Add in equal measure,
On a low to medium heat.

🍵

Over open flame,
Into copper, maybe brass.
A vessel handed down,
Holding stories,
From your past.

First,
Black tea leaf,
A teaspoon, maybe two.
Dark and full-bodied,
Imported, like you.

Clove,
And cardamom,
Star anise.
The spices that make you different,
That make you vibrant, and complete.

The fire they find surprising,
Is the ginger, peeled and chopped.
Not too much, now,
Don't scare them.
If you're too much,
You'll be swapped.

Cinnamon,
The common ground,
To make up, appeal to them.
Be different,
But be palatable,
Amongst the rest,
Be a gem.

Whole milk,
Or soy,
Whichever you prefer.
Simmer gently,
Like your passion,
And your temper, to be fair.

And finally,
Like your love,
Sweet,
Without haste;
Wholesome and long lasting,

Add honey to taste.

🍯
