Introductory threads often feel awkward to me. They will either contain too much or too little. Here's to hoping I find a neat balance.
I am The Senate [insert spinny meme here]. Sen if you want to shorten it. Obviously this is not my real name. And that is not something I am willing to share right now. I just discovered this site and you are all strangers on the internet to me! Still, I am hopeful to find a good roleplaying community I can start to call home. So I will at least try. Here's some facts about me:
Over 30 years old. And while I would not call myself an old fart (mentally, I feel as if I am at my prime), I've definitely began to feel the ravages of aging. Damn you back pains! Damn you the need to sleep a solid eight hours to feel fully functional! I've been roleplaying for about 15 years give or take across many different platforms. It started in the days of MySpace (MySpace chats speed fighters holla!). Then moved on to other chat based sites. Some forums. MMORPG's. Discord. Email SIMS (odd experience for me). You name it. RP has been one of my favorite hobbies. Right alongside art. Not the kind of art I could use for rp, mainly abstract stuff. But I enjoy it immensely either way. And those paintings do end up inspiring the stories I write in one way or another. Lately I've found a love for screenwriting too. The challenge of learning a different format of writing has been eye opening. I am also not a native English speaker, so I understand that my sentence structure might be odd at times. Things don't always translate well, but I try.
It is my hope to find people with whom to write exciting and interesting stories with. Not for, but with. Even when I find myself writing in a fandom setting, with canon characters, I have a way of deviating and wanting to explore other themes that may not have been explored in said fandom setting. Quality over quantity is the age old debate that has been raging for years and years. Personally, I find that you can have both. Have cake and eat it too. But no amount of flowery words will ever make up for substance (or so screenwriting has taught me). So while I do enjoy a bit of fluff, because who doesn't like to give an awesome post right?, ultimately, I am looking for that give and take. The Ying to Yang. Collaboration. For everyone involved to get something out of the rp in a meaningful and satisfying way.
And now that I am done ranting, I will stop and refer to the very first line of this introduction. You can be the judge of which way it went. Regardless, I'm here for great stories. And I hope I can be the one to help you write a great one too.
