It began with an autumn breeze, one that ruffled his feathers. Well not his feathers, goblins don't have those. His hair though, the big messy mop of it on his head that as often as not stuck straight up, was very ruffled. Pie giggled as the cool air was a relief from the heat of the summer that was now fading.

On this particular occasion, Miss Ashla and Mister Lurog had decided to steal some precious moments away from the prying eyes of their companions. It seemed that their romantic bond was deepening with each passing day, prompting them to seek solitude in order to nurture their connection. Meanwhile, Miss Nyxia and he had joined Miss Vihni during her morning meditation and practice session by the river. Nyxia, gracefully plucking the strings of her Lyr, layered the air with lilting melodies, infusing the atmosphere with a serene ambiance. Despite her 8 foot height the gray skinned goliath woman plucked the tiny strings with perfect precision. Vihni guided her companions through the various steps required to fully immerse oneself in the meditative state. The human womans dark hair shone in the sunlight as she brushed it from her face absentmindedly as she sat cross legged in her loose easy moving clothes.

Pie, enthralled by the soothing sounds of her words, succumbed to the comfort of the moment. He sprawled out on his back, allowing his gaze to wander lazily across the expanse of sky above, where cotton-like clouds leisurely drifted by. As Vihni's voice gently wafted into his ears, Pie dutifully followed her instructions, gradually releasing the shackles of worry and concern that had burdened him in recent days. The art of liberating his mind from attachments was not an easy one to master, yet the act of surrendering himself to the tranquility of the present brought solace nonetheless. Although he couldn't be certain if he had truly achieved the state of deep meditation Vihni encouraged, he remained unperturbed by such uncertainties. After all, the experience itself had been undeniably relaxing, and for that, Pie was grateful.

After the group's meditation session came to a close, Vihni transitioned seamlessly into her morning practice. She found comfort and guidance in her deceased mother's journals, meticulously reading through its treasured pages. These precious notes served as her only connection to her late mentor, reminding her of the martial arts that had provided solace and unwavering strength throughout her challenging journey. Meanwhile, Nyxia continued to play a melodic tune on her instrument, creating a tranquil ambiance in the room. Pie, absorbed in his own thoughts, dedicated his energy to documenting the recent events in his personal journals. He understood the importance of preserving these memories, ensuring that he would be able to recall them vividly in the future if necessary.

As Vihni initiated her series of spinning and lunging exercises, Pie couldn't help but admire her graceful movements. A grin of genuine delight appeared on his face as he exclaimed, "When Miss Nyxia plays along with your practice, Miss Vihni, it really makes your fight-dance feel more like a dance." Inspired by Vihni's dedication, he set his book aside and rose from his seat, moving in synchronization with her maneuvers, albeit with a more fluid, dance-like style. A hint of a smile tugged at the corners of Vihni's lips, acknowledging Pie's lighthearted participation. However, she remained focused and committed to executing each movement precisely, adhering strictly to the predetermined forms that had been ingrained in her muscle memory.

As he gazed upward, a sense of awe enveloped him, his eyes tracing the trajectory of numerous seeds gracefully carried by the gentle breeze. The sheer beauty of the sight filled him with joy and curiosity. Eager to uncover the secrets hidden within these whimsical floating objects, he quickly recognized them as "popsilly seeds" – coveted by fairies and pixies alike for their enchanting properties. Fueled by a childlike wonder, he sprung back on his feet and embarked on a spirited chase, his eyes darting in every direction in search of the elusive silken wings fluttering tantalizingly amidst the wind. Suddenly, a glimmer caught his attention off to the right, amplifying his determination as he swiftly veered in that direction, propelled by the desire to uncover the source of the mesmerizing sparkle.

Pie eagerly chased after the enchanting glimmer of fey wings, his heart brimming with delight. With every nimble flutter above him, his exuberance soared, and his laughs of sheer merriment filled the air. The ethereal beings twirled and pirouetted, their graceful movements captivating his imagination. As they scattered delicate seeds that rode the whimsical winds, Pie couldn't contain his excitement. He darted to and fro, snatching the tiny treasures as they floated gracefully on the gentle breeze. Each gust of wind had gently stirred them from their abode amidst the towering trees, where vibrant flowers bloomed in splendid profusion.

Frantically racing from one place to another, his pursuit abruptly halted as a piercing shout resonated from behind him. Startled, he swiftly swiveled his gaze in the direction of the sound, only to find Miss Vihni frozen in her tracks. With an expression of sheer alarm etched upon her face, she pointed frantically towards him. A split second later, it dawned on him too late that he had strayed perilously close to the river bank.

Before he could react, his next step plunged into empty air, casting him into a state of precarious imbalance. The realization of his imminent danger came crashing down upon him like the weight of the world. Helplessly, he hurtled towards the treacherous waters of the ice-cold mountain runoff. The moment his body made contact with the frigid liquid, a resounding splash punctuated the air. Instantly engulfed by the forceful current, he found himself at the mercy of nature's relentless power. A torrent of icy water surged around him, dragging him deeper into its clutches. As he tumbled along the river's course, his weak limbs flailed in a futile attempt to regain control. The onslaught of floating chunks of glacial ice battered against him mercilessly, making his already dire predicament worse.

He did not know how to swim.

The harrowing experience of being submerged in the chilling waters seemed to stretch on indefinitely for him, despite its actual brevity. The icy currents constricted his chest, transforming each attempt to draw a breath into an exercise in futility. Confusion engulfed him as he struggled to discern which way was up and which way led to the safety of the shore.

An abrupt disruption broke the disarray of his uncontrolled trajectory through the water. Startlingly, strong and nimble arms enveloped him, instantly bringing the chaotic world to a standstill. Gradually emerging from the depths, he found himself in a shallow section of the river, surrounded by the gentle ripples of calming waters. Engulfed within this respite, he succumbed to bouts of coughing and sputtering as his body fought to expel the unwanted presence of the river's essence. Miss Vihni, the one who had dove in and dragged him to the shallows, offered her assistance with both genuine concern and a kindness enveloped in a gentle smile. "Come on," she reassured him, her voice bearing both warmth and worry. "Let's help you out and get you warm."

With her help, he waded to the shore, where he collapsed, and sat with her. He asked out loud, "Miss Meela? Are you there?" The surrounding landscape seemed to respond to his call with grace and serenity. Within moments, the sunlight cascaded through the autumn foliage, blending with the cool breeze to create a harmonious atmosphere. It was then that the sylph, with her ethereal presence, descended upon them. Her dress, intricately woven from the very essence of air, billowed around her, conveying a sense of lightness and freedom. The airy fabric enveloped them, embracing them in its comforting warmth and gently hastening the drying process of their sodden garments.

In the midst of this enchanting spectacle, they both found themselves succumbing to fits of laughter, their joy echoing alongside the sylph's gentle laughter carried by the winds. Although the air remained chilly, it was no longer burdened by the biting cold they had endured mere moments ago. The near-freezing temperatures were now nothing more than a distant memory, thanks to the sylph's intervention. A few moments later she drifted away on the breeze here gentle laughter lingering on the chilly gusts.

Stirred by gratitude, he turned to Vihni, expressing his appreciation in an apologetic tone. "Thanks Miss Vihni! Sorry I wasn't paying attention! I just wanted to help those fairies collect the seeds!" He looked down glumly. "I – I didn't mean to cause any trouble for you." Attempting to assuage his guilt, Vihni responded with a warm smile, her hand finding solace in running through his mostly dry hair. "I don't mind! I hadn't bathed yet today anyway. I think you might have more pressing concerns though."

Pie looked up and stomping towards them where she had followed on the banks was the hulking form of Miss Nyxia, her white eyes narrowed in anger and frustration. They were definitely going to miss breakfast now and as he shivered in another gust of that chill autumn wind, he was thinking perhaps he might have been safer in the river.
