A Dark Magical World (Story Thread)
Welcome to this world thread. The purpose of this thread is to expand and explore the various characters and locations that will take place in this world. If you see something in this thread that you would like to use for your own stories or adventures, you are more than welcome to do so. This thread will be edited and expanded on as the story develops and is subject to change at any given time. It will be edited by myself and the co-author of the story which this thread represents. Please do not post on this thread unless you are actively taking part in the story presented.​

The World

This modern world is remarkably similar to our own world and current on the time frame. (Minus the covid-19 pandemic that is currently taking place.) The major difference between this world and the real world we live in today is the addition of mystical and magic creatures including but not limited to magic itself which will be the focus of this story. Demon's, Fey, Shifters, Vampires, Magic-Users, and other such creatures can exist in this world, however, they remain hidden and cloaked from the general public. In the eyes of the common people, these creatures do not exist.

There are rumors that major governments have discovered and are actively working with some of these creatures however nothing concrete has ever come out regarding this and what articles have been written are often dismissed as wild conspiracy theories or accuse the author of ridiculous claims of fantasy with no grounds in reality itself. Needless to say, no one has ever taken these reports seriously and not many would, even when confronted with the hard truth of it. Most people would attempt to rationalize something that could not be understood. Seeing a Vampire for example would be rationalized as a highly disturbed individual who was acting like a Vampire from television or books. No one would ever think that a true Vampire was standing before them.

Magic has taken a particular interest in this disbelief and works extremely hard to keep these ignorant viewpoints as popular as possible. While they do not police other species and doubt that some even exist, they do police their own classification of people and assure that they remain hidden. This is particularly true when dealing with public magicians who start making a name for themselves. While the mundane population dismisses these fantastical acts as tricks and illusions. Many of them were true users of magic and vanished into obscurity or died during a particular action because of the direct interference of other magic users. Publicly showing magic to the outside world is highly illegal and always comes with strict consequences to avoid the public from learning about the truth of the world. It is believed that other creatures behave similarly in this regard and police their own.

The art of magic is an overly broad and open concept. Being limited to one's imagination rather than a strict set of guidelines. There are as many types of magic as there are people to use it. While many groups have gathered to teach universal magic and help set foundations for what magic can and cannot do. The real power of magic is limitless and can accomplish things that are ever-expanding. No one truly knows how far magic can go and what it can accomplish. A general belief is that magic is a tool leftover by The Gods for mankind to explore.

Another common belief is that magic is the source of all things supernatural. While some people follow this belief there is no solid evidence to confirm this ideology. These people believe that magic created the world, the people, and the various creatures in it. This includes the supernatural community and all the mysteries surrounding them. Other popular beliefs include that magic is a result of human evolution and that eventually, everyone will have the ability. Some extremists believe that those who can use magic are not human and have come here from another planet. Whatever the truth of the matter is there are a lot of beliefs surrounding it and the truth of the origins of magic is not known.

Magic does follow some rules however and these rules are unchangeable. The first rule is that all power must come from somewhere. It does not suddenly appear; the magic-user is more of a conduit that takes power from something and then reforms it into something else. To expand on this rule a few examples should be given. Let us say for a smaller example that someone wanted to make a flower bloom. To accomplish this, they would need to draw power from something else then force the power to conform to their will. Life energy is the most generic form of this exchange. Giving the flower life might cause a few blades of grass to suddenly die around the users' feet.

Other forms of power can be used aside from life energy, such as a flowing body of water or sunlight. However, it is far more complicated to use this style of energy and uncommon to find someone who does it. Life energy is extremely powerful compared to other forms of energy, the more of it you have the more powerful the magic can become. Taking someone's life for example could be equal or greater than a small or medium bomb. This is a poor example but should be broad enough to explain how the transfer of power works.

Every individual user of magic excels in a particular style of magic. This is often based on how they were raised and what their true personality and behaviors are like. Some styles of magic include the healing arts, transportation, materialization, telepathy and telekinesis, necromancy, physical magics, Illusions, nature and environment, and much more. The point is that each individual person will excel in one area above the rest.

Magical Organizations!

There are many different organizations of magic users. Some have real power while others cling to the slipping hope, they can do even the most basic of spells. There are also groups that have dedicated their lives to finding magic users and educating them to use the power they have correctly and safely so that they can live full and happy lives.

Council Of Mages

One of the most well-known and powerful groups among the organizations is the Council. These magic users are extremely powerful and dictate the use of magic in the open world. Robbing a bank for example with the use of magic would cause the Council to get involved. Acting like a typical magician then using real magic on stage in front of others is another action that would garner their attention.

These individuals are highly dangerous and are respected by the larger community as the leaders of magic users. They have an exceptionally low tolerance for those who expose them or use magic against the public. It is widely believed that they have magic hunters and police-like forces at their beck and call and will kill violators of their unwritten rules rather than talk to them.

The depth of control this group has over the world is unknown, but they are a worldwide organization. These are the boogie men that haunt the dreams of unruly magic users who think their power gives them the right to do anything. It is also believed that they have continued to influence the political world at large and have even started and ended wars when it suits them. While it is not uncommon to see a council member walking around. It is uncommon for them to become involved in affairs that they consider beneath them. They have a kill first ask questions later reputation and because of this people tend to avoid them at all costs.

Free Users or Outcast

This group can be referred to in many different ways. They are typically extremist that practice magic without having a formal education in it. They can often branch off into other groups but typically have ideologies that do not match up with mainstream views. Some of these groups can be extremely dangerous and are often confused for devil worshippers and other types of modern-day cults. Then there are some that consider themselves pagans or Wickens and have a carefree love for the world.

Regardless of their views these groups are extensive and can often cause problems when there should be none. They are still subject to the universal rules of magic and fall under the Council to make sure they are enforced. Because most groups do not have a wide understanding of magic in a traditional sense a lot of mistakes happen as a direct result of these people.

Mages

This is another broad term used to describe any magic-user who has been formally trained. Mages can go on to form various groups designed for different purposes but if anyone refers to a person as a Mage, they are typically referring to them as a magic user that has a formal education.

Places of Interest

This section is subject to change but will provide a brief description of the campus grounds and what each building does.

Admin:
Admin Building.jpg
The Admin building is located near the center of the campus. The Dean's office is located in this building along with many staff offices. Aside from providing general information to students it also provides classes, financial services, human resources, and other services that students would typically require.

Main Hall:

This building includes the majority of classrooms and offices for professors. It also houses a small cafeteria for students that do not have time to go to the main area for lunch. There is also a general assembly room in this building.

Library:

The Vanderson Library is one of the larger buildings on campus and includes many books that cannot be checked out but used on the grounds. Many of the magical books within this building are protected by magic to prevent them from being taken and there are rumors that the library is able to track any book checked out. It contains many references and magical text for students to use. There are always several librarians on site all of which seem to have an unhealthy obsession with the books.

Science:

A facility designed for magical sciences which includes many different classrooms and offices along with labs designed to handle the experimentation of magical science arts. A substantial number of inventions are made here.

Healing Arts:

This is one of the more popular locations. Designed for students to learn the healing arts it is filled with classrooms, offices, and a medical center in the back, referred to as Health Services. Nearly all students will need to visit this building at some point and those that specialize in this field will often spend the majority of their time here.

Staff H.:

At Vanderson University most staff are required to live on-site. Professors and other members of the staff are assigned small rooms in this building. Unlike dorms, this building is several floors high and set up as a small apartment complex providing privacy and personal space to each member who lives here.

Mental Arts:

Like the Healing Arts building, this area is designed and specialized for students that excel in mental disciplines. While all students will visit this building at some point those who focus on this area tend to stay here and learn everything they can. Aside from typical classrooms and offices, there are also relaxation rooms, focus rooms, and a large meeting area.

Mage Tower:

This impressive tower looks fairly small from the outside, however, it is rumored to be extremely large on the inside. The tower is almost always locked and is only opened by a special invite for specializations that are outside classification. There are many rumors about this tower including some about having dungeons and summoning circles within.

Gym & Physical Arts:

This is one of the larger buildings on the campus. Aside from being a specialized area for students that study physical magics. It also includes classrooms, offices, a swimming pool, a gym with the athletic court, locker rooms, a weightlifting room, and other such services.

Nature Arts:

The Nature building is one of the oldest buildings on the campus. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful buildings as well surrounded by an abundance of nature. So much so that it literally climbs up the walls of the building itself. Within is a vast garden of life. There is no classroom that is without plants and other parts of nature. All students will go to this building at some point but those who specialize in nature will stay here and focus on it. It is said there is an open field behind the building where students go to freely enjoy the joys of nature.

Battle Grounds:
These areas are designed to teach combative magics and allow duels between students. They are set up very much like a tennis court but designed to withstand extreme spells that might otherwise damage the surrounding areas. There are also large battlegrounds in the back that are private. If schools have competitions with one another this would be the area they would do it.

Athletic Field:
A large legal-sized track and field. Surrounded by a running track and various stadium seats. This area is used for everything from football to soccer or other school athletics like cheerleaders practice and so on.

WD/ED:

The Dorm buildings are set up exactly the same. The West Dorms and the East Dorms were a mixture of students and while male and female were mostly separated there was overlapping. Each Dorm Building has advisors and floor monitors. The dorms are extremely small having one single wide bed on the left and another on the right with a desk in the middle and closets on either side. Restrooms and showers are all considered public use and shared with the floor. No student is allowed private dorm rooms and is always partnered up with a roommate. There are shelf units above the beds for personal space and a dresser inside the closet.

The Testing Center is one of the most intimidating buildings on the campus grounds. Any individual test for acceptance into Vanderson University is conducted here. There are also private offices that are used to segregate students that do not pass. There is a large meeting area in this building that is designed to welcome the students and private testing rooms which can be used when taking or retaking University tests.

Cafeteria:

This area has several booths set up that provide unique styles of food at various prices. There are the main lunch lines then specialized ones broken up around the main area. It is clear that a great deal of funding has gone into this area as students would be hard-pressed not to find something they wanted in this location. What they do not offer is universal fast food service chains, like McDonald's and Pizza Hut. They do have hamburger areas and pizza areas, but the quality of food is much higher.

Sororities & Fraternities Buildings: Behind each Dorm are two buildings designed for Sororities and Fraternities for students.

General Grounds: The surrounding areas of Vanderson University are absolutely beautiful. There is a mixture of small walls, flowers, gardens, grass areas, paved walkways, and more. The entire campus was designed to invoke a feeling of comfort and peace when someone moves from one area to the next.

Early History of Vanderson University

Vanderson University was established in 1832 in Upstate New York. Those who have graduated from this school have often gone on to have illustrious and successful lives in society. The University itself is hidden in plain sight within the city. A well-designed illusion to a large private apartment complex sits over the top of the interdimensional section which leads into the campus area. This amazing feat of magic was set up by the founding members of the University after which all records regarding the school were disposed of.

Thick and powerful wards have been set up around the surrounding school to keep it hidden from civilians so that random people cannot enter the campus. In order to get on the grounds students and staff members are required to have a key and their id which they then must present at one of the various gates and guard stations around the school itself.

Originally the University taught Americans exclusively but over the years they have expanded that to include multicultural students and professors from all around the world.

Combative Magics

Battle Magic or Magic intended for combat is taught at the school. However, it is restricted to senior-level students and closely monitored. Any student found using combative magic on the grounds without permission is severely punished or outright expelled and reported to the Council of Mages. This particular school of magic is the most monitored style of magic out of all styles.

Other Universities: There are a number of magical schools and educational programs littered across the world and the states. Vanderson's biggest rival school is one located in New Orleans. Whenever this school visits there is sure to be chaos that ensues as the two have been bitter rivals for well over a decade. They have also won the last three battle magic competitions.

Spells Used
This section is not extremely important. It will be used to keep track of spells and styles used throughout the story. Magic is limited only by someone's imagination so this area can become very large.
  • Healing Magic (Necromancy / Divination Magic)
    The only known use of this spell at this time was the healing of a wounded cat that had been seriously injured with broken bones. – Power lines, and the surrounding area was used for a power source.
  • Materialization Magic (Transmutation Magic)
    A 24k gold Pada Figure was created from nothing. – Internal Energy Storage was used for this spell.
  • Levitation Magic (Alternation Magic)
    Used at a party, - The energy source for this mage was internal storage
  • Light Magic (Illusions)
    This has been used several times, creating a small blue light in darkened areas – Typically internal Energy Storage is used to complete this task.
  • Fire Magic (Illusions)
    This magic was used at a party creating a running horse out of the fire and a flying hawk. – Life Energy was used to complete this spell

    Wards are extremely common and most all mages will use them to help prevent mishaps with other mages and prevent mental magic from working on them. - These wards use natural energy and require a continuous light flow of it. (internal storage)
  • Commune with Nature (Ritual style magic)
    This spell allows the user to commune or (limitedly speak to nature) While any communication needs to be deciphered as it is not as clear as speaking to a person. This can be used for directions or even questions such as. "Did you see this or that." - This spell can be used with natural energy or life energy to get a more clear conversation.
  • Unlock (Transmutation)
    Using this allows simple locks to be opened. - This spell requires natural energy and life energy would likely cause it to go out of control as that much power is just not needed.
  • Languages (Ritual style magic)
    This spell uses Life energy, it will allow the mage to understand and speak any given language for about an hour. Natural energy is not enough to power this spell and life energy must be used.
  • Demon Summoning (Conjuration)
    Not a lot is known about this type of spell. It requires malice in the mage to even attempt it. Life energy is used but as part of a sacrifice rather than channeled. It cannot be done by accident, anyone casting this spell would know what they were doing. This is a very dark and evil intended spell.
  • Counterspell (Abjuration)
    Typically uses Natural Energy, quickly using this spell will allow the mage to counter another mage attempting to cast a spell in their direction. The same type and amount of energy or more need to be used for this to work.
  • Control Fire (Abjuration)
    Natural Energy normally, Allows the mage to control natural fire, such as forming it, directing it, fueling it, extinguish it. With this, the mage can also create forms of creatures and objects in the fire.
  • Control Water (Abjuration)
    Typically uses natural energy, The more energy the mage uses the greater control and amount of water they can control. This includes shaping water, redirecting the flow of water, causing floods, causing whirlpools, parting the water.
  • Control Air (Abjuration)
    Typically uses natural energy, The more energy applied the greater control. Typically allows the mage to control gusts of wind, downdrafts, updrafts, while it is possible to use this spell to slow downfalls or lift objects and people off the ground, The air is not stable enough to effectively fly or feather fall this is why there are other spells for this reason.
  • Animal Shape (Transmutation)
    Natural Magic is common however Life Energy is used for mystical or magical creatures. Remember to place a time limit on the spell. Allows the mage to transform into various animals and take on their abilities while in that form while maintaining their own mental state. Fish, Birds, etc. These shapes can be as large or small as the animal itself and cannot be altered from the natural form of the animal the mage changes into.
  • Animal Friendship (Enchantment)
    Natural Magic is normally used. Allows the mage to befriend an animal and calm it down stopping hostilities and often creating a familiarity or friendship with the beast. It does not allow control or communication.
  • Speak with Animals (Divination)
    Typically uses natural energy, life energy might be needed for magical animals. The mage gains the ability to speak with and comprehends animals. The animal in question is still subject and limited to its intelligence but can be communicated with freely. Either verbally or mental communication is established, and both the mage and the animal understand and comprehend one another's words.
  • All Seeing Eye (Divination)
    Typically uses natural energy, Requires verbally spoken commands - "I call forth the All-Seeing Eyes. Tear a hole into the sky, Reveal to me that which is hidden, unveil to me what is forbidden." Followed by the target of the intended spell. Open's an eye like a portal that allows the mage to see and hear the target, It is one-sided meaning only the mage can see and hear through this. Stronger mages and spells can detect the presence of this spell.
  • Alter Self (Transmutation)
    This spell uses natural energy, It allows the mage to take on different forms and has a limited duration. Special features of those forms will function like having gills that will allow the mage to breathe underwater. They can change every aspect of their appearance, eyes, height, weight, facial features, voice, hair, etc. anything they want and it will be a flawless transformation. This spell when used on stronger levels will also allow natural weapons, claws, spines, horns, fangs. Because of this, it can be used to take on the appearance of other supernatural creatures very effectively.
  • Conjure Animal (Conjuration)
    Uses Natural Energy or Life Energy, It allows the mage to summon an animal from nothing. This can be any type of animal that they have knowledge of. The animal will appear and is friendly to the mage and will obey verbal commands issued to them. If Life Energy is used the mage will instead summon a fey animal that is very real and has all magic and abilities associated with that creature. This animal will remain for as long as the mage wishes it to or until it dies.
  • Knock (Transmutation)
    This spell uses Natural Energy for normal locks and Life Energy for magical locks. The mage can select any object from a door, box, chest, manacles, padlocks, or anything else that is locked and cast this spell which will unlock it. If the object is magically locked they need to use life energy but it will have the same effect.
  • Feather Fall (Transmutation)
    Natural Energy is used. The mage cast this spell and slows their descent down to that of a feather taking no damage regardless of height. Once the mage lands the spell ends.
  • Fabricate (Transmutation)
    Uses natural energy, the mage uses this spell to create objects of the same material being used. For example, creating rope from a bundle of hemp, wooden planks from regular trees, clothing from wool. As long as the raw material is present this spell will allow it to be formed into an object of the same material. Making wine from grapes and so on.

Magical Lessons
Because magic can be complicated in this world some of these lessons do help understand it better. This section is designed to help keep those lessons in order for quick reference.
  • Transference
    This lesson included learning how to transfer a controlled amount of Life Energy from one location to another without killing the subject or object of the mage's attention. (Example - transferring energy from a living plant to a dead one and stopping at just the right point where both plants remain alive and well.)
  • Alternative Energy
    Focused on learning how to harness other forms of Energy other than Life Energy. (The strongest and easiest but most deadly and dangerous) It teaches the student that all things have energy and that can be used for weaker spells. (Example – A flowing body of water can be used to store energy or create objects)
  • Internal Energy Storage
    This spell allows the user to create internal storage where they can hold natural energy. This is a complicated spell that requires both hand movements and Ancient Latin to perform and it also needs to have Life Energy to be effective. Only Natural Energy can be stored using this method.
  • Warding Magics
    Using this spell allows the mage to protect themselves against various spells and other magics. There is a lot of different style of wards all requiring a continued flow of natural magic from the mages internal energy. Wards such as Mental, and Magic resistance but there are also wards to protect against harsh weather and things of this nature.
  • Ritual Magics
    This type of magic can use either natural energy or life energy depending on the spell. Its main difference is that it will always require movements, words, and typically materials to use ritual magic. It can also include complex symbols or other such things and can be quite complicated depending on the power of the spell being cast.
  • Transformation Magic
    While this school encompasses a lot of things, it was taught in a Specialization class focused on natural magic and nature. Focusing heavily on animal forms. It was said that a time limit needed to be applied to the spell and detail on the intended animal needed to be obtained in order to take on the shape.
  • Magic Schools

    Conjuration Magic
    This type of magic deals with creating objects, and creatures.
    Examples of power levels.
    Low Energy – Familiar, or summoning small animals
    Mid Energy – Summoning Spirit guardians or Conjuring Elementals or Larger Animals
    High Energy – Summoning Planer creatures / Demons / Fey etc.

    Necromancy Magic
    This style of magic is about manipulating the ebb and flow of life and death.

What is BDSM?

BDSM is a specific kind of kinky play, involving activities like restraints, sensory stimulation, power dynamics, impact play, and fetishes to name a few. It's important to remember that the foundation of BDSM always includes consent and safety. Typically, things like pain and servitude are considered unpleasant but, when these things are agreed upon by adults with the intention of invoking pleasure in a safe way this is BDSM. To break it down a little B.D.S.M. stands for a few acronyms, the B and D stand for Bondage and Discipline, the D. and S. stand for Domination and Submission and the S. and M. stand for Sadism and Masochism or Sado Masochism.

BDSM covers a wide variety of activities, relationships, and fetishes that will fall within the category of these six words. While it is similar to kink, however, BDSM is not sex, and it doesn't have to be sexual. People can engage in BDSM, and it doesn't have to lead to sex at all. However, sometimes BDSM can hold a very sexual charge and the act of it can feel very erotic making it an effective tool to heighten your sexual experience. I want to express that BDSM is not based in abuse or violence it is a controlled practice with a deep understanding of a person's limits and desires. These limits and desires can be discovered with communication and experimentation between the two parties.

While BDSM can involve some risk it should also be noted that risk can also be an essential part of the thrill, but safety is always the primary focus, and this can be improved through practice, knowledge, and technique. A lot of people believe that BDSM is only about power and pain, but this isn't true it really is much more than this. For example, A Dominant and Submissive style BDSM, which is quite different from Slave and Master styles, the main focus of this style while based on control and power does not include objectification or animalization. In this role, the dominant enjoys assuming the role of power where the submissive is happy to relinquish that control.

While it's true the dominant appears to have the power the submissive shares that power because it is them who chooses to submit. In this situation, it's important to know when the submissive wants to submit and how much the submissive is willing to submit. For example, If the Dom required the Sub to kneel then ordered them to do this in front of their family members they may choose not to allow that form of dominance at that time and refuse to submit. Because the choice is always involving their free will this style of BDSM revolves around a type of give and take relationship. These kinds of relationships also revolve around the idea of servitude, where the Dom will set certain rules for the submissive to follow or might require them to complete certain tasks. These rules and tasks are usually negotiated between the Dom and submissive and then go from there. A submissive would then comply in order to please their Dominant. This type of servitude is typically a positive outlet for the Sub because now they have a way to fulfill their need to serve or to please without having to place themselves in that situation with strangers.

So being dominated doesn't only have to happen in person or during a particular scene which is what people refer to when speaking of a sexual act involving this lifestyle. It can include being dominated over the phone or even on the computer and provide the same satisfaction that one might get if that Dom was standing directly in front of them.

It's important to remember that while the Dom will engage in sadism which is the art of inflicting pain to his masochist who should find some enjoyment out of it. Pain limits should always be respected. This really is where most people struggle because this will take the most trust. If the Sub is bound and or gagged and the pain threshold reaches it's limit they need to be able to trust that your Dom will stop or acknowledge their action and or word if they are able to speak. This type of trust is exceedingly rare because being scared isn't sexy and it isn't fun. However, if that trust is given and they can push through that nervousness trusting that their Dom will stop if things get out of line, it can bring a level of pleasure and excitement that is almost impossible to reach because it is so rare to put that kind of trust in someone.

To understand why receiving pain might actually be pleasurable you have to understand that it can release endorphins and even cause a state of euphoria. This can also be referred to or compared to the same type of rush someone might receive when they go Parachuting or bungy jumping. So, one of the things the Dom and Sub should do is communicate after they have explored a scene. It's important during this time to express themselves and explain if there was something they didn't like. Because their relationship can grow and evolve as time goes on. Some of their limits might expand to include things they simply were not aware of or something they just really didn't like. As a Dom, it's important that they respect these things and make sure that they are both still enjoying themselves. Another thing they need to establish is a safe space. What that will be is an area where they don't have to be subjected to their role as a submissive, this space of theirs will be off-limits for their lifestyle. Perhaps they just had a bad day, or something happened and they are not in the right mindset to really perform their role correctly and don't want to be punished for failing. This safe space is where they would go. That doesn't mean the Dom can't go and speak with them it just means the person won't be their Dom when they do or asking them to perform tasks while they are there."

CONTRACTS

A BDSM Contract is typically a written agreement between the Dom and the Sub. If written correctly they can be legally used in a court of law for the duration of the relationship but should not be confused for a legally binding document.

Not everyone in this lifestyle uses Contracts. It's really a personal decision, though it can be very helpful in defining a relationship and what is expected and acceptable during that relationship. This can often avoid strenuous legal suits that could arise should the relationship dissolve.

The contract should typically include discussions where the Dom and Sub can negotiate what has been written out and agreed on. At which time they should review what they will and will not accept and make necessary changes when needed.

Contracts while not legally binding are often respected and viewed with a symbolism that could be equal or greater than that of a typical marriage license or other contracts of similar importance.

Some ideas that should be included in contracts are…

* Responsibilities of each person
* Sub's Veto right and power to refuse Dom's commands in certain circumstances
* Soft & Hard limits which should always be as detailed as possible
* Privacy and confidentiality

EQUIPMENT
It should be noted that not all tools will be described here and no vampire BDSM tools will be spoken of or supported as it does not work for the story and is not generally considered safe.

The Riding Crop


This is really the go-to item for anyone stepping into BDSM. It's also a great item to use on someone who is new to this both in using and receiving. The riding crop can be described in three parts. The Grip, which is typically a rubber, plastic, or leather grip which may or may not have a wrist guard. The Shaft, or Middle of the crop. A lot of people suggest that this section can be used as a cane. It shouldn't be, it can easily bend and break and damage the effectiveness of your crop. The Tress or head. This is the end of the crop and is by far the most important part of it.

There are many types of crops, but the most important aspect of these is the Tress. Depending on the thickness, style, and strength of the Tress the experience will be extremely different. For example, a thin wrapped piece of leather can be used for sensual activities and would have a very faint slap if used. Where a thick firm solid piece of leather would have a much more direct slap and would be less forgiving against the skin. There are specialized crops like rubber Tresses, but these tend to hurt quite a bit and wouldn't be recommended for users.

The next thing to know about the crop is that only the wrist should move when striking with it. There should be zero to low arm movement as all your power will come from the wrist alone. (It's not baseball.) As well only the very tip of the Tress should be used, not the section where the Tress is connected, and the shaft and the Tress meet.

The riding crop is quite safe but there are some areas that should be avoided, such as the face, groin, stomach, and spine. Generally, you want to avoid these areas anyway as it is not a pleasant experience to be struck there but there is an exception to every rule. Finally, you'll want to try and focus your slap in a single area until you've received the desired effect then move on. Rapid little strikes in a bunch of different areas will not have the same effect. The crop should only be lifted off the flesh slightly before being reapplied. Using hard strikes with arm movements causes all types of problems that would take a lot of time to get into.

Paddles


There are only really two parts to a paddle, the handle which is where you would grip it, and the blade which is the part that would be used. There are a massive variety of paddles and attempting to cover even a quarter of them is infeasible. They can provide a wide range of different feelings and sensations depending on how it is used and the style that is used.

The intensity of the strike and sensation will strongly depend on the size and the material the paddle is made out of. Wood and leather are the most common but there are many styles including electric and plastic ones. There is also textured paddles which will add anything from small metal studs that are rounded to the blade or extreme versions which could be large ridges. Having a hole in the paddle can also change how it feels as the hole can remove air resistance and cause the paddle to have a much stronger strike than a flat-based blade. All of these styles can change the type of mark it would leave behind.

The weight, size, and texture will apply a lot of thud-like effects to a paddle, versus a paddle that is light, smaller, and thin or leather will give a lot of sting to the strike. Using a paddle isn't very complicated, if you can swing it, you're using it. You should avoid using the sides as that kind of focused strike can cause damage. Safety-wise paddles are best used on the bottom or outer thighs, smaller paddles can be used on inner thighs and such things. Of course, like most tools it should not be used on the stomach, face, spine, or thin areas like feet and hands.

Floggers


This is a more controlled tool. The Dom really should be paying close attention to what they are doing when they start using floggers. There are a ton of types and lots of ways to use them but only a few will be discussed here. It's also important to note that a flogger IS NOT a single-tailed whip. They are vastly different and have quite different results and the two should not be confused.

Floggers have several distinct parts, the first being the handle or grip. This section should be easy to hold and often covered with something to help maintain the grip, so it doesn't slip or fall out of your hand. There are also normally two knots on the handle one at the top of the grip and one at the bottom of the grip. These act as counterweights to the flogger itself. Not all floggers have these though it's recommended you use them. There is typically a loop or hanger on the bottom of a flogger, and this is used to hang the flogger up. It's important to hang the flogger rather than let it bundle so that the end doesn't bundle up and crack, get damaged or bend. The top of the flogger or the ends of it is typically referred to as the falls. The falls should always be roughly the same size, thickness, and length. The very tip of the Falls is what will really change the feeling of the flogger. A soft leather rounded tip is going to have a softer feel to it. Where a spiked or forked tip is going to have more sting and bite to it.

The thickness and quality of the Falls can also change the feeling of it, generally thicker will have more of a thud to it where thinner falls will have more of a sting to it. Also, the number of Falls will have an effect on the feeling, a lot of falls will have a heavier feeling where fewer falls will have more sting to them. There are also small handheld floggers which are about the size of your hand not including the falls. These tend to be very thin, on the falls and because of that, it can be an extremely strict pinpointed area of contact with a prominent level of sting to it.

It is also suggested that a flogger is never longer than the user's arm. It's okay if the flogger is shorter though can require more discipline to use. But the length of your arm is about as long as you would ever want a flogger to be. Based on the length the control can change pretty dramatically the weight can also contribute to this so make sure the flogger can be properly handled before using it.

When using a flogger, you really only want to use the last bit of the falls, about four to five inches or three or two inches on smaller ones. (Remember this isn't torture.) How a flogger is used can change the experience for both people dramatically. One of the reasons you use the end of the Falls is to avoid wrapping. Which is something you really need to avoid. Striking an area and letting the end of the flogger wrap can cause a loss of control, increase pain, injuries, and other such things.

When throwing the flogger (striking) you really want to have a loose arm and only use your wrist. You're not throwing a baseball or swinging a bat and the speed at which, you swing the flogger in a forward or back motion can really change the feeling that you're inflicting with it. There is also the figure eight style of flogging and a cross style. A really important note here, you want to avoid striking bones, the areas that you can easily wrap the flogger on, and thin areas. Typically, you would throw where there is a lot of meat or muscle tissue however this would not and should not include chest areas as the bust can really get complicated with deeper impacts. Always avoid the spine, face, and bones.

Canes


These can come in assorted sizes and styles. That will change how the cane is used and the effect it has when used. Some canes have handles and some do not being a simple cane and leaving which end to grab completely up to you.

Typically, the longer a cane is the harder it is to control. So, when holding a small, thin cane you would want to use your finger up along the grip as a full strike is not needed and you can get a lot of swing and feedback from just moving your finger back and forth. Smaller thin canes can be used in the groin area though as always, you'll want to have a high level of control here.

Most canes will have some bendable aspects to them and are flexible even larger 3' canes with ½ inch thickness are still flexible though on a large cane like that you would really need to be careful as you can do a lot of very real damage. Typically, when using a cane, you're only going to use your finger, wrist, and sometimes depending on how hard you want to strike your elbow. You shouldn't be doing full arm strikes it's just too painful and dangerous. With caning, it's really about precision and location. They can be very intense and leave an exceptionally fine red mark.

When caning you should only be using the end of the cane about three or four inches. Canes are flexible and because of that, they can wrap. If you're trying to strike both sides of the bottom at the same time you would, of course, use more of the cane but again this is something, you'll want to watch as they can wrap which is something you need to avoid. When preparing your strike, you really don't want any angles in your strike and should come at it straight on with a locked wrist. You'll want to do taps usually small rapid strikes for a quicker and more intense feeling like a punishment you'll do a longer strike pulling back more but keep in mind these can hurt quite a bit. Lastly, you'll of course want to avoid thin areas and stick to thicker sections of the body. Thighs, bottom, upper arms. The cane really isn't something that should be used on the back, or chest areas of course always avoid the spine, face, and other overly sensitive or easy to hurt areas.

POSITIONS

There are a number of positions that a submissive or slave could take. However only the ones that will be used in this story will be discussed here. This area like others is subject to change as more is learned.

Positions are standard poses that a Dom will teach their submissive or slave or bottom. They are intended to be memorized while they prepare for the next command. They are typically used during training and can result in punishing or rewarding them based on if they perform them at the right time and or are performed correctly. Below is a list of some of the popular positions that will be used but they are not limited to these.

As a side note, everyone has different limitations, as a Dom, these limitations should be considered, and some leniency should be shown while the submissive is getting used to the new position. For example, there might be a position that exacerbates an injury or the submissive will just not be flexible enough to perform the position. In these cases, the position should be modified or outright removed. Know your sub's limitations and work with them. Remember that wearing high heels and being forced into a position will almost always make it more difficult to perform.

Kneel


Legs together bent at the knees, feet laid out flat, straight back, palms down mid-thigh, chest lifted to expose bust.

This is the most common position a submissive should take. Kneel shouldn't be difficult to perform or maintain. Wearing heels can make this position extremely difficult to maintain but not impossible.

Kneeling should be as common as sitting down. It is the first and last thing a submissive should think of when with their Dom. Kneeling is required at times to perform other positions like Nadu. Kneeling shows patience and respect and a submissive can be left in this position safely for an extended amount of time. Unless otherwise instructed this should be the default position of a submissive. For example, entering a room and moving over to their Dom. If their Dom suddenly stops and remains still for a prolonged amount of time. There are other times a submissive would take this position, but these are the two most common times unless openly instructed to kneel of course.

Nadu


Leg's bent at knees from kneeling position, Legs spread slightly past shoulders to expose center and show openness, Palms down on mid-thighs facing up, Head downcast.

Nadu is a great starting point when training a submissive. This position is easy to learn and works with kneeling. In order to take this position, the submissive must first kneel then take Nadu. Nadu shows a willingness to submit and open subservience. This is a great position for a submissive to take while preparing a scene or bondage. If a submissive openly took this position without being instructed to do so it might be an indication they desired to play, or they wanted to submit to something a little more kink-oriented.

Humble (Submit)


Kneeling forward, face down, resting on elbows, Hands crossed at wrist stretched in front of submissive, Legs spread just past shoulders, Backside should be slightly lifted.

Humble should be quite comfortable and can be remained in for longer periods of time. Heels do not overly affect this position. While in this position the submissive will not be able to see what you are doing. This position can put the submissive in a relaxed state of mind and is easy to tease or swat the submissive in. The submissive does not need to kneel before taking this position. This position should be ordered and not assumed.

Collar (Leash)


Kneeling in Nadu, Hands behind head, Chest lifted, Neck exposed.

This position has several names but is quite common. It is often used when a collar is being put on or a leash is going to be used and attached to said collar. Often you can see other submissives or slaves performing this position for long amounts of time in corners at public dungeons or a play party. A submissive might assume this position if they know you are about to put a leash on them, or they are receiving a collar. This position can also be ordered for a various number of reasons.

Inspection


Standing position where slaves Legs are slightly apart, arms are behind the head like Collar, Back is straight, Chest is lifted.

This can be a very useful position when inspecting a submissive, or if you want full access to their body while they are standing. It should be suitable for longer periods of time however assure the submissive is not locking their knees.

Wall (Brace)


Standing Position, Hands crossed at wrist and placed flat against a wall fully extended, bent at the waist with bottom fully exposed, Legs spread wide, back straight, Head up.

This position is a fantastic method to prepare your submissive for paddling or other forms of pleasurable pain. Being braced against the wall will allow the submissive to take a thud much easier and brace for the impact. A submissive should not take this position without being instructed to do so. This position can be difficult to maintain in heels, because of the width of the legs a submissive should not be left in this position for a long amount of time.

Service (Wait)


Standing Position, Hands crossed in front of groin, straight back, looking straight ahead, legs close together.

This position is used typically when a Dom wants the submissive to wait or kneeling isn't an option. For example, you wouldn't want a submissive to kneel on a nasty floor. Wait is a suitable option. This position like Kneel should be a default and the submissive should take it when waiting for their Dom. This position is easy to maintain and can be held for prolonged amounts of time. Assure the submissive is not locking their knees.

RULES

Rules have a number of purposes, there can be a few rules or as many as hundreds or even thousands. It really depends on the type of D/s relationship you have and what the two have agreed on. Sometimes rules can micro-manage a submissives life to the point they are told when to sleep, when to wake, when to eat, and so on. Other times rules can be used as guidelines that add a level of excitement to the relationship. It's very rare but some D/s relationships (or any variety of top and bottom.) can have no rules of any kind. This typically only happens when dealing with kink instead of a lifestyle, but it can happen.

Typically, when a submissive gives power to their Dom there are rules that will enforce that authority over the other person. When breaking these rules discipline and punishment will follow. Which isn't always a bad thing. Enforcing rules is a good way for a Dom to express their power or control over the submissive and can establish clear guidelines that they want to set.

It is a fact that Submissives have a considerable amount of power in a D/s relationships and because of this rules should never be assumed and always be discussed making it clear what is expected and what the two parties agree to. Once a rule is set there can be priorities in case two or more rules conflict with one another but a rule should never be randomly changed. Remember the Submissive and the Dom should have these memorized and if they are changing randomly with new expectations confusion and frustration can result. A big part of Submission is feeling helpless or controlled, rules can help with this. However, rules should always have consequences if they are not followed. Without consequences, you don't have a rule you have a suggestion. Punishments will be discussed in another section. Because there are so many types of rules, only the rules being used in the current story will be posted here. They will only be used as a reference and will not include graphic descriptions that are not suitable for this section on the forums.

  • Safe Words / Safe Gestures.
    If the submissive needs to stop, needs directions and is not okay or something is unclear. They should speak up immediately or use their safe word or gesture to indicate there is a problem.
  • Sir is a title.
    When asking a direct question or making a clear statement. Sir should be used. For example, "Should I do this all the time or only in the privacy of the home? Sir!" / "I need to get some sleep. Sir!" This rule shows submission and respect for the power dynamic.
  • No Negative or Self-degrading talk.
    The submissive is an important person in the Dom's life. He chose the submissive and speaking negatively about themselves is not only insulting them but the Dom as well.
  • Never be ashamed!
    The submissive should never be ashamed of something that excited them. Both parties should have an equal interest in what is and is not fun. A submissive should be free to openly express something that they want to try or that excited them without fear of judgment or retaliation.
  • Clothing is not optional.
    Entering into the private home of the Dom, the submissive is to remove all clothing except for their undergarments and neatly fold them at the side of the door before proceeding into the house. Unless otherwise instructed this should never be skipped.
  • Acknowledgment.
    The Submissive is to stop whatever they are doing no matter what it is and acknowledge the presence of their Dom, anytime they enter the area the Sub is currently in. This Acknowledgment can be anything from "Hello Sir, to something more extreme and is entirely up to the submissive performing it.
  • Anal Plugs.
    Each day for one hour, the submissive must enter the play room and select a plug that they wish to use. Then wear it for one hour and no less than this. They are allowed to wear it longer but this must be performed every day for one hour. They are permitted to do other activities during this time, go outside, sit down, clean, etc.
  • Be Thankful!
    The Submissive will, show their thanks after various activities. Anytime they have an orgasm (Even if randomly during the day.) They are to stop and say Thank you. After a spanking or punishment, they are to give thanks for what has happened.


Of course, additional rules will be added as they are given and learned. This area is subject to change, but the rules are not unless both the submissive and the Dom agree to do so.

COLLARS

Collars are one of the most important aspects of a D/s relationships. Because there are so many types of collars, and they can have such a wide variety of meanings this section is only going to focus on how collars are used in this story. It will also only address the collars that will be used.

The collar is a physical representation of the relationship that the submissive has found themselves in. It clearly denotes their position as a submissive and often holds significant importance that would be equivalent or greater than symbols such as engagement rings, wedding bands, and so on. Most submissives will view their collar as even more important than this and this value should not be underestimated by the Dom. Or used against the submissive. In a more mundane manner imagine if a husband demanded his wife remove her wedding band because he was upset. This kind of thing just doesn't happen and shouldn't happen in D/s relationships either.

Most collars have practical uses as well and because of this have unique features that make them viable for other things aside from simply being an item to display. Most people involved in a similar lifestyle will respect the presence of a collar and are aware that it denotes the submissive has a Dom and is spoken for.

Training Collar


Aside from showing the submissive is in a steady relationship it can also display their level of understanding in the lifestyle they have chosen to enter. Training collars are typically quite plain in appearance and often have a single metal loop located in the center. Which allows the collar to be bound to a rope or leash. A training collar should not be confused for a bondage collar they are not the same. These could comparatively be shown as a promise ring to the submissive.

In this story, a training collar is designed to allow the submissive to get used to having one on. It is their choice to wear this in public or not, and they should not be punished for deciding to hide this from their public lives. Should that be the case they should immediately put the collar back on when they enter into the private area or residence where their freer to express themselves.

Permanent Collar


Like the training collar this is a clear indication of the status of the submissive and also reflects their knowledge of the lifestyle they have chosen to enter. A Permanent collar should be the driving goal of a submissive as it is a clear indication that they are bonded for life and committed to each other unconditionally. It is equivalent to or greater than a wedding band.

Permanent Collars tend to be more publicly acceptable and often have some kind of display on them to make them stand out. From designs to full names. Some though not all have loops for a leash, but this collar should not be used as a bondage collar as doing so could cause serious injury.

Permanent Collars are often accompanied by a variety of rules and rituals that are performed when receiving them. It's a very important aspect of their relationship and a memorable moment in their life. Some rules include not being allowed to remove the collar unless bathing or showering or dealing with water or something else that could damage it. Not all collars can be damaged by water. This is particularly important when dealing with leather collars as leather can become damaged, brittle, and or shrink when subjected to water. This is also something the submissive should clean themselves and take care of yet another reflection of how they view the importance of this piece.

Bondage Collar


These collars are typically a bit wider than the other two. They have several thick metal loops located on them and are used when performing various types of bondage to secure the head and neck. Bondage collars will replace a submissives collar temporarily while they are involved in the scene and should be removed afterward as they are not very comfortable and prevent free head and neck movement.

Bondage Collars are most often seen at public events and parties or kink events where others have gathered. They still indicate that the submissive has a Dom and often show that they are ready to play or get involved in a scene.

PUNISHMENT

The first thing that will be addressed is that punishment has different meanings for different relationships and styles. This term is as universal as the style is, so a D/s version of punishment would be quite different than an M/s or S&M relationship. Because of this, the subject described herein will be directly related to what punishment is for the purposes of the story it's being represented in and not as a whole.

Punishment should not be something that invokes fear and or horror. As established when most people were young and were punished the love of those who punished them didn't fade or falter. The long-term effects of said punishment also should not have impacted the lives of the individual either. There is no doubt that regardless of the relationship punishment will happen, from an infraction on set rules to behaving improperly or doing something they shouldn't have. Punishment would follow, often a submissive might seek to be punished simply to incur a stronger form of discipline than they might otherwise receive, or because they want to test their Dom. There are some general rules that are followed when preparing and performing a punishment, these rules should be both on the Submissive and the Dom.

  • The action should be immediately recognized and acknowledged by both parties. A Dom should not be saying things like. "Remember yesterday when you did this? You need to be punished for that." This is a sign of a bad Dom, and unfair to the Submissive. Immediately acknowledge the action that is going to lead to punishment.
  • The Submissive should be allowed to speak and explain themselves if necessary. There could be a reason they didn't do something that the Dom is or was unaware of. For example. "Failing to kneel the Dom may have failed to see glass on the ground."
  • Absolutely no punishment should ever take place when the Dom is upset or angry. Emotions are dangerous and should never be allowed to run out of control. If the Dom is upset do not punish the Submissive and instead walk away and breathe until you get your headspace right.
  • Finish the Punishment. Being punished can be quite erotic, it is easy to get sidetracked and forget the reason the scene was taking place. Follow the punishment through to its conclusion or it has no meaning.
  • Make sure that the Submissive understands why they are being punished, do not suddenly make things up or change the rules. Not only is this unfair to the Submissive it's a true sign of a bad Dom. The rules should never change and the Submissive should have a clear understanding of what they did wrong. For example, if a submissive knelt and you suddenly decided they shouldn't have, this is a sure sign you shouldn't be a Dom. They need to know what they can and cannot do and if you are unsure of those yourself don't expect the Sub, to suddenly understand them for you.
  • In order for a punishment to be effective, the submissive must also want to change their behavior. Communication is important because if the Submissive doesn't feel they have done something wrong, punishment is pointless, and the issue needs to be addressed differently.
  • All previous limits and safe words/gestures should still be effective and work. Do not ignore a Submissive using their safe word or saying they don't like something.
  • Punishments should be agreed on, not forced. If the Submissive did something wrong, make it clear that they are going to be punished and allow them to agree. Failure to do this is abuse, not BDSM.
  • Aftercare is still required even after a punishment. If you've followed the previous rules, then your head should be clear enough to realize that aftercare is necessary even if the punishment was only emotional or psychological.
If punishment is given a Submissive might feel guilty for failing to meet the Dom's expectations. As established earlier this is not acceptable. A submissive will never be able to maintain all conditions at all times and punishment is bound to happen. Acknowledging they did something wrong and accepting their apology is fine, allowing them to feel guilty over the situation is not. There is a clear difference.

There are different styles of punishment, and these should be changed up to prevent the sub from taking advantage of the method they prefer.

  • Physical punishments are the most recommended methods and can include Belting, Flogging, Whipping, Spanking, Paddling, and more It should also include something with it such as saying they are sorry after each spank or thanking the Dom. Not just straight physical punishment.
  • Uncomfortable Positioning is another common method. Assure the position is safe but having the comfort of something leave is quite common. For example, having a Submissive kneel on rice or in the dirt.
  • Cold Showers is an acceptable method of punishment reminding the Submissive that they are subjected to something uncomfortable but knowing it will not harm them, in the long run, is the goal.
  • Psychological Punishments are also quite common, such as having a Submissive stand naked in a position like Wall Brace or walk into a corner and stand there like they are in time out.
  • Not being allowed to look into their Dom's eyes for a short amount of time or prevent them from speaking to the Dom is also a form of Psychological Punishment.
  • There are Humiliation methods as well, like having a submissive publicly display themselves or referring to them as something else for a short time, like "Little Liar, or Stupid Sub." There are of course other methods of Humiliation, but they should not be confused for play, or challenges, like removing undergarments while in a skirt. This is humiliation but minor and more of a challenge than a punishment. Changing their collar to something with a derogatory term on it is more suitable for this kind of Humiliation.
  • Taking away social media or the internet, television or sweets are also good ways to punish a submissive. There are other social actions that can be taken such as preventing Submissives from talking to their friends are using a phone however, these methods are not used in the current story.

Welcome to a short description of the Fey Wild that has been presented in our running story. It is important to note that while our story is modern it has a very fantasy-like aspect in it. You should also avoid confusing Dungeon and Dragons Fey Wild and The Plane of Faerie with ours, they are not the same. Please enjoy the read, but do not post in this section. It is intended for reference to our running story. Thank you, everyone.

The Fey Wild is a reflection of its sister plane the Fairy Planes. Unlike those which tend to be peaceful, friendly, and filled with fantastical tales often retold in fairy tales. The Fey Wild and its inhabitants can be very cruel and very brutal. They place self-interest and personal power above all things and the act of weighing another's life before doing what they desire is often not considered at all. The Fey Wild is a land of chaos and complete freedom. Its lands can be anything from enchanting forests to dense jungles and vast deserts. Like everything else its environments are chaotic and randomly change depending on the location.

The Fey Wild has unique unchanging aspects about it. One of the most startling aspects would be the sweetness of the air. This is ever-present as if standing in a candy factory, no breeze or strong wind will change this. Every area in the Fey Wild has a sweet almost honey-like smell to it. In addition to this their water has the flavor of sugar water, and because of that much of their vegetation and wildlife also contain this sweetness. The inhabitants of this plane, have grown so accustomed to sweet things that anything lacking this can often taste rotted or foul to them.

The Land is ruled by Two Queen's who contrary to how it may appear are not evil nor good. Like most creatures, they do what they want, when they want, but happen to be the strongest Fey on the plane and because of this have been declared Queen of their respective areas. At any time the Queen's can be challenged for their position though it is highly unlikely they would be dethroned by force as the Wild provides them additional gifts or abilities because of their exalted position. The Summer Queen or Queen of Light is known to run the warmer months and anything the light touches. Her nature tends to be whimsical and outwardly friendly. However as she is known to spend months among her people providing various gifts to improve their lives, she is also known to severely punish those same people for minor infractions, such as misusing her gifts, being ungrateful, or failure to show proper respect. Her punishments have included creating new Fey from failed hunting parties, to decades of torture. The Winter Queen or Queen of Night is known for her manipulation and ability to charm her subjects. Her nature tends to be blunt and direct but often fair and honest. Her cruelty however often involves forced enslavement to permanent polymorph's which leave the offenders as a common household item or animal. The two Queens do not fight and typically get along well, coming together every two years to wager lands, slaves, riches, and more on something they created called the Fairy Games.

In addition to the two ruling bodies known as the Queens. There are also Ten powerful Fey Lords which are considered under rulers of the Fey Wilds. Like the Queen's they can be challenged at any time and often are. There are also ArchFey but they are recluses and very little is known about them. Also, like the Queen's anyone becoming a Fey Lord is gifted abilities by the Wild, that amplifies and solidifies their positions. In addition to assisting in the ruling of the Fey Wilds, Fey Lords are often given small pocket planes which they refer to as their private realms. While not large enough to sustain a plane like the Fey Wild, these realms are significant in size equal to roughly the size of a small planet. They are also highly customized to the Fey Lord themselves and their particular gift.

Important Notes

  • Time – The Fey Wild is not at the same time as other planes and because of this it is almost impossible to enter into it. How much time passes is completely chaotic and totally random. One day could be a full year on earth, while the next could be no more than a few hours, another could be a month. There is no logic to the time zone and attempting to bring logic to it can often drive someone insane. There are backward pockets in the Fey Wild, these areas are as chaotic with time as the rest of the plane but move backward. Because this posed a serious risk to the Fey Wild and the Queen's many of these spots have been found and destroyed.
  • Influence – Staying in the Fey Wild is dangerous, the entire plane is chaos incarnate. If someone was to remain outside for a prolonged amount of time, the influence of chaos would gradually invade a person's mind. While not forcing them to do things, it would strongly affect the behavior, having a direct impact on their cerebral cortex which causes inhibited and inappropriate choices or decision processes to be impaired. It can also create a more talkative situation but higher functions of cognitive and rational thinking such as math or moral choices become more difficult to focus on.
  • Power – In the Fey Wild, the only real rule of law is that the strong control the weak. Because of this power and the perception of power is extremely important. While in human culture we see power as a status symbol in the Fey culture within the Wild power is a way of life. It is instinctive and natural for Fey to accept this.
  • Freedom – Because the only real rule within the Fey Wilds is the strong control of the weak, freedom is constant. In the Fey Wild, there are no social norms, no acceptable behaviors, no proper mannerisms. If you want to do it you just do, if you desire something you simply take it, unless power prevents you from doing so. While in human society this would lead to a very destructive and unsustainable lifestyle, being born into a structured society of rules and laws. In the Fey Wild, these concepts are foreign to them, and due to their being raised this way their instinctive nature is not destruction. As Fey are not typically evil or good. If they are hungry they eat, if they cannot eat they find something to eat. This is how the Fey Wild functions and it has survived but many visitors to this realm can find this aspect overwhelming.
  • Sweets – Because the environment is saturated with sweetness, sugar is in everything. Most all Fey within the Wild prefers sweet things. They are drawn to it, everything from their water to their air is thick with sweetness and this infects their animal life, plant life, and insects along with other creatures.
The Planes of Eternal Darkness

These lands are ruled directly by The Queen of the night or the Winter Queen. The lands are lush and filled with life but remain in a constant state of twilight. They are the location of where the Queen maintains her Kingdom. No Fey Lords live in this land, and instead, surround the outskirts of it.

The Lower Planes of Darkness

Ruled by the Fey Lord of Time, these lands are a desolate place. Filled with shards of broken glass like a rock that is black in color and near a mile deep. Because of the sharp and unforgiving glass rocks that cover this ground no life grows here at all, no trees, no grass, nothing. Unless a Fey fly's they would not likely come here, walking on the shards can kill and or seriously damage a person or creature, easily cutting to the bone or more. The sky is also different being completely dark, with no stars or light to speak of at all. Within this desolate land, there is a single Castle which is located near the center of this area. With over 300 rooms and a full wall surrounding it, the Castle has often been referred to as the prison of darkness.

The Forests of Sheelia

These lush beautiful lands are covered in a thick redwood-style forest with trees reaching heights far beyond anything on earth. Lush vegetation and wildlife live within these lands along with unsavory creatures like giants, goblins, pixies, and displacer beasts to name a few. The land is said to be ruled by the guardian of the gate. Rumored to be a half-minotaur half-giant. This is one of the few lands that contain the gates. Anyone entering the Fey Wild, be that by accident or intentional portal which typically fails. Would end up coming into the plane via the entrance gates. The Guardian's intention is to stop this from happening and prevent anyone from gaining additional information on how the gates work.

The Jungles of Tartuk

Geographically these jungles should not exist. They are more like a tropic rain forest, maintaining a constant 90+ degrees at all hours of the day. Unsuitable for travel this brush and unpassable roots make this a difficult area to traverse. There is a constant twilight to the area so being able to tell the difference between night and day is not possible. It rains often and is filled with many dangerous and wild creatures. The ruler of this land is the Fey Lord of Beast.

FEY CONTRACTS/BARGAINS

Among the fey, only a few are able to create a contract or make a true bargain that is accepted by the Wilds. What type of fey it is and its overall power will greatly change what it is and is not capable of providing during the bargain. This is known among the contractors as the hierarchy, these deal makers are as different as the population themselves and each one will have its own desires and intentions for offering such a contract. Below is an explanation of how these contracts work. This is intended as a guide and not a factual list of what can and cannot be done.

Details on bargains

Unlike demonic deals, verbal agreements are often enough to create a contract. However stronger Fey may wish to have a written agreement as well. Fey can be quite dubious and often lack a true understanding of souls. Many scholars believe that Fey in general lacks a soul which is why they do not understand them. Because of this Fey will often seek something more tangible in the bargain. While Fey contracts can often favor one side over the other they are not malicious in their creation, nor misleading. A bargain between a fey and an additional person will provide assistance to both parties and while not equal it is not deceptive.

Typically a fey will request something greater than what is being offered. Their request can be as chaotic as the land itself, ranging from taking the color from someone's hair to removing their youth or ability to speak. However, they will often default to removing a memory, or experience. As most fey can get confused about mortals and their lives they find lingering in moments that held strong emotions to that mortal a very pleasant experience. In this case, they may remove the memories and experiences of someone's first love, or kiss, the painful death of a loved one, or a grand victory that changed the person's life. Not realizing the devastating effect removing such an experience can have as most mortals are shaped by their experiences.

What a fey can offer in exchange for these things, is highly limited to the strength of that fey. A pixie for example could not vastly improve the memory retention of a mortal. Where a satyr could easily accomplish this. Keeping this limitation in mind some of the things Fey is often requested to provide are improved intellect, increased beauty, youth, strength, magic, knowledge, and so on. Additionally, the request can be quite particular to that individual, such as assuring any child born would be healthy and strong or changing the abilities and characteristics of an unborn child. It really depends on the situation and the fey being dealt with.

After the terms are offered and given, a determination is included which will cause the contract to end, and gifts or agreements to end and return to the original parties who provided them. What ends a contract can also be randomized and rather unpredictable. Such and not being allowed to speak on a particular day of the week, and if they did the contract would end. Or not cutting their hair and if they do the contract will also end. What determines the end of a contract is typically so natural that the contract is bound to end and this is done intentionally.

After this, it is quite common practice for the memories of this arrangement or bargain to be removed from the mortal who made such a pact. This is done for several reasons, but often it is to avoid being taken advantage of. For example, if a mortal requested that they gain the knowledge of advanced teleportation, they would also include that in return they will provide all memories of their time with the Fey Wild, they would then include a stipulation, that this contract would remain in effect until they cut their hair. The Fey may agree to this and then remove the memory of the bargain so that such knowledge would not remain forever and eventually the mortal would cut their hair and the contract would come to an end. Losing the knowledge of advanced teleportation but recalling everything that happened in the Fey Wild including the deal they made now that it had ended.

The final part of a contract is what constitutes a breach and the penalties for breaching a bargain. Most often the breech will include intentionally attempting to circumvent the agreed-upon terms set prior. They might also include attempting to locate the fey who made the deal as holding them in a prison or disabling them could prevent them from concluding the contract. If a contract is breached the consequences can be quite serious and apply to both the mortal and the fey, should either of them breach it. Indentured servitude for thousands of years is often an agreed solution, and to assure that this breach could be enforced the mortal might be temporarily granted ageless youth until the agreed-upon breach was upheld. What is important to note here, is that it is neither the fey nor the mortal that enforces the contract, it is often believed that the Fey Wild itself does. This is why the fear of immediate and lingering servitude is so frightening to fey or mortals alike.

However, because there are simply so many types of creatures. Instead, what will be provided is a list, with links that take the reader to the location where they can be researched.     There have been two different types of brownies that have presented themselves in the story so far. One was a goblinoid-looking fey brownie and the other was a human-like brownie. Showing a complexity to their race rather than a generic version.
  • Goblins
    Roughly the same as described in by the link, Goblins are different in their breeding and mating styles. They are brutal and vicious with an accelerated birth rate, that will last no longer than a month and no more than six months before it is fully grown and prepared to become a goblin warrior.

    Two types have been shown, standard wraiths and wraith lords which seem to have more intelligence and control over the others.

    In this story like Sylph's, Pixies are highly sought after and are considered to be very tasty. As such they are often hunted for this reason alone. Pixies are not born but created by the world magic, when one dies another form, if too much magic builds in an area Pixies are typically the result when that magic is expelled.

    These creatures are not like the standard Elves, house-elves reflect and are very similar to the Harry Potter series and bound to most of the same rules.

    Like Dryads they are highly sought after for breeding rights, nymphs only bare nymphs for children, and there are no exceptions to this. Unlike Dryads they are dangerous and will lure those who dare to hunt them into traps ending their lives. Under their beauty is a true form that is said to be even more beautiful than the form often shown. If not prepared to gaze at this form is said to blind the onlooker.

    Unlike Underdark Dark Elves or Drow, Fey Dark Elves or Under Fey Elves, are not born evil. They tend to be cruel and even mean or aggressive but only because they enjoy this and it is how they are raised there is no obligation for them to be evil, however.

    Unlike most Fey, Leonin tends to be highly territorial and extremely aggressive in their own land. Outside their land, they are easy to speak with. This is a race of very proud people, and anything they can do to show their power, strength, or position over another is almost always going to be taken. They are known to speak for talking animals as they have mutual respect for these creatures and do not look down on them as most Fey do.
  • Humans
    Most humans are frowned on in this world, there are a few that like druids are respected but more often than not humans are slaves, or servants. There are, however, no restrictions stopping a human from becoming a Fey Lord or Leader. In this world, the strong rule the weak and this is an undeniable fact.

    Unlike human's half-elves are always viewed in a discriminatory light. Especially half-dark elves, they have thinned their pure bloodline and are typically not accepted in either world, left to travel the wilds alone.

    Talking animals are often viewed as a joke or gimmick in this world. They will desperately try to form contracts or pacts with others in order to gain companionship and be treated fairly while they travel with their new friend. These creatures can come in any shape and size or type. No one knows how they are created or why but most view them as an annoyance more than anything else.

Fey Lords
There are 10 Fey Lords that rule the lands. These Lords are as different in personality as they are in race. Each Lord rules their own section of land and each Lord also has a private sanctuary or realm that they control completely. Lords are not all-powerful and still require permissions and or assistance from the Queen's. They do and often will War with one another, however. Fey Lords can be challenged at any time for their position, if they are killed or defeated another person or creature will take their place. None are immune to this law of succession.​

It is said when Walcott kills a person he wipes them from existence, because of this how many have ever truly upset him is unknown, because no one would remember them when he was finished. Walcott is extremely blunt and can often be considered rude because of this. (Does this make me look fat, = The outfit is not why you look like that.) His lack of tac, and overall failure to realize when he's being rude makes him very difficult to speak with. He is quite powerful and always ready for a fight careful of slavers and other threats that may see him as a useful tool. He does not lie but it's unclear if this is because of honor or because he doesn't realize he can. If the giants were threatened or were threatening someone else. It is Utkal that would be spoken to in order to resolve this as Giants rarely involve themselves in "little people" affairs.

Riften's personality tends to be blunt and or even aggressive at times. He hopes to maintain contact with Walcott and his staff while working on trade agreements and public relations between his people and their own.

The exterior of Velspring Castle
Lady Cassandra Velspring's castle remains mostly blocked off by a thick fog that envelopes all her land.
