hey, grim here.

this is my first time making one of these here, but i have what i've used for other roleplaying sites so i hope this suffices! it seems like my interests are always shifting as i definitely feel as if i have an eclectic type of personality, so with this simple format i'm hoping to make it serve as a platform where i can express all of such things. i suppose i should start off with revealing a bit about myself, which is that im twenty one and i go by she/her. i've been roleplaying for almost ten years, on and off but i've written practically the entire time. i'm obsessed with reading, especially now that i've finally gotten into it more lately. i enjoy rather dark themes when it comes to roleplays, and a lot of heartache with a few tears sprinkled on top.

i favor romance above all else, so anything we do must have it (don't worry, i'm not one of those that need to have it as the entire plot, but i'm just not interested in anything platonic). my availability can fluctuate, but i'd like to think that i'm pretty active. as for writing level, i'm advanced to semi-advanced lit. i don't like to write anything under three or four paragraphs, so i ask that my partner is the same way. my preferred gender pairing is mxf, along with anything nonbinary (we can discuss more about that personally!) and as for mxf, i'd like for my character to be the female. i'm open to other gender pairings as well but prominently looking for my preferred one at the moment.

now, moving on to rules!

writing length: i would like my partner to be able to write at least three paragraphs or more. i'm all for quality over quantity, but it's hard to see "quality" when you're giving me either a one-liner or just a single paragraph. it's also rather hard to be inspired to respond, especially if it's in return to let's say my five-paragraph response. piggy-backing onto this, please be at least semi-advanced lit! or have a good understanding of grammar, everyone makes common mistakes (there's probably a few in my own thread haha), but if it's hard to understand what you're writing i will not bother trying to respond. ooc is different.
writing perspectives: i will only roleplay in third person, this isn't negotiable.

and here we are, finally, to plots! (any listed are inspired by books, and tv shows. if you recognize them, that's even better! those that i'm currently not interested in or have filled will be lined out and placed at the bottom)

the flame and the flower (historical) (highly craving): set at the turn of the nineteenth century, muse a is a penniless orphan, and ends up killing her uncle after he whisks them way from his abusive sister only to do the same himself and try to force himself upon her. fleeing the scene, near the london dockside, muse a is mistaken for a prostitute by two seamen who seize her and escort her onto a ship. this begs for muse a to think she had been arrested for murder, but that doesn't prove to be true as she is put forth muse b, the captain of the merchant ship. after learning of muse a's situation, muse b allows them to seek haven within his ship and the evening soon turns into one of passion due to a few bottles of alcohol along with the undeniable attraction they have for each other. waking up and finding what has become of muse a's virginity which is now lost to muse b, muse b tries to soothe her from the fact she cannot be wed by another by offering to set her up in an affluent house as their mistress since he has more than a share of wealth which only angers muse a and she declines before fleeing the ship. unbeknownst to muse a, the reason muse b suggested such a thing was because he was betrothed to another for the mere sake of regaining land that was taken from his family by hers. weeks later, the night left muse a pregnant, and as her aunt and uncle find out they track down muse b due to a friend of her late father's being a magistrate. muse a and muse b are then forced to marry, and neither is pleased with their new situation. over the next few months, as they prepare for and undertake a voyage to muse b's manor within the carolina's of america, will their feelings for each other begin to soften?

a season beyond a kiss (historical): muse a's marriage to dashing american shipping magnate, muse b, signals the beginning of a wonderful new life for her. forced to flee england due to a lie blemishing her father's knightly name and losing not only her father, but her mother on the voyage over because of treachery and trickery, muse a is almost run over by a stray carriage when she is saved by muse b. upon this meeting, it is love at first sight (although neither admit it) and then her "long lost uncle" comes into the picture, selling her off in marriage without her consent or knowing. once this is revealed, with rifles and a lot of tussling, muse b decides to marry her. now, in the loving shelter of her husband's embrace, the pain of loss is diminished, as is muse a's anger over her family's tragic and undeserved disgrace. but try as she might, she cannot close her ears to the cruel accusations and whispered rumors about her new spouse that buzz around her head like bees when a young girl claims to sire his child - an act he has no recollection of. yet, muse b knows he is innocent --- though he is unaware of the conspiracy that has shrouded his marriage in secrets and now imperils it with lies. and he will oppose the treachery with every fiber of his being in order to preserve his threatened happiness --- to win back the trust of the woman he cherishes ... and secure his place forever in his beloved muse a's heart.

the elusive flame (historical): muse a has been left destitute and in dire need following the death of her doting patron and protectress. a brilliant young artist tossed from her home with only the clothes on her back, muse a must now turn to a childhood companion for assistance --- the dashing sea captain muse b --- and beg him to provide her with passage to the carolinas. she seeks a new home and a new life across the waters in the home of her uncle, a local schoolteacher, but all depends upon the kindness of a charming adventurer who was once the object of her youthful infatuation. beneath muse b's rugged exterior beats a heart as large and wild as the atlantic, and he readily agrees to aid muse a --- even offering her his name in marriage, albeit temporarily, to protect his longtime friend from scandal. but perilous secrets, determined enemies and tempests of the sea and soul threaten their future and safe passage even as bonds of camaraderie are miraculously reforged as bonds of desire ... and affection becomes passion and love.

they both die at the end... or do they? (modern/distopian: taking place in an alternate contemporary universe, one life-altering technological advancement, a company called Death-Cast, mysteriously knows everyone who's going to die in any given day (but not how or when) and alerts each of those people somewhere between midnight and three a.m. muse a receives their death cast call which emits a special ring so you know it's them, at midnight. it's horrifying timing because muse a had lost her entire family to such a call a year ago. they have no one to support them or say goodbye to on their final day on earth. in another part of town, muse b receives his death-cast call. these two "deckers" (the name bestowed upon anyone whose been alerted) end up meeting via an app called "last friend", which matches up people to spend their final days together. upon meeting, the two try to make their last few hours together memorable and also make sure the other doesn't die before midnight comes back around, falling in love along their short journey. though, when their days are supposed to end and the two are expected to die, also glad they were able to make it as long as they did... they don't kick the bucket. for the first time in history, not only one decker but two make it out alive, and now they are no longer sympathized with but targeted.

there once was upon a time (modern): muse a is a children's book author, although some could argue that their stories with their harsh life lessons and gory illustrations are for anyone but children, who suffers from antisocial personality disorder. being born from money, success isn't a term they're foreign with. they grew up almost like royalty, a victorian mansion within the forest of the mountains being the place they called home. behind the scenes, however, their up-bringing was anything but a fairy tale. the only sense of normalcy muse a had was that of the distant relationship with a young child who was in love with them, but unforeseen circumstances ripped them apart. muse b is a psychiatric hospital caretaker with an older brother with special needs, on the much more poor side of their hometown. they fantasized about the child who lived in the scary castle isolated from anyone else for miles, even going to the extent of bringing flowers to leave at the gate of their property or following them around. unfortunately, it became quite evident that they were something they would never be able to obtain as their mother is murdered and they are forced to run away with their brother so the two aren't separated by the state. as time passes, muse a and b's paths cross as muse a does a reading for the admitted children within the mental hospital he works at, and an escaped patient targets them to which muse b comes to the rescue. thus, their once upon a time resumes.

child of the pirate king (historical): muse a is the child of a ruthless man who reigns over the sea as his personal kingdom, dawning the "pirate king" title, and is put on a certain mission by him: rob one of the three famous pirate lord bloodlines of their map piece which connects an ancient puzzle that leads to a certain island piled high with siren treasure. in this undercover heist, they are willingly caught by muse b's crew and taken as a prisoner for ransom. unfortunately, muse b proves to be quite formidable and pesky, always catching muse a during their cell escapes and preventing them from looking for the map piece. muse b isn't making this easy for muse a, but they seem to understand muse a more than most, though muse b is quick to suspect that muse a may be more than they appear.
