The surface world is vast and to someone who only lives within the ocean, it holds so much more. A merman one evening happens upon a coastal village named Merrowdeep, crawling onto the empty shores and begins the painful process of shedding his tail.
Another is nearby, a collector of sorts (mayhap) with an obsession with the ocean and all things within. He watches this process, having accidently stumbled upon it on their way home, with utmost fascination and curiosity. When the merman is attempting to walk on his newfound legs, the stranger introduces themselves and gives them a place to stay (and some clothes! He's naked!).
He shows the merman around town and the merman repeatedly returns to visit, though he has no idea of a darker secret the stranger has; he really collects all forms life from the ocean and displays it.
Just a plot I kind of really want to do, figured I'd separate it for some attention. This is meant to get dark, it's at least the idea behind it. How dark we can discuss via PMs. Anything further you want to know, my main RT is linked at the side and I am always open to talk to directly. YC will be the human collector that he gets entangled with. YC's background/interests etc do not have to be what is listed above but it should have to do with the ocean.
