Hello hello, ciao and ¡hola! I hath made a role-play, I hope you enjoy!
Research in animal psychology has taken off over the years. In the science community, it used to be thought that animals were merely...Free experiments, only interested in survival with no feelings or thoughts...Now, in the 21st century, it has been realized that perhaps they do think and feel. But we don't yet know how truly advanced they are. This is where Dr. Patti comes in. Patti "Pattycakes" Odalia was a graduate student who discovered the once sci-fi pipe dream of imprinting.
-Taking someone's mind and placing it into someone else's body with technology. It was considered too dangerous and experimental to be used on humans, so they first tested Patti's tech on animals; imprinting a cat with a dog's mind, imprinting a snake to think it was a bird, and a lot more. The closer the creatures were together biologically, the easier the imprint was to do. (i.e., imprinting a domestic cat's mind into a tiger or a lion would be a LOT easier than imprinting a monkey's mind into a bird.)
After about 5 years of testing, it was deemed that Patti's imprinting tech was safe enough to be tested on humans. First, they took one human's mind and imprinted it onto the subject's sibling, going perfectly! Then they took two unrelated people and swapped. It still worked perfectly! They were able to fix them as well! They collected a small group of participants for a voluntary experiment to do a test to imprint mammals into humans. After the subjects were brought into their rooms and became familiar with the area, they were imprinted with an animal mind for roughly ten days, and then the imprint was removed without any negative side effects. After the imprints were removed, the subjects were to tell the researchers of the time they were imprinted, as for 24 hours after the imprint was removed, they could remember clearly their time with an animal mind. Over time, the memories faded, even though the subjects remembered they had been imprinted, they couldn't recall the experience of having an animal mind at all.
It was now time for a stronger imprint...The volunteers (who were offered either money as a couple of the volunteers were in poverty, or some other benefit in exchange for roughly 2 months of their time at the lab) were imprinted...However this time, their mind was burned deeper in, to give the imprint more strength. and the imprint was made both stronger and longer. The night of imprinting– which was done while the subjects were asleep an animal justice terrorist group broke into the laboratory, violently "disposing" of whoever tried to stop them. They released the animals, who proceeded to smash and ruin every piece of machinery they could find. Tracking mud everywhere, which clogged up machinery...Including the imprinting machine.
The researchers were in a panic. They caged the riled-up subjects, with a heavy heart...killed the regular animals, and the terrorists retreated. The researchers patched up the broken walls, fences, etc. And sedated the subjects. After the patients were fully sedated, they were hooked up to a machine that monitored their vitals and their neurological signals, and they were eventually able to remove the imprint...
...Or so they thought. They monitored the patients for the first week, making sure they were ok once they were awake. What they saw was not exactly promising. Although the imprint had been removed, the effects were still there, just overlayed over the human mind. The patients exhibited a mix of human and animal characteristics and were unable to function in a normal, domestic setting for an extended period. The scientists realized the patients could be dangerous to the public...With a heavy heart indeed...Dr. Patti, with the surprisingly quick-to-come legal permission of the government, publicly declared the patients...Dead. Patti passed it off as a murder from the terrorists.
"The volunteers for my imprinting experiment were sadly...murdered. Murdered by the animal justice terrorist group that ransacked my lab a week ago." Dr. Patti said, with a melancholy tone. "We at the lab are inviting the families of the volunteers for the funeral my lab crew and I are organizing. You all have my sympathy."
The project was shut down, though it was not all lost hope. The researchers were permitted to continue studying the now...permanently animalistic volunteers, though they were to be treated as humanely as possible. They are still human, after all.
If you have read that whole thing, you are DEDICATED my friend! I hope you'll consider joining!
