What's up, people of the Sanctum? I'm ArtfulAneurysm, and I guess you could say I'm new around here. I've been ghosting around in the background for a couple of days now, and finally decided that it was time I introduced myself.

I'm a college student who is currently enjoying the final weeks of the summer break before returning to the books. I've always been a creatively inclined person. I danced and played clarinet when I was younger, and now I write, sketch, sew, and act, among other things. I've been through some hard times recently, but I'm starting to feel better and get back into the things I used to really enjoy. Like writing and roleplaying.

I consider myself a pretty laid back person. I understand that real life comes before roleplay, always. I write what I feel like writing, and I write how I feel like writing. Which, often, is the way that I myself would speak in everyday conversation. (Definitely not to say that it will be impossible to understand or anything like that. Just not structured like an essay.)

Since I'm not actually really good at talking about myself like this, I'm just going to leave it there. I'm really excited to be here, and hopefully I'll get to know some of you better!

(Title because I was watching the LA Jungle Book while typing this.)

Welcome to the Sanctum! I hope you are enjoying it so far. Thanks for joining the community.

Welcome, welcome to the Inner Sanctum! I'm LadyLena -curtsies- I hope you are settling in well, and I'm glad you have stumbled upon this haven. I am also a college student, already on my last year, hopefully be the next batch to graduate by the end of the school year. I only sing because I cannot play any other instrument other than my voice, I'm curious though, how do you play the clarinet, is it hard?

Anyway, I can't wait to see your roleplays soon!

Thank you very much, LadyLena! I'm happy to say that I am settling in quite well. Everyone seems so nice. Good luck on your last year, and I hope you do graduate on time! (Schedules can be such a pain, can't they? I'll be a junior next term, and my schedule's always been a mess. xD )

Clarinet isn't hard at all! Just blow air through the mouthpiece-- you don't have to change the shape of your mouth like you do for brass-- and plug the correct holes with the pads of your fingers to play the notes! The worst part about it is the thumb rest on the third piece of the instrument. I got a thumb pad to put over it, and even with that, my thumb still hurt after class.

Thank you! I'm of the same opinion. I've rarely seen a laid back writer blow up about something. Plus, laid back writers are a lot of fun to plot with; lots of ideas, without caring if someone thinks the idea is "stupid" or not. xD

Thesis, I hope you know about it, because I am going to rant. I swear, these dates and goals are giving me a headache, and the toothache I am currently having is not helping. That is all -bow- Oh wait, there are also professors, but that is too much of a long story, we'll get to that later. XD

Good, I'm glad you are settling in, everyone really is nice, all playful in everything. I don't think I would survive any instrument practice other the ze voice, but you sound like you're good at it, I am curious to hear.

I do know about it, and am currently dreading the day that it's my turn. *shudders* I send good vibes your way, to rid you of your aches (including the profs that are most likely contributing to that pain in your head) and to help you through your thesis!

I see that! I'm still just sort of silently exploring on my own for right now, but one day, I'll actually post my own search thread. xD Instrument practice can really be something else. Especially if you are practicing with the whole band, like I always was. Often, the conductor will stop and help out one section, so the rest of us are just sitting there or quietly working through the finger movements for our parts. I actually haven't played my instrument in about four years now, but I was pretty good at the time. xD What do voice practices entail? Is it a combination of scales and working on notes and particular songs? That's what I imagine it is, but I am probably wrong. xD (Sorry for the barrage there. I love music.)
