MissPerception
Gentle Earthquake
This is a concept based on a dream I've had, also inspired by the two most recent albums released by the artist AURORA (I imagine the music being a part of the story, but it isn't necessary). It would be a sci-fi/fantasy set in a dystopian society where human emotions have been replaced by the hunger for logic, technology, and power...except for one last hope.
I wanted to go into more detail, but it was turning more into an introduction or setting description, so I will go into further detail if anyone is interested by the bare bones.:)
The Next Morning
In this universe, a piece of technology was invented centuries ago, the Stum Brain Implant. It enables the user to become a fountain of knowledge, with an unsettling--and hidden--side effect; the ability to experience human emotion is eliminated. It became a virally popular piece of technology, and took over the world in the most literal sense, until it became a mutual decision of the powers that be that everyone simply get the implant as soon as possible. As the years went by, some users noticed how differently people had been behaving, but met resistance each time they spoke up about it. Embers can still start a fire, however, and in the grand city of Besielis, the underground drug scene has become a worldwide sensation...and a major problem for those higher up on the ladder.
A group of rebel scientists started a small and secret research group, producing various substances that help simulate emotions within the user. They grew steadily over time, and got discovered and went underground, and they sell what they make to whoever wants them, preaching that emotion belongs to anyone with enough money.
Besielis is surrounded by one of the few remaining large forests in the world, left alone for long enough that it is still mostly wild and intact. Most of the planet has been devastated in the pursuit of technology, and it is barely clinging to life. The people say the forest is home to a very small tribe (no more than five people, and that pushes it for me) born of people who escaped the imposing stone walls of Besielis, implants deactivated by questionable means. Its been nearly a century since then, and occasionally, a wildly painted flash or a mask of twisted wood can still be seen flitting past the city walls.
(I have a basic plotline in mind, I'd need an antagonist, someone else to play the lead scientist of the rebel team, and probably at least another tribe member, as I'll be playing one.)
