To preface, I haven't done any substantial writing in ages and may be slow to reply. You have been warned.
My premise for a story is simple. A vampire is facing a problem they can't solve with their own resources. So, they've found a human with the needed skill set and coerce them into helping.
Broad, I know, but deliberately so in order to facilitate collaboration between myself and my partner.
The genesis of this idea comes from Barbara Hambly's 'Those Who Hunt the Night' wherein a retired intelligence officer is drafted by Vampires to help them hunt down something that is killing them by the day. It's a good time, and I recommend it accordingly.
On the Vampire side, supernatural might but a disconnection from mortal society and technology.
On the mortal side, competence and exceptional determination.
I want the pair to be uneasy equals. Despite the power imbalance, the vampire needs the mortal, and that is a power all its own.
Romance and sex could happen, but isn't necessary for me. What is needed is personality. I want our characters to explore each other, gaining insights on how the other half is.
I'm happy playing either side. I'm happy playing male or female.
