About Me
My name is Ephemerous, but feel free to shorten it for ease of typing. I also go by Lynn, or Alloy. I've been roleplaying on and off at varying levels for the last few years. I started back in 2018, and have been around on several different forums, Discord servers, and the like. I've taken a break in the last year and a half, and am now looking forward to getting back into the swing of things. I work in a hospital as a lab technician, and have done so for the last two years. I'm a very avid reader, so please feel free to suggest books to me! I always try to let everyone get at least one suggestion.
Most of my non-reading free time is taken up by cooking, playing video games, and (hopefully!) roleplaying. I have a pretty variable schedule, so my presence will hop around in an odd pattern at times. If we end up speaking much outside of this website, I use Discord or email for my primary methods of communication. I go more into detail about my schedule later, but I will endevor to be online at least one day a week, chilling and available to contact.
About My Roleplay
I write primarily 1-on-1 in third person past tense, though I am open to ensemble roleplay if there are at most four central characters. I do not roleplay in groups, with the exception of those I have already done a 1-on-1 with. For genre, I have primarily roleplayed in original-work sci-fi or fantasy settings. I additionally enjoy horror and romance as subgenres, though sometimes I need a break, especially from horror threads. As a general rule, I prefer to write in original settings with original characters, either those pre-made before a roleplay, or custom made for a specific thread. My characters tend to be women, both cisgender and trans, in FxF, MxF, or NxF pairings. I also write as men, though in those cases I tend to prefer the pairing still be MxF.
About Replies
I write semi-lit to lit length replies. This translates to 1-3, or 2-5 paragraphs, depending on what I have to work with from the previous post. Opening posts and highly emotional or charged moments tend to be the maximum of my writing, while I recline back into shorter posts of a kind of flow develops for a scene where shorter replies are more appropriate. I make an effort to length-match my writing partner, however, if replies begin to dwindle to less than a paragraph per post, I will likely reach out to see if there is a loss of interest.
About My Schedule
My posting schedule will be variable: I work four 10-hour shifts a week, and will not have enough time to post on days where I have sequential shifts. This occurs between 1 and 4 times per week. Don't sweat trying to figure it out. I will post at least once per week, with notifications if my schedule gets nasty and I cannot post that week.
About Gore
I have a high tolerance for gore and certain types of violence. My limitations for violence are: violence of explicit detail regarding the genitals, eyes, or toes. I am typically unbothered by gore, though I don't enjoy engaging in gore in sexual scenarios. When I write horror, it is typically a body-horror or slasher type of thread, with all the details implied therein. Blood, descriptions of people-as-meat, generic violent death, etc. Specific details for this are preferably set prior to the start of a thread. I am more than willing to scale back to land within someone else's comfort range.
About NSFW Content
I write sexual content in the context of romance stories, mostly. If it isn't something with explicit romantic intentions for the characters at the beginning, it's pretty rare for me to want to engage in that kind of writing. My limitations are pretty standard; anything with scat, anything with gore, anything with urine. I also strongly dislike certain language used in erotica, particularly that which describe transgender or non-binary characters derogatorily. When I write explicit content, I usually stick to BDSM stuff at a maximum, and pretty vanilla stuff at a minimum. Personal preference for a story involving specific kinks or types of explicit content can be discussed prior to starting a roleplay, and can be hashed out in detail there.
About Fandoms
I do not have a history of writing in fandom. I do not, as a rule, play pre-existing characters from media, and I do not roleplay with people playing as pre-existing characters from media. I am open to suggestions for playing in a pre-existing setting, but any persons being played in the roleplay would need to be original. I am not opposed to taking exisitning settings and tweaking them either.
About Pairings and Settings
I love writing opposed pair dynamics. A lot of enemies or antagonists attempting to best each as they grow and change by their mutual experiences. My document containing my plot ideas will contain some pairings, but I'll also list some here. Bolded text indicates a role I prefer to play. A lack of bolding indicates I can go either way with the pairing.
