Her earliest memories all involve her possessive and abusive Sire, Salvatore Hughes-Ward. Though he might have taught her nearly all she knows about survival and her own kind, she has always resented him for how frequently he took advantage of his power over her. It was this resentment of him that eventually resulted in her leaving him. One night when Salvatore was, yet again, belittling and mistreating Florence, a random human stranger stepped in to defend her. It was evident this human stood no chance to her Sire, but Florence, not being able to stand by and watch, jumped to his defense. While she couldn't kill him, Salvatore fled from the fight, and a newly-freed Florence immediately pledged her eternal servitude to the human, not knowing what else to do with herself. That man turned out to be the then-current head of the Nightingale family, and she was quickly put to work carrying out the most grim tasks he had to offer her. And for the following years, Florence settled into a life consisting mostly of training and working for her new master, eternally grateful for what he'd done for her. Unfortunately, she'd eventually be put to rest by the same man she'd fought for for so long. Under pressure from his loved ones, who had felt intimidated by the nigh-unstoppable weapon Florence had become, he decided to seal her inside of a coffin beneath the Nightingale estate. Only Nightingale kin could release her from it, and she was made to vow to protect whichever heir managed to free her.
