Hi there! I originally posted this thread in the wrong forum, so I'm gonna try it here. I'm trying to gauge interest in a role play idea I have.
So here's the basic summary:
For thousands of years humans have meddled with forces and beings beyond this world. They've done twisted, disgusting, horrendous things to gain power thru demonic rituals and bloodshed. But often times such evildoers don't go unpunished, and meet early deaths. Only they don't die— those who sell their souls to the devil aren't allowed even into hell, and must remain on earth, stuck in their bodies without a soul to bind them. These twisted spirits become what men know as Upirs. They feed on the souls of mortals to alleviate the excruciating pain of living while they are dead, and are granted a portion of the magical power they gained as necrotic sorcerers.
Upirs, unfortunately, are not the only undead threat; for the mortals they drain of life cannot pass into the realm of the dead. No, these unfortunate victims become physically altered, gaining superhuman strength and reflexes and razor-sharp fangs, they become vampires, draining the blood of their victims in order to obtain their life force.
Luckily for mankind, nature abhors infections, and created an antivirus of sorts to combat the twisted plague dark magic created. The children of these undead revenants are superhuman from birth, with all of the strengths and none of the weaknesses of their predecessors. Furthermore, these new, evolved creatures, known as Dhampires in the annals of mortals, have an inherent instinct to hunt and kill the undead, and are born with an extra 'gift'— a metaphysical aura that will sap any undead being of any stolen life force, deactivating their powers and, furthermore, allowing the Dhampire to "kill" them and send their spirits beyond the physical realm.
But is it really so simple? Do all undead truly deserve to die? After all, Vampires don't get to choose their fate. So should the fight be to kill the undead — or liberate them?
Here's some potential rules:
— a character can be any one of the races listed above, as well as a mortal (human) but no alternate races such as zoanthropes (animal/humans) or mystical creatures not listed in the summary.
— there are powers in this role play, but no op abilities
— No godmodding or other unfair actions
— smut is discouraged but romance/shipping is not
— foul language is discouraged
And here are the character builds:

And here are the character builds:
Upir: no physical enhancement, but must have 3-5 magical abilities. If you choose telekinesis, please have it be a very weak form of the power. Also, zoanthropy is a common power historically attributed to witches and the undead, so these powers are encouraged. (Zoanthropy is the ability to morph into other animals or take on their attributes.) Upirs are especially vulnerable to harm from conductive materials, as they siphon the stolen life force away.
Vampires: all vampires have very similar physical enhancements, including enhanced physical strength, metabolism, physical senses and reflexes. Note that vampires are the only class with fangs, and, besides obtaining life force by draining blood, they do not have ANY magical abilities. Vampires are susceptible to harm by contact with conductors, but not to the same extent as upirs. Vampires are generally pallid in complexion and have a major aversion to sunlight and UV rays.
Dhampires are not undead, but rather the living children of the undead. They possess all of the physical powers of a vampire (save for the fangs) and 3-5 magical powers, similar to those of a Upir. Dhampires cannot drain a mortal's life force, and when they use their aura to drain a revenant's stolen life force, they do not take it for themselves, simply release it or use it as a toll to kill the undead.
