Greetings and salutations. I just learned about this site from a friend who lurks around here. (Definitely haven't been forced here... * Glances around nervously *)

I'm an old man, I'm sarcastic, I'm intelligent, I'm nerdy, and I have aphantasia, I can't see images in my head when I'm thinking!
I would best be described as a renaissance man, as I play multiple instruments, write music, write stories and books, and have hobby A.D.D. like you wouldn't believe.
I haven't done a lot of writing in a long time, but recently started reading dark erotica and have really wanted to write again. I've started writing some stories and posting and getting good feedback so I've been pretty encouraged to keep going.

And my idea of a perfect date would probably be April 25th; Because it's not too hot, not too cold, all you need is a light jacket.

Also, Bi-Polar/Borderline Manic Depressive, I have insomnia, and I work in Data Sciences for a major Biopharma company. SOOOOOO..... Side steps slowly towards stage left yeah..... I guess.... side steps bigger Alll I have I'll be going NOW * Starts to run but a comically large cane comes from across the stage, grabs me and pulls me back. *

I hope everyone has a fabulous Saturday! Welcome to my YOUTUBE CHANNEL! To be fair I may have forgotten why I was here.

This rambling introduction brought to you by Caffiene and Insomnia... Caffeine and Insomnia, your friends think you're awake because of the caffeine, but really you're drinking the caffeine because of the insomnia and you're not sure if it's Tuewednesday or ThursFriUrDay. As your doctor if Caffeine and insomnia is right for you. Sold wherever disfunction exists.

This is gonna get rejected isn't it? Its fine, I understand. :|

Salutations to you, too, sir knight (or squire)! Lovely to have you with us, and I hope you make yourself right at home <3

Welcome to Inner Sanctum, New Squire!

First and foremost; it's nice to meet you! Welcome to our home! If you haven't already, please make sure you read your welcome letter in the top right! It should be the little icon! That's where all of your future messages will end up!

Second! I bet you're wondering how to start Role Playing and where to go! I think it's pretty fun to explore the forums, and I highly recommend doing so! Most thread homes, if not all, have a pinned post at the top of them to tell you what goes there! However, the Request Threads are pretty self explanatory; Here's a Link! There's plenty to look through, but you could also build your very own! Tell people what you're all about and get those writing partners! Take your time though; there's never any pressure! If you were looking for an open story you can just jump in straight away, you can find them in Unfinished Tales!

Next, I just want to share some of the other wonderful places in Sanctum! There's plenty to do while waiting on replies or to give yourself a break every now and then! The first shout out goes to The Sanctum Tavern! Here you can find many a thing! By the Hearth can be found there and has many wonderful discussions; my personal favorite is where everyone talks up their writing partners! Want to see some cute pets or share your own? Pets of the Sanctum is where to go! Feeling up for a challenge? Check out the Monthly Writing Challenge and give it a whirl! And, there's so so so~ much more! Please take the time to explore!

I think that's everything... Oh! I'm Mio, by the way! Just a friendly changeling and hydration bot! You can find me and several others in Sanctum's Chat Room! If you have any questions, you can always pop in there for help! I will say though, the best people to ask are staff! Green Names are Heralds, which are the best to ask questions! Blue Names are Moderators and Purple Names are the Administrators, which help with tech support and discipline! You can find out which are online via the home page! On PC it'll be to the right of the screen, and on mobile it'll be near the bottom!
Now, get out there and write! May your muses sing for you!

Welcome Squire! Glad to have you with us, you'll fit right in. Best of luck with getting settled and your future writing.

This need not be so wonderful a greeting as those above, but you found my thread first :P Regardless, I was surprised and delighted that you decided to join. Welcome to the mad house. Mind where you step, we have glitter bombs, random crayons and no sanity. You'll fit right in. ;)

Thank you. I can't say I have NO sanity. Insanity is a type of sanity I believe.

Thank you so much! I don't know if I can make myself right at home immediately. It takes me awhile to get comfortable. ** Steals your blanket and takes a sip of your drink **

:D I was delighted you invited. But I'm a squire, not yet knighted.
And you used the -ish because you knew I'd argue without it... along with my unhealthy obsession with the suffix -ish, along with tilde ~, the Adult -ish of the business world.

* Bows deeply, then struggles to get back up *

I play lots of things, though I wish I were good at percussion! :|

My main instrument is guitar which I've been playing since I was 13. Then the extensions of that are bass, Ukulele, and mandolin. I can play piano mediocre like. What kind of music do you play?

Been playing percussion since I was 8 myself. Never played any sort of string instruments though! As for music, I am currently in a symphonic ensemble and I'm also in a brass band where I play the timpani! I'm actually section lead for the brass band which is pretty cool in my opinion. Honestly, I could go on and on and on and on and on and on and on when it comes to music.

WOW! That is AMAZING. I'm no where near good enough to lead anyone, ha! I remember being first chair once, for a month, while playing Trumpet... After that the closest I got to First chair was Last Chair Trumpet. (Last Chair trumpet sat next to the First Chair French Horn player... Whom I had a crush on)

I can understand talking forever about music, I'm with you. I have recently been collecting nice equipment to record songs I write. Drums are always my weakness lol.
Also, TIMPANI! Dang it, the coolest of all band percussion. :D

It can be a lot of work and practically a part time job to be section lead. And I'm not even paid, I do it because I am passionate about the group and I know it takes stress off of our director's shoulders. It's been wonderful having the opportunity to prove myself, especially as I'm still relatively new to the area I live in now so having these two groups is wonderful and gets me out of my house!

Timpani can be intense, especially in brass band! You should see all the notes I end up writing in my music so I know which timpani needs to be at which pitch at each point of the song.

I totally understand about the part time job. I have, in past lives, been a worship leader 3 different times. No matter how small the congregation, it was a lot of work to prepare. Well beyond just practice, lol. That's the easy part, but then getting music sheets ready, making sure people know the song. UGH!

That's crazy about Timpani but it makes sense. Its not just the drums right, its all the different ways you can hit them. (The do more than just BUM bum BUM bum BUMMMMMM, that's just the biggest hit.)

I mentioned mediocre at piano, I get a decent (mid range) midi keyboard and was trying to learn to read music again since its been decades since I had to read ACTUAL music. (Guitar tabs are so much easier!) It hasn't gone well. It was easier to learn sign language :|

How long have you been leader of the brass brigade? Do you do a lot of concerts each year?

Let's see, going on two years of being percussion lead for the brass band. We do about 3 concerts a year currently, but there has been talks about perhaps doing competitions at some point. And yes, there are different ways to hit them, different types of timpani mallets too depending on what type of sound you need. And each one has a pedal where you can change the pitch as needed while playing.

When it comes to the wind symphony, I would say we average around 12 concerts or so a year currently. But our current conductor is actually retiring and a new one taking his place after the next concert so that very well could change!

I'm able to read many different clefs of music thanks to all the instruments I have played as well as music theory courses I have taken.

If you'd like, we can move this convo to pms so can chat more there! :D

WOW! That's a lot of concerts a year. "At least that gets me out of my house... " WHEN ARE YOU IN YOUR HOUSE CRAZY PERSON! Is your house just a series of sheet music notebooks forming some sort of lean-to against a tree in the park where your amphitheater is?

Oh man, good luck on the change over to new conductors. I'm not sure how much of a change that can make, but my guess, A LOT. Hope it goes well.

I don't even have a cleft chin. :( :D

Yeah for sure, I do indeed getting nerdy over music!

Hello and welcome. Enjoy your time with us.
