A table for two
There's a table, sitting in the middle of the room with two cups of coffee.
One for me—one for you.
Have a seat, maybe you're who I've been waiting for.
One for me—one for you.
Have a seat, maybe you're who I've been waiting for.
Hello, I'm Nobilis.
There are few things that I love more than a good story—we are all stories in the end.
I've been writing for almost 30 years. I am friendly and I love weaving together words to create something magical. I live for magic in my stories—though it need not be in a fantasy setting. All my stories have a little bit of magic in the the world.
Dreams can come true.
Prophecies can be fulfilled.
Magic in daily life.
Come tell a story with me.
Love and Loathe
Love
♡ Normal people unknowingly meeting extraordinary creatures;
♡ People pulled together by twists of fate;
♡ Impossible to resist (try as you might) pairings;
♡ Mysteries and explorations of parts of the soul;
♡ Enemies becoming lovers; and lovers becoming enemies.
Loathe
I begrudge no one for liking fandoms, but they do not appeal to me.
I have a high tolerance for violence and sensitive subject matter, but smut bores me. Sex may be part of a story at times, but will always fade to black. I happy for people who enjoy writing it, but I have no interest in doing so—you will not be the one to change my mind, I promise.
Schedule
I have fairly flexible availability throughout the day, though my schedule can waver between quiet and breakneck. There will be times when I have more time, and times when I do not. I try to be very understanding about the realities of life try to keep my partners informed. On that note, I'm a very communicative person. I like making sure that my partner is happy and that we are on the same page. I'll ask for opinions and thoughts, but also voice concerns.
If you want straight roleplay with minimal communication on the side, I'm not that person. My replies tend to vary based on the story pacing—arguments and conflicts lean towards shorter responses while setting and exposition can be quite long. Writing is something I love to practice, and I hope my partner writes in a way that is comfortable for them.
Just be you. That's more than enough.

Euphemia (you-FEE-mia) hails from the Eternal City of Tethis. Having lost her parents at a very young age, this freckled tiefling found that music helped her to fill the spaces left in her heart. When her uncle passed, there were no more immediate family members for her to remain tethered to and so she's decided to set out into the world, a bard ready to play the taverns and streets of the world, to bring joy and happiness where she can.

A tragic little song about a little girl lost. Learns about the world, but who knows at what cost. Without ma' and pa' the lessons were tough. Raised by an uncle who taught her to bluff. Always from Tethis, and never the world. She thought to herself that she'd give it a whirl. And off she went, a song on her lips. To play the great city, if only for tips.

Be it flute or lute, or piano or lyre. The girl's love for music has been but desire. From a wee little age, the wee little lass. Has managed all songs with nothing but class. Alas the poor girl, with such songs in her head. Needed a knife of she'd likely end dead. So practice she did, with blades and with notes. The world was dangerous but she'd sow her own oats.

the story
⠀
Euphemia, born in Tethis, lost her mother in childbirth and her father to a mining accident. She was precocious and smart as a whip, and could often talk herself out of whatever trouble she was able to get herself into. In fact, she was able to talk herself into lots of trouble, too. Erring on the side of caution, her maternal uncle put a lute in her hands and a flute in her mouth in the hopes that she'd shut up and stop getting in trouble.
This plan failed gloriously but gave the girl a love for life and a purpose and meaning. She would tell her uncle that she would one day play the biggest cities in the world, and when he died, she made that a promise. Now, alone, it was her time to set out.

Mina does not have many possessions. She travels light, often only with a bag containing a change of clothes, an old hat that belonged to her father, her sword, and her earrings. Her earrings, a gift from her mother on her nameday, always glow a warm orange colour—and are the reason some have taken to calling her firefly.⠀
the story
⠀
Mina died when she was thirteen. Bleeding out in the mud and blood of a massacre. Her back hurt, and the heavy rain that washed down on her did little to cool the searing heat coming from the wound near her spine. Had he missed on purpose? Or had she simply gotten lucky? Could this even be called "luck"? She couldn't see anything out of her left eye. She was almost certain that it was gone. Why had it happened? She remembered her mother and father's face. She remembered her brother's face.
They'd forever be burned into her memory and would fill her heart with sorrow and rage.
When she woke up again, she didn't know where she was. She had been found and taken to a nearby village. The massacre was known. But her survival was kept a secret.
So she promised. She promised her mother and her father that they would be avenged. And that she would be the one to do it.
She would train. Despite not wanting to.
She would fight. Even though she preferred to love.
She would kill. But everything in her mind and body screamed at her not to.
The path was set before her, and she wanted nothing more than to never have been placed on it in the first place.

Alexis (ah-LEXIS) is a pleasant and happy-go-lucky siren who has left her life under the sea to explore the vast reaches of dry land. She thinks that she's the first siren who will visit it all. What all is, she's not actually, entirely, totally sure of what that means... exactly. But whatever it does mean, she'll be the one to do it. Whatever it is.
Fond of songs, people, animals, and songs, Alex (because only her parents call her Alexis) travels, here and there, just to see what she can find. Or who she can find.

They say that a siren lives beneath the waves and that they lure people to the depths with song. Alex never quite understood that, and it always seemed far more interesting (at least in her mind) to just go to wherever those people were. Perhaps it was an overactive case of wanderlust, or maybe the sea was boring—whatever the motivator, she found herself on land with no plan.

There is a reason why a siren's song is so famous. It is beautiful and deadly and generally a real hoot to listen to. When Alex is breathing water, her scales will show on her skin, and they're a myriad of diamond flecks and sapphire shards.
| Water-breathing: Her line of Sirens originate from the sea, but are comfortable both in and out of the water. Her lungs are able to switch between water and air easily, but she does need to take a moment to adjust between mediums.
| Swimming: Alex is a very adept swimmer and her ability to navigate through water is masterful. She is a very fast swimmer and can often out swim even the most competent land-dwellers. She does not require swimming equipment, which she considers 'bulky' and 'in the way'. She does not require any protective equipment to cover her eyes and salinity has no impact on her vision. Excessive pollution or something in the water may cause irritation depending on what it is.
| Intuition: Sirens have a strong ability to measure the character of an individual. They often make snap judgements about character and are rarely wrong. This ability is not without downsides, as purposeful masking of identity can cause a Siren to dislike individuals that they would normally like, and can also cause them to assume someone to be less dangerous than they actually are.
| Internal compass: While Alex is notoriously bad with directions and maps, she has a deep and innate understanding of compass directions. She can locate north, south, east and west effortlessly. She also has a general understanding of where bodies of water are located. She can find rivers, lakes, and oceans quite easily (though getting to them may take time). She has more difficulty finding smaller bodies of water (creeks, puddles, etc.).
| Pass for Human: Sirens have no difficulty at all passing as Human and are almost impossible to distinguish from them.
| Musically attuned: Sirens are able to pick up musical instruments almost immediately; they typically only require a few minutes of 'toying' with the instrument to learn the mechanics of it. Their ability to play music on instruments borders on supernatural, but is actually more akin to 'adjusting' already existing knowledge (much in the same way that one who knows how to swim would just take a bit of adjusting before they were able to swim through a more dense medium). Sirens love finding new instruments and once they learn how to plan an instrument, they never forget how to play it nor do they 'get rusty'.
| Singing: All Sirens are exceptional singers, and can sing expertly without any training. They have a very wide vocal range, but always have personal preferences. A Siren's ability to sing generally has two forms: Natural and Enthralling. Natural songs are no different than the songs of a human. They have no impact on an individual beyond the impact that any song may have (if people like music, they may like a song; if people dislike music, they may dislike it). Natural songs have no ability to tangibly impact the world around them. Enthralling songs are a thing of legend; the story of Sirens luring ships to crash on the craggy rocks off coasts, while generally not a thing that Sirens enjoy doing, are not without some degree of truth. Enthralling songs have supernatural effects, and can range depending on the intention of the Siren. Enthralling songs can be used by a Siren so long as they are able to make noise (humming, whistling, etc., can have an effect).
| Magpie: Typically whistled or hummed, this song is extremely appealing to small animals. This can cause most animals to trust a Siren and will permit the Siren to touch, pet, or interact with animals in ways that would be impossible for humans to do at will.
| Sirenum scopuli: Is a song of belonging; typically sung by a Siren when they return home after a long time away. It is also sung in memory of home, especially when a Siren has been away from the sea for a long time. This song is able to temporarily create a sense of belonging in an individual or group. This can cause people to become less aggressive, and more accepting of strangers where they normally might not be. This song cannot remove feelings of deep-seeded hatred, though it may be able to pacify anger so as to avoid direct conflict.
| Aglaopheme: Is a melancholic and lambent song that draws forth deep emotions. People hearing this song tend to become very introspective and focused on their own mental issues. This is not an inherently negative effect; some examples include 'thinking about a long lost love' or 'the life decisions made in youth'. This song can cause strong emotional reactions in people who are prone to feeling emotions strongly, but has little effect on dissociative individuals who have difficulty or are unable to connect to their own feelings.
| Thelxiepeia: When people imagine Sirens luring sailors to their doom with honeyed songs, they are thinking of Thelxiepeia. This is a song that inspires deep and utter devotion and obsession with the Siren. Its effects can be devastating and long lasting as the affections of the listener can take a great deal of time to forget. While all Sirens are able to sing this song, some are better at it than others. Alex is very good at singing this song, but also dislikes it because it subverts a person's own decisions and free will. However, this song, can be a very effective defence for a Siren who is in danger.
| Calliope: This song causes damage (temporary) to eardrums and can induce pain, nausea, extreme dizziness, and unconsciousness. Alex will not use this ability unless her life is in mortal peril. This song does not affect creatures that are unable to hear, but will have effects on creatures that have ears as the song also causes distortions in fluids in ears. This song can be lethal under water.
