires are not lit to allow both moons to have their time to shine, and feast foods are often decorated with lunar shapes and stars.

KONISTRIAN ZODIAC

23db67b7541003ee50e54ee41bb1c0d2ca4ed7b0.pnj
⠀⠀⠀

Surrounding the planet of Konístra is a large belt of star-filled heavens—divine creations of the goddess, Kallisto. While there are dozens of constellations, the ten astrological signs of the zodiac are some of the most prominent in the night sky, each equally occupying 36° of this great circle. By determining the constellation you were born under, astrologians use this information to understand who you are and predict the type of person you will grow to be.

⠀⠀CONCH⠀—⠀Dusk 13 - Dawn 12
⠀⠀LOTUS⠀—⠀Dawn 13 - Ostaros 12
⠀⠀BELL⠀—⠀Ostaros 13 - Rainswrath 12
⠀⠀SPHINX⠀—⠀Rainswrath 13 - Veris 12
⠀⠀WILLOW⠀—⠀Veris 13 - Midyear 12
⠀⠀PEGASUS⠀—⠀Midyear 13 - Heatswrath 12
⠀⠀CHIMERA⠀—⠀Heatswrath 13 - Enar 12
⠀⠀DAISY⠀—⠀Enar 13 - Harvest 12
⠀⠀TORCH⠀—⠀Harvest 13 - Mabuhm 12
⠀⠀MINOTAUR⠀—⠀Mabuhm 13 - Dusk 12
⠀⠀
THE CONCH.
Dusk 13 - Dawn 12

Those born under the constellation of the conch shell tend to be laid-back, caring, considerate, and enjoy happiness. These people adapt to change easily, are tolerant and optimistic, and do not fear facing difficulties and problems. A bit materialistic, but this is motivation to work hard. People born under this zodiac can also be immature, simple-minded, and not very financially intelligent. Can often be reckless and don't fully think before acting.

Strengths: good-tempered, kind-hearted, positive, and loyal. Weaknesses: gullible, slow-paced, and self-indulgent.
Associated with the element of water, platinum, pearls, and the colors lavender and sea green.
Compatible signs are the Daisy and Chimera. Conflicting with the Lotus and Bell.

THE LOTUS.
Dawn 13 - Ostaros 12

Those born under the constellation of the lotus flower tend to attract others with their mysterious character and graceful behavior. Calm and thorough, always carrying out plans from beginning to end. These people have a strong sense of responsibility and have clear goals for their life. They don't allow others to know much about them and they usually keep things to themselves. Great speakers and deep thinkers, but sometimes stubborn and overconfident.

Strengths: generous, introverted, perceptive, intelligent. Weaknesses: indifferent, possessive, suspicious.
Associated with the element of air, iron, carnelian, and the colors red and purple.
Compatible signs are the Torch and Sphinx. Conflicting with the Daisy and Chimera.

THE BELL.
Ostaros 13 - Rainswrath 12

Those born under the constellation of the handbell tend to have magnetic personalities; adept at fitting in with others and easily adopting the moods of those around them. These fast learners are easily bored if they are not getting enough mental stimulation. Their mischievousness, curiosity, and cleverness can sometimes make them naughty, either playfully pranking or teasing others. Although they don't have bad intentions, their jokes sometimes hurt other people's feelings.

Strengths: sociable, intelligent, adaptable, humorous. Weaknesses: indecisive, impulsive, braggart.
Associated with the element of kaos, quicksilver, agate, and the color yellow.
Compatible signs are the Minotaur and Daisy. Conflicting with the Chimera and Sphinx.

THE SPHINX.
Rainswrath 13 - Veris 12

Those born under the constellation of the sophisticated sphinx tend to be intelligent, great communicators, organized, and have a good sense of foresight. Strong self-respect and seldom relying on others are their basic characteristics. However, they tend to lean towards perfectionistic tendencies and are picky about others' shortcomings, which may come across as rude despite their good intentions. Will often tell the truth even if it hurts.

Strengths: quick-witted, observant, intuitive, independent. Weaknesses: impatient, captious, blunt.
Associated with the element of earth, quicksilver, sapphire, and the colors navy blue and beige.
Compatible signs are the Minotaur and Torch. Conflicting with the Pegasus and Willow.

THE WILLOW.
Veris 13 - Midyear 12

Those born under the constellation of the willow tree tend to be reliable, protective, and loyal to a fault. Cautious by nature, they give themselves over to relationships slowly, but once your friend, they'll be so forever. Will drop everything to come and help those they care about. These people are honest and critical, but will often hide when they feel worried or anxious. Can sometimes be quick to criticize without fully grasping the entire measure of a situation.

Strengths: patient, loyal, generous, diligent. Weaknesses: sensitive, conservative, stubborn.
Associated with the element of air, copper, smoky quartz, and the colors pastel green and indigo blue.
Compatible signs are the Daisy and Chimera. Conflicting with the Torch and Sphinx.
