Hello hello! My name is Shemby, Valerie or Val to those I know personally. I am a writer and roleplayer of a little over 5 years now, and, although I've grown a bit out of practice, I hold a deep love for roleplaying and creating stories with like-minded people.
Introductions aren't my strongest skill, but I'll do my best regardless.
As you already know, my name is Shemby, Val to my friends. I'm a 19 year old creature - it / its / itself pronouns, he/him if you must - with a passion for writing, drawing, piano, (amateur) coding, cooking, and many, many video games. I've been a creative soul since I gained consciousness, and I have a deep, innate drive to spread that creativity wherever I can.
While I often view myself as an inattentive, sometimes flighty individual, I do pride myself on my loyalty and desire to make those close to me feel loved. I do my best to be introspective and attentive to the wants and needs of those around me.
My interests can be described as a broad sort of spectrum. On the one hand, I have played piano for nearly my entire life, and it is a passion that I will continue to hold dear. On the other hand, I have recently begun the painstaking process of learning how to code, and I love it just as much as the other, more artistic elements of my life. There is a special place in my heart for the podcasts The Magnus Archives and The Adventure Zone, as well as the games Night in the Woods, Hollow Knight, Elden Ring, and a wide variety of rhythm games.
My music taste is also just as broad, and also a bit erratic. Some of my favorite artists include Lapfox Trax, Camellia, Imperial Circus Dead Decadence (My all-time favorite band), Goreshit, Nero's Day at Disneyland, and Vertigoaway. Some of my favorite artists also include Animal Collective, Will Wood, Of Montreal, Mitski, Toby Fox, and pretty much anything from any Legend of Zelda game soundtrack.
Overall, I try to be an approachable, friendly, kind person, and I'm nearly always open to conversation. Don't be afraid to message me whenever!
The most important thing about me as a roleplayer is that I require some amount of planning before and during a roleplay. I want to know your ideas about the roleplay, I want to know where our story is going, and overall I want to interact with both you and your character. I also want to ensure that no boundaries are broken and that all parties are having fun.
While the specific genres of my roleplays tend to vary, I often prefer M/M based roleplays with fantasy or otherworldly elements, be they high fantasy magic or cyberpunk-esque technology advancements. I'm a fairly open person, though, and am nearly always willing to give something new a try. At my peak, I could comfortably write anywhere from 400-800 words per reply, though I may be on the lower end at the moment, considering this is my break from a near year-long hiatus.
I'm not typically one for roleplaying within fandoms, and I am not yet comfortable with playing canonical characters within fandoms, I am potentially willing to give those sort of roleplays a try - do try to be convincing though!~
That aside, I typically bring 18+ elements into my stories, if they're not already the centerpiece of a roleplay. Please let me know if this is something you'd like to avoid, or, alternatively, if this is something you'd like to be the center point of our roleplay. Communication is key!
I apologize in advance if my replies are inconsistent or slow to come. Don't be afraid to poke me if I don't reply within a reasonable amount of time, and I'll do my best to ensure that I give you quality, timely responses.
I'll properly introduce my characters in shortly, but until then, I bid you all adieu!~
