Welcome to the world of Pokémon! This roleplay will take place in (one of) the world of the games, not the anime. After the plans of the Rainbow Rockets were thwarted in Alola, the remaining members have been on the run, rearing their heads in various parts of the world. As part of the International Police Department's Romeo Team, your job is to flush these criminals out and put them where they belong: behind bars. This thread is closed for submissions.

Specifications and rules:
  • General Site rules apply. (Of course!)
  • You are expected to keep your character relevant. I am providing the main plot, but it is up to you to make your own side plots.
  • Each post has a 500-word minimum. If you can't come up with 500 words, you don't have enough to say actually to provide to the story. If you're having a conversation with someone, and thus can't find the minimum, make it a dual-post with the person you're talking with. Dual-posts are posts made together by several players. You can work on them in PMs or Google Docs before posting them in the thread.
  • If you put anything OOC in the IC thread, I will smite you.
  • Images are allowed.
  • Don't be a dick. We're all here to write together, so work together on plots rather than against each other. No god-modding. If there are any disputes, I will take action, and it might end in someone getting banned from the thread.
  • Characters and pokémon are subject to dying.
  • Please note that this is NOT a smut-centric RP. Romance is encouraged, and thus sexual situations are bound to happen, but I do ask that you refrain from any severely graphic depictions of sex. If a sexual scene comes up, please use the fade-to-black method. You're here to write a story, not to get off.
  • Only six pokémon on hand at any given time; however, you can have an infinite number of them stored on the PC. That being said, I expect you to have a backstory of how you met, befriended, and trained every single pokémon in your arsenal. On missions, you will be expected to fulfill your role; your team needs to reflect that.
  • No legendaries! That includes mythical. You might get the chance to catch one later.
  • I will allow one ultra beast.
  • As far as whether pokémon will be caught, I, as the GM, gets the final say.
  • We will not be using levels in this RP, but assume that as a special agent, you have very top-trained pokémon.
  • I realize HMs have been out of use for the past few generations; however, we will be implementing them in this game. This is RP-based, so how you use your pokémon's moves is up to your imagination. However, just because a pokémon has the size to carry you, without the move 'fly,' it does not have the technique to fly with the extra burden that is you. The same goes for 'surf,' 'cut,' and so on.
  • In the past few generations, several older pokémon have been given new forms and special attacks (i.e., gigantamax, mega evolution, and z-moves). I will only allow one of these per pokémon. And do remember that dynamaxing/gigantamaxing can only take place in power spots.
  • Every agent will be in possession of a rotom phone/pokédex without having rotom in their party.
  • It has been 14 years since the events of Generation I/III.
Mission:

Dear Special Agent of the Romeo Team,

The impossible has happened! The Seafoam Islands in the Kanto Region have, in the past two days, been covered by heavy clouds, resulting in the tropical island being completely covered in snow. If the legend is true, this means that Articuno is preparing to roost and lay its eggs in the coming weeks. A joyous occasion to the locals, which is drawing a lot of tourism to the island, many fans are hoping to catch a glimpse of the legendary pokémon.

We have intercepted intelligence stating that the Team Rocket Executive known as the Masked Man, will attempt to disturb the pokémon and capture it and its offspring. Your mission is twofold:
  • Protect Articuno, its roost, and its babies
  • Apprehend and contain the criminal known as the Masked Man
You will rendezvous with your fellow agents on the east island. The gym leader of the Cinnabar Gym has offered to house you.

This message will be deleted upon execution.

Seafoam Island: Situated on Route 20 of Kanto, Seafoam Islands are a pair of islands that divide the route into two separate segments. Hence, to get to the other end of the route, it must be passed through. It is a place of rough waters, and only seasoned trainers can reach the islands. Many water-type-based trainers come here to train their pokémon both against the local wildlife but also the extreme currents. Note that the nearest pokémon center is in Fuchsia City.

The islands themselves used to be somewhat of a conundrum in the scientific world, as they are covered in a thin layer of snow through most of the year. It used to be believed that this was due to the legendary pokémon Articuno spreading the cold across the island each night. It has now been proven to be colder due to a specific sea current that brings cold water from the north to the islands and its surrounding waters. This is also the reason for the incredibly clear, albeit dangerously cold waters.

Beneath the mountains, several subterranean caves are spread, connecting the two islands underground. These caves are cold to the touch, often coated in a thin layer of ice. The water currents within these caves are incredibly strong, strong enough that a pokémon is unable to surf across them without being swept up. Walking in these caves can be incredibly dangerous without proper light, as there are holes in the ground that could send someone for a nasty fall.

Pokémon registered: Zubat, Golbat, Psyduck, Golduck, Slowpoke, Slowbro, Seel, Dewgong, Shelder, Clyster, Krabby, Kingler, Horsea, Seadra, Staryu, Tentacool, Tentacruel, Magikarp, Gyarados, Poliwag, Goldeen, Jinx, Makuhita, Absol, Chingling, Bronzor, Swinub

To this day, his identity remains a mystery. We thought him long gone, but recent evidence points to him as having returned to claim the legendary pokémon of the Seafoam Islands.

One year before Generation I/III:
  • Professor Rowan goes to Kanto to research the myths of the region.
Generation I/III:
  • Team Rocket's attention is focused on Kanto, distributing Pokémon as prizes through the Rocket Game Corner in Celadon City and the secret underground hideout underneath it.
  • A successful raid was executed at the Celadon City Game Corner controlled by Team Rocket, recovering all of the Pokémon held captive.
  • In Mt. Moon, Rocket intends to sell the Pokémon Fossils they are mining in the cave.
  • A mission devoted to stealing Cubone skulls in Lavender Town resulted in a hostage situation involving Mr. Fuji and the death of a Marowak.
  • Another hostage situation developed soon afterward when the organization overran Silph Co. in Saffron City intending to get the Master Ball plans, a prototype of which had already been produced.
  • Team Rocket's plans to take over the Silph Co. were reported to have been thwarted.
  • Looker and the International Police storm the Viridian Gym searching for Giovanni, but he is nowhere to be found.

  • Celio connects his Pokémon Network Center to the Hoenn region.
  • Team Rocket has a small branch in the Sevii Islands, searching for the Ruby and Sapphire gems. This branch is based out of the Rocket Warehouse on Five Island, situated in the middle of the Five Isle Meadow, where many Pokémon are held captive in cages.
  • Their search for the Ruby leads them to Mt. Ember, though they fail to find it. They then appear in Icefall Cave, where, with Lorelei's help, they are driven out. A scientist named Gideon then seems at the Dotted Hole to retrieve the Sapphire.
  • After the two Admins' defeat at the Rocket Warehouse, they realize that Giovanni has been defeated in Kanto. Without the lifeblood of the organization, all is lost for the Sevii Islands branch. Team Rocket subsequently pulled out of the Sevii Islands and has not been seen there since.
  • In Rustboro City, a grunt for Team Aqua is apprehended after stealing parts from a Devon Corporation Researcher.
  • The Oceanic Museum in Slatenport City is taken over by Team Aqua, but are defeated. Their leader gets away.
  • At Meteor Falls, Team Magma, who has stolen a valuable Meteorite from Professor Cozmo, seeks to make Mt. Chimney erupt. Suddenly, the scene is interrupted by Team Aqua and Archie's appearance, which causes the Team Magma Grunts to retreat to Mt. Chimney with the stolen meteorite.
  • At the top of Mt. Chimney, Team Magma and Team Aqua can be found fighting. Team Magma is defeated and leaves behind the meteorite.
  • Team Aqua attacks the Weather Institute in Hoenn, attempting to steal the Pokémon Castform, but are defeated and retreat.
  • Team Aqua and Team Magma steal the red and blue orbs (respectively) from Mt. Pyre.
  • Deep within the Jagged Pass's secret tunnels, Maxie attempts to awaken Groudon with the blue orb. However, upon awakening, Groudon abruptly flees the cave.
  • Team Aqua takes over Captain Stern's research submarine.
  • Team Magma has invaded the Mossdeep Space Center, where they plan to steal rocket fuel to jettison into Mt. Chimney, causing it to erupt. They are apprehended.
  • Team Aqua travels to the Seafloor Cavern with the Red Orb, where Kyogre awaits. Kyogre, however, is not able to be controlled and leaves for the Cave of Origin in Sootopolis City.
  • At Sootopolis City, Groudon and Kyogre are fighting. Rayquaza descends from the sky and cries out to Groudon and Kyogre, causing the two to retreat. Rayquaza then flies back to Sky Pillar, and the weather in Hoenn returns to normal.
  • An unnamed meteorite heads for Hoenn, threatening to destroy the world. When Rayquaza shatters the meteoroid, however, a triangular object emerges from the middle of the debris. After a moment of darting around, tendrils snake out of the item before it bursts apart to reveal an unnamed pokémon, which immediately engages Rayqauaza in a battle.
Between I/III and II/IV:
  • An eruption of the volcano on Cinnabar Island destroys the island's settlement, except for the Pokémon Center. As a result, Blaine, the Cinnabar Gym Leader, relocates the Gym to the nearby Seafoam Islands.
  • The Champion retreats to Mt. Silver, training day and night, leaving Lance to act as Champion. At the same time, Lorelei returns to her home in Four Island, and Agatha retires from her position as a member of the Kanto Elite Four. This leaves three vacancies on the roster for Elite Four.
  • Karen and Will fill two of these vacancies. The other is filled by Koga, who abdicates his position as Fuchsia City Gym Leader to his daughter, Janine.
  • Anabel enters an Ultra Wormhole and is found by Nanu and Looker in Alola.

  • Professor Rowan returns to Sinnoh after four years.
Three years after Generation I/III/ (Generation II/IV):
  • A revived Team Rocket, using plans formulated three years prior, enrages many Gyarados at the Lake of Rage as they proceed to take over the Goldenrod Radio Tower in a desperate attempt to contact Giovanni, their former leader. They are defeated, and the new leader vows never again to re-form Team Rocket.
  • Team Galactic is in the Valley Windworks, where Mars heads up a scheme to steal energy for their activities. After she has been defeated in the Valley Windworks, Team Galactic's building in Eterna City remains a stronghold on the western side of the region, led by Jupiter.
  • Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn succeed in capturing Mesprit, Uxie, and Azelf, respectively, at their respective lakes and bringing them to the Team Galactic HQ, where gems are extracted from their bodies to create the Red Chain. Cyrus is forced to make a second one through artificial means. Using these two chains, he summons both Dialga and Palkia to the Spear Pillar to recreate the universe. Even though the lake guardians appear to intervene, they cannot maintain the balance against both of the Legendary Pokémon at once. However, enraged by Cyrus's actions, Giratina then appears and drags Cyrus into the Distortion World, presumably destroying the Red Chains in the process.
  • Charon awakens Heatran on Stark Mountain. Heatran is stopped by restoring the Magma Stone in its place. Looker tries to arrest the remnants of Team Galactic led by Charon but fails.
  • Hayley, a friend of Bebe, opens up a Pokémon Ranch.
Approximately two years after Generation II/IV:

  • Cipher and Team Snagem return to the Orre region and create XD001, a supposedly unpurifiable Shadow Pokémon, but Michael thwarts their plans. Meanwhile, Dr. Kaminko and Chobin invent Robo Groudon and Robo Kyogre, and Professor Krane invents the Purify Chamber, where Shadow Pokémon can be purified more easily.
  • Construction of the Royal Unova is completed.
  • The Team Rocket Grunt who stole the Machine Part in Kanto returns to Unova, intending to reform Team Rocket there despite its second defeat, as he previously stated. He later falls in love and has a son, moving to Icirrus City.
  • Caitlin leaves the Sinnoh/Johto Battle Frontier and returns to Unova, becoming an Elite Four member.
Three years after Generation II/Generation IV (Generation V):
  • Team Plasma attacks the museum in Nacrene City and steals a bone from the Dragon Fossil. The grunts are apprehended and return the Dragon Skull.
  • Team Plasma appears at Dragonspiral Tower, where N awakens the legendary dragon.
  • N's castle rises from the ground, surrounding the Pokémon League building. Most of the Unova Gym Leaders appear to stop Team Plasma.
  • Team Plasma appears during the Liberty Pass event, where they take over Liberty Garden and try to capture Victini.
Between Generation V and Generation VI:

  • Bianca officially becomes Professor Juniper's assistant.
  • The Pokémon distribution of Unova changes drastically.
  • Cilan, Chili, Cress, Lenora, and Brycen retire as Gym Leaders to train.
  • Cheren, Roxie, and Marlon become Gym Leaders.

  • Five of the Seven Sages leave Team Plasma, and Ghetsis and Zinzolin form a new Team Plasma solely dedicated to conquering Unova.
  • A landslide seals off Route 10 and a majority of Victory Road, forcing another Victory Road to be built. Another landslide seals off Challenger's Cave.
  • The Pokémon World Tournament replaces the Cold Storage in the south of Driftveil City.
  • A section of the mountain near Undella Town is constructed into a new town called Lentimas Town
  • The Riches house in Undella Town is demolished, with new villas built in the town.
  • The Marine Tube is built between Undella Town and Humilau City, connecting the two.
  • The Castelia Sewers are made accessible on Thumb Pier, which leads to Castelia's park, or Two years after Black and White (Generation VI):
Two years after Generation V (Generation V/VI):
  • Team Plasma attacks Opelucid City. Drayden tries to stop Team Plasma but fails. Colress uses the imprisoned Kyurem's power to freeze Opelucid City.
  • Zinzolin steals the DNA Splicers from Drayden.
  • N arrives at the Giant Chasm to confront Ghetsis. Ghetsis uses the DNA Splicers to fuse N's Reshiram with Kyurem, creating the White Kyurem.
  • Lysandre introduces the Holo Caster, which becomes a massive success around Kalos.
  • Team Flare finds Yveltal and brings it to their secret HQ in Geosenge Town.
  • Team Flare is encountered in Glittering Cave, where they attempt to steal fossils off the researcher working there but are stopped.
  • It is revealed that a problem inside the Kalos Power Plant is responsible for the blackout in Lumiose City. Inside the building, a Team Flare Admin and Team Flare Scientist Aliana are siphoning electricity from the Power Plant, causing the outage.
  • At Laverre City, Team Flare Grunts are blocking the Poké Ball Factory. Although defeated, the Team Flare Scientists are able to steal many of the Poké Balls, except the Master Ball.
  • Lysandre reveals that he is the leader of Team Flare and sends out a live broadcast to all Kalos trainers via the Holo Caster. During the broadcast, Lysandre reveals Team Flare's plans of using the "ultimate weapon," a machine built by the king of Kalos 3,000 years ago that can eliminate all life. To achieve this, Lysandre plans to use Yveltal to activate the device in Lysandre Labs in Lumiose City.
  • The weapon, situated in Geosenge Town, activates from the three menhirs in the town center. The blast from the weapon destroys it and buries Lysandre and the HQ under rubble. As a result, Team Flare disbands. It is unknown what becomes of Lysandre afterward.
  • Looker confronts Essentia, the Pokémon thief who has been stealing Pokémon from Trainers around Lumiose City. Looker realizes that Essentia is Emma, an orphan girl he had taken to live with him. Emma's Espurr, Mimi, frees Emma from her mind control by destroying the Expansion Suit. After "Essentia" is defeated, Xerosic relents and surrenders to Looker, ending Team Flare's reign of terror once and for all.
  • A parade is held in Lumiose City to celebrate the new Kalos League Champion. AZ challenges the Champion to a battle and loses. AZ's Eternal Flower Floette returns to him.
Between Generation V/VI and Generation VII:
  • Gladion flees Aether Paradise with a Type: Null.
  • Sina and Dexio are sent to Alola by Professor Sycamore to follow Zygarde.
  • Grimsley and Colress come to Alola.
  • Lillie flees Aether Paradise with a Cosmog, nicknamed Nebby.
Two years after Generation VI (Generation VII):
  • In the region of Alola, the ancient legendary pokémon Necrozma opens up several ultra wormholes and steals the world's light, only for it to reappear shortly after.
  • Nihilego appears at Aether Paradise.
  • During the confrontation with Dusk Mane Necrozma, it opens multiple Ultra Wormholes all across Alola, unleashing Ultra Beasts into Alola. Blacephalon and Stakataka appear on Mahalo Trail, facing against Hala, Hau, and Tapu Koko. Additionally, Olivia encounters Buzzwole and Pheromosa at the Ruins of Life, Nanu encounters Guzzlord at the Ruins of Abundance, and Hapu encounters Xurkitree at the Ruins of Hope.
  • Lusamine enters one with Guzma. Lillie evolves Nebby into Solgaleo at the Altar of the Sunne and travels into Ultra Space, where they battle Lusamine again and bring her and Guzma back to Alola.
  • On TV, Lusamine elaborates on Poni Island's recent events involving Necrozma and assures everyone the incident is dealt with. During the interview, Wicke and Faba stand behind her, and the latter quietly slips away. Suddenly, an Ultra Wormhole appears in the sky, and the cameraman gets pushed by a Team Rainbow Rocket Grunt and drops his camera. A mysterious figure arrives and says the studies and technologies being worked on at Aether Paradise will be of great use to Team Rainbow Rocket.
  • Lusamine's mansion is no more, and in its place stands its warped version, the Team Rocket's Castle.
  • Faba sold out Aether Paradise to Team Rainbow Rocket to further his career.
  • What happened to Lusamine's manor is a product of multiple dimensions converging
  • Maxie and Archie, who occupy offices on the opposite sides of the castle, reveal they came from worlds where they have achieved their goals of, respectively, using Groudon to expand the landmass and using Kyogre to raise the sea, and have been transported to this world right after having done so.
  • Lillie takes the teleporter and is welcomed by the mastermind behind the invasion, Giovanni. Lillie also discovers Lusamine unconscious and, according to Giovanni, brainwashed with an Ultra Beast's toxins. Giovanni gracefully retreats, and the manor reverts to its normal appearance.
Two years after the events of Generation VII (Generation VIII):
  • Rose makes a public announcement, revealing that he's going to bring about the second Darkest Day to save Galar from an energy crisis a thousand years in the future.
  • The Darkest Day is the result of Rose awakening, a Legendary Pokémon known as Eternatus.
  • Once Eternatus seems to have been defeated; however, it suddenly transforms into its even more powerful Eternamax form.
  • Zacian and Zamazenta awakening and come to defeat Eternatus putting an end to the second Darkest Day.
Two years after the events of Generation VIII:
  • Seafoam Islands freeze over, leading the Kantonians to believe Articuno has returned to lay its eggs.
  • Intelligence gathered by Agent Looker forewarns of an old Team Rocket boss returning to the region to capture the legendary pokémon while it is vulnerable.
  • The International Police sends its Romeo-team to deal with the situation.

He had Steven Stone take his place as Champion of the Hoenn Region and set off on a journey.
Agent Hellfire's journey took him to other regions and he competed in each of their Pokémon leagues, enjoying battling and continuing to hon his skills. Though he didn't receive the title of Champion again, he still ended up in the top 4 every time and was well respected among other trainers. He also had a knack for attracting trouble, having been in Alola during the invasion of the Ultra Beasts and in Galar during the Second Darkest Day, having helped in both confrontations.
After the Second Darkest Day was over he was approached by the IPSOD and offered the position of Team Leader to a team dubbed Romeo. It took some convincing, but he eventually accepted.

Codename:
Artemis
Age and Gender:
29, Female
Organization: I.P.S.O.Unit:
Romeo
Job Classification:
Detective
Background:
Eri (pronounced like Arie) has never been an ordinary person – no, she was rather gifted. She had books and books from countless authors that told tales of heroic (and some not so heroic) characters who explored the world and went on more adventures than she could count. So, that became her passion; solving riddles and puzzles; finding little bits of information that would allow her to unearth a plethora of secrets and stories. It would allow her freedom. Eventually, all of Shalour City and beyond turned to Eri when something was amiss, and soon enough her sharp mind and quick wit had reached the ears of the I.P.S.O. They had offered the opportunity to become part of the team, and she was happy to join them without a second thought.
