PHOVICK'S REQUEST THREAD
So it begins...
"You have to be a bit of a liar to tell a story the right way."
"You have to be a bit of a liar to tell a story the right way."
Hey there, now the annoying/hard/intimidating part begins. My name's Ray, you can call me Phovick, or Ray. I do not care what pronouns you use for me, they/he/she, have fun. I am a 36 year-old roleplayer, who enjoys gaming, and reading. I started writing back when me and my friend found out that AIM was a perfect place for us to play our favorite characters and create massive worlds to play in. DND was the crux of my desire to experience stories that my friends and I built. Another buddy of mine made a lot of self-made worlds, and took the parts of DND that were fun to him, and from that point forward I have always made OC's in worlds that gave me room to grow my OC’s outside of what a fandom world could give me.
That being said, I am still learning to improve my writing; writing as a whole has changed so much since I was young, but being in my 30's now, I would rather not RP with anyone under 21+ years-old regardless of the intent of the RP. I am in it for the long-run as long as the person across from me is willing to communicate needs and hard-stops. I do not enjoy being humored, if you are not feeling it–tell me, we can figure out something that works for the both of us, or scrap it if it’s run its course.
Maybe you just need a break from the RP? A soft Hiatus, or a lengthier one for your own mental health? Tell me~! Mental health is important to me, I WILL NEVER be angry at anyone for something so crucial. Your mental state is important, and even if RP is a fun medium, taking a break is healthy, even if the thing you are taking a break from is something you love. Sometimes–you need to step back to get a grasp on what you need from an RP, or a partner. If I’m willing to write with you, I consider you a friend. Don’t feel like you can’t step back for silence, or reach out for something lighter and real.

Style style style...
"you write so beautifully... the inside of your mind must be a terrible place."
"you write so beautifully... the inside of your mind must be a terrible place."
I am a Novella/Lit writer when invested in it, and will only shorten responses if the scene hits a dramatic point where reaction is most likely to happen for my partner that is extreme, or sudden. We can always discuss things as well. Communication is important to me, how well an RP is being received is a big deal! The more details that are given to me, the more invested I will become. I do not need perfection, I am hardly perfect myself, but I would like the person writing with me to care enough to attempt to make what they are saying coherent and legible. Call me out if my response breaks your brain; I can easily edit it or hell, I really did make no damn sense and need to fix it up.
When it comes to planning, world-building, and character creation. I do not do HALF-MEASURES. I do not want to make a cookie-cutter OC just to get the ball rolling–there is a lot to do to make the OC I create fit a world of our choosing. There is depth in the world. How can we possibly love Batman in his entirety if we do not UNDERSTAND Gotham City? Your environment your OC thrives in, and is built in is important to me. And the worlds I made for my OC's to play around in, ARE important to me.
- Fandom-related writing: I am willing to play around in a fandom world, as OC, or CANON characters. But NOT CCxOC. Only CCxCC, or OCxOC.
- Pairings: I am a predominant mlm writer, and have been since the dark days of AIM. I have always preferred writing through the lens of a man. So my writing will flow better if the OC across from mine is male (trans/cis). I have written wlw and enjoyed it.
- Genres: So many, a ridiculous amount.
- High Fantasy: DND-esque, Magic-Inspired.
- Low Fantasy: Subtle magical worlds, Modern magical worlds, etc, you get it.
- Slice of Life: This one can get ---boring if not careful. I enjoy it enough that I can dabble for a time.
- Dystopian: Let's FIGHT the Government lads. Let's fucking go ape shit on an Alien Virus set to destroy the party.
- Crime/Thriller: Neo-Noir? 1920's Noir style beat. Los Angeles during the height of American cinema in the 1940's. Jack the Ripper-type shit. Let's go solve a murder in London. 1880's baby.
- Sci-Fi: Star Wars, Space Opera. DESTINY2-esque.
- Romance: All kinds, gothic, regency era, LGBTQIA+, SLOW BURN, Forbidden Love, etc.
Even MORE talking...
"The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt."
"The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt."
I write verse/switches primarily. I do NOT write just a top, or just a bottom. I will not use my space to yuck anyone's yum, but I will make it clear that this is not what I am here for. I am a queer writer that enjoys the aspect of all relationships dynamics.
Response Times: I tend to take 2-3 days for a response, depending on how my work week is looking. If it's lighter, I can easily find the time from work/family/obligations and reply within 24hrs. If something isn't working for my partner, I do hope they will reach out and communicate the issue. No one likes to feel ignored, and I am NOT one to do so if I can help it. But life is life, you know? Sometimes wants get put on the backburner so that needs are met. GHOSTING is not okay. We're adults [I ONLY RP with 21+ individuals for this very reason] let's communicate if something is not working out, and how a response is NOT happening because of how you feel.
Contact: Please contact via private message to discuss things further! I would like to know that we're on the same page before agreeing to anything.
Preferences: Man this is where it's hard. I generalize it all because there is someone out there that has an amazing story and something I say I prefer may stop them from giving it a whirl. So, I will simply say, these genres are my favorite, and I will happily play around in these sandboxes;
- High Fantasy
- Low Fantasy
- Dystopian
- Sci-Fi
- Crime/Thriller
- Romance
- Dragon Age
- Mass Effect
- Zenless Zone Zero
- Honkai Star Rail
- Genshin Impact
- Destiny 2
- Dishonored
HUGE DISLIKES: BIG ICKS: I am forever learning what I hate as I am sure everyone here is figuring out things they never thought they'd dislike too. For now, these are the ones that will immediately have me absconding from your RP; sorry, but I am NOT going to partake in things that make my panic rise, or gross me out.
- ALL that are against Site Rules
- Vore / EXCESSIVE Gore.
- Waste / Bodily Fluids (you know the ones).
- BDSM [this can be discussed, there are aspects that are appealing to me, but there is far more wrong with it that I will have to just personally discuss it with my writing partner]
- Humiliation
- Abuse [Sexual Beatings/Rape].
I love interaction, and learning more about the worlds that people have made, sometimes thats all it takes to love something, to hear how passionate someone is about it. I have two Worlds, with maps attached to them. Can share more about them upon request.
- World of Kandon | DND-style world, with all the typical elements. Elves be elven, Dwarves be dwarven. And there is Vampire covens that are a lot nicer than you would think. Blood banks made specifically for them? Sure. All manner of creature, cryptid, and monster that wish to domesticate, and change for the better are given the necessary needs.
- World of Lhun | DND-stype world that had an event occur: The Dampening Event, where all magic big and small was muted, and some all out removed from the world. Creatures and beings of magic became trapped within their visage if they were in it at the time of the event (30 years ago), and the ones that were not in a visage at the time find themselves weakened, barely a shell of what there true power used to be.
If that works for you then reach out!
I have four characters ready for use here: Phovick's Character Corner.
