Nalyria is an auto-didact who taught herself about botany and ecology from the books she found lying around her father's shop as a little girl. Everything else she knows she has learned through exploration and experimentation.

Nalyria's father was a fairly successful merchant in Khare, and when he died, Nalyria took over the family business. However, as an aspiring herbalist, she soon realized that there was far more interest in some of her botanical concoctions--in particular, those with narcotic and psychedelic properties--than in any of the musty old wares her father once hocked...and so, these days she spends little time in the shop, instead occupying herself on expeditions to find rare and potent plants she can incorporate into the new recipes she experiments with in her "laboratory."
