ooh boy! a new rp request thread! i have a lot of thoughts and ideas, and i am also a formatting and systems goblin, so i'm going to try to make this as easy to navigate and understand as possible. please use the table of contents below to navigate. clicking on any tab will open up the relevant information. if you have any questions, please PM me!

about me
hi, i'm ondine (they/them) and i'm in my 20s. i've been rp'ing since i was a teenager on forums and chatrooms alike. i've only recently rediscovered my passion for character writing after what must have been some amount of years. i continued to write semi-regularly for ttrpgs when i began dm'ing d&d and call of cthulhu games during the pandemic (wow! it's been a few years now, huh?) with primarily homebrew settings. with that said, i'm a big sucker for worldbuilding, character growth, drama, and the indomitable nature of pride. i'm only interested in writing mxm but as someone who's gender non-conforming, i'm also happy to engage with varying degrees of masculinity/masculine presentation/etc. however, i will only write smut between characters who possess standard male genitalia (regardless of how they present themselves - i would happily engage with amab enby characters, for example). i'm also happy to write characters of any gender if it is required by the plot/there's need for npcs within the story.

you might be wondering now, then, what do i like to write? well, that's a great question! my interests are incredibly varied - i have been a diehard medieval fantasy enjoyer from a very young age, and i love fantasy in any form or fashion (modern, historical, and sci-fi). i also enjoy slice of life, romance, and horror. i love a good degree of psychological horror as well as anything that touches cosmic horror or fear of the unknown. at the end of the day, what i like to write ends up coming down to what characters i'm writing. my only usual demand is that there is some drama present - whether in the setting itself, between the characters, the characters and the others around them, etc. i can do feel good fluffy plots every now and then, but i have to be in the mood for them. further below, you'll find a list of fandoms and universes i'm interested in, as well as plots i'm happy to incorporate into pre-existing ships OR original characters. i began my rp journey with fandom rp but over the years i have also developed a love for original characters and worldbuilding.

i write exclusively in 3rd person. i only want to rp with others who also do 3rd person. i'm not picky as to whether you use past/present tense. i don't care about how you write ooc - especially considering i'm not fond of capitalization ooc - but i expect functional grammar and spellcheck in rp. i'm no english teacher or grammar snob but i do feel a little put off when it feels like my partner didn't re-read their reply at least once to catch very obvious mistakes.

concerning reply length and post frequency - i consider myself to be a multi-para writer as a usual minimum, and novella when i'm really into it or if a lot of information needs to be communicated. that being said, i believe there's a natural order to how much a person can write in a rp. is there a lot of dialogue with a lot of action? then shorter replies might be necessary to not make assumptions about someone's character. are we in an exposition phase? then longer replies might be needed to communicate the details of the scene and character emotions. all in all, so long as it looks like you're putting effort in, i won't complain - but if your regular max is usually one to two paragraphs at most, we might not be compatible in this department. i'm currently working part-time and have a lot of free time on my hands, so it won't be unheard of to see me reply multiple times in a day. however, i know not everyone has that freedom, and i don't expect that from you (though i would be very excited if you could). at the minimum, i'd want at least a weekly reply - and if you need longer time, let me know! i'm an understanding person and have always said IRL comes before anything else. all i ask is that you communicate and i'll do the same for you. if you lose interest, i'd much rather you let me know than ghosting me, and i'll completely understand! life happens, interests change, no worries. if something that i wrote didn't make sense (believe it or not, english actually isn't my first language), or it didn't suit your tastes, or you wanted to go a different direction - let me know and i'll pivot! i don't mind having to do a little rewriting if it'll keep my partner happy and keep things going. overall, all i ask is that you communicate. this is a collaborative effort after all!
RP-related info
regarding gore/violent content: i'm all for it! i'm no gore aficionado but i do have a fascination with the things that perturbed minds are capable of. psychological horror/thriller is one of my favorite genres, and i also do love a good fight between characters. blood, biting, scratching, brawling, and bruising between our characters is fine in my book. i also love a toxic, obsessive, and dangerous relationship as much as the next guy. however. my line is very clear: i will not engage in rps where our characters inflict major harm to each other. mutilation, severe physical, psychological and/or sexual abuse, and murder of each other are off the table for me. i'm fine with violent content that involves npcs - say, A is a vampire or serial killer and commits a variety of atrocities as part of the plot. this is fine! and welcomed, even. i quite like the dynamic of a character who is generally violent and dangerous ending up with someone who considers that a fascinating aspect of them (regardless of whether they're dangerous themselves or not). when in doubt, ask! i'm more than happy to clearly define the boundaries that our characters will engage in ahead of time.

regarding sexual content: i'm all for it, and expect majority of my rps to contain some amount of sexual content. however, i'm not interested in pure smut plots very often (it can happen, but i can't make promises!), and i far prefer for plot to encompass the majority of the rp. the most smut content that i'll write is a 60/40 split of plot to smut, and the least amount of smut that i expect to write is 80/20 of plot to smut. for a detailed list of my interests and limits, please look at my f-list. please be aware that my characters will have varying preferences of my own list of interests, and even if some of them might be interested in things from the no category, i will not be rp'ing anything in the no category (or anything that breaks site rules). for example, "fear" is in my maybe category, but some of my characters would definitely have it as a "yes" or "fave" category. my "maybe" category is more of a passive interest rather than a question. i enjoy consensual sex, but i also enjoy dubious consent and consensual nonconsent. i do not enjoy actual noncon. i'm also a firm believer that dom ≠ top and sub ≠ bottom. top and bottom, for me, are terms exclusively related to (in the context of gay sex) who does the penetrating and who is penetrated. dom and sub are traditionally related to bdsm roles, but i also consider them to relate to who's more likely to take initiative and "lead" an encounter. that being said... i write characters in every position and dynamic. which role i want depends on the character being used in rp. my favorite dynamics tend to involve two dom characters. i enjoy writing dom/bottoms (powerbottoms) the most, and i also love seeing a struggle for control with their partner (aka pitting them against equally dominant tops). that being said, i'm more than comfortable writing dom/tops, sub/tops, sub/bottoms - again, it all depends on which characters are involved. however, if you're looking to ask me to play dom/top characters, i would like to have two simultaneous rps or have an agreement to at least switch top/bottom roles during a subsequent rp. i'm tired of being the service dom/top in every rp i do. i do not enjoy switching who tops/bottoms throughout the rp, but changes in dom/sub are fine, hence why i'd prefer to double up or flip top/bottom in a subsequent rp. if you're not willing to switch around, i'm not interested, sorry! i'm probably only making an exception in the case of certain fandom ships but do not come around expecting it.
universes i'm interested in
these are pre-existing universes that i'd love to use for either fandom-related characters (aka AU's/crossovers) or ocs! bold indicates a drastic level of interest.
vampire knight (manga/anime by matsuri hino)
tokyo ghoul (manga/anime by sui ishida)
faerûn (D&D using the 5e/2024 system in written rp)
eberron (D&D using the 5e/2024 system in written rp)
dragon age (particularly during inquisition or veilguard)
yakuza (video game series by sega)
cyberpunk 2077 (video game by cdprojekt red, i have knowledge of/access to the tabletop books as well)
assassin's creed (video game series by ubisoft)
using d&d 5e/2024 for character creation/mechanics in original settings, whether medieval fantasy or modern, historical, scifi, etc.
call of cthulhu (interested in using the tabletop system by chaosium for written rp)
omegaverse (happy to tie it into basically any of my plots or any of the above universes as well)
fandoms
if you're not interested in any canon character related rp, please skip to the plots section! i am EQUALLY interested in original characters, so please don't hesitate to reach out based on the plots i have written out.
the 'misc' category does not reflect less interest - it simply contains fandoms that i only have one/two ships in them that i'm interested in. this list also includes canon characters i'm interested in playing against ocs, and they will be listed as such. the character i'm interested in playing will be listed in bold. if both characters are in bold, it means i have no preference for playing one or the other. i will also denote whether i prefer that character to be the top (T), bottom (B), dom (D), or sub (S). for example, if i want to play character A from fandom XYZ as a dominant bottom, i will write them as A (B, D). if i want to play character B from fandom XYZ as a top who can be either dom or sub, i will write them as B (T, D/S). for the most part, my mind is made up about which characters i want to be tops/bottoms, but there's flexibility around who doms/subs even in the rp itself. if i don't list a ship you're interested in... i may or may not have interest in playing either one of the characters involved, but it doesn't hurt to ask about your rarepair! i might make an exception if its a dynamic i hadn't thought about before and it sounds interesting. ships are also in no particular order of interest! i'd say i'm probably equally interested in all of them.

plots
i don't usually make characters before i start a rp. i much prefer to craft one from scratch to truly mold them around the plot in mind and my partner's preferences (and i also prefer drawn faceclaims over real people). however, if you have a pre-existing oc that you're dying to try out and put them into one of these plots, please reach out and tell me about them!!! i would love to hear about it!!! these plots are designed to be used with any of the ships i listed in the fandom category or with entirely original characters. none of them are set in stone either - if you like the vibe of one of them but would like to make tweaks/additions/removals, also feel free to reach out! the misc. category contains general dynamics i enjoy, but have not crafted a thought out plot around them. that means... that's where you can come in! tell me about it and we can craft something together! lastly, if i have a preference for a role, it will be denoted in the plot section itself, and you will notice a distinct lack of top/bottom or dom/sub roles in here - meaning, i have no preferences for which character does what. we will discuss those before starting rp.
  • themes: gore, psychological thriller, crime, drama
setting: modern or historical, can add occult elements

A sleepy, crime-ridden, metropolitan city is stirred into terror and morbid curiosity as a series of strange murders have occurred. Every other week or so, the body of a man is found dead - and the common thread? Well, they are all of similar appearance... and found with carvings on their flesh that resemble intricate tattoos. Bits of flesh, carefully plucked and cut, removed from their backs, chests, arms and stomachs. The bodies are regularly placed in places where they will be found quickly before decomposition can settle in, as if the killer wants them to only be found in their pristine condition where skin hasn't begun to shrunk or rot. That's of those that have been found, at least. The local police has been pouring their resources into their brighter detectives to no avail until a superior makes a bold suggestion: find a detective that matches the killer's ideal victim and turn him into bait.

Character A is the serial-killer. His day job? A works as a surgeon, surgeon nurse, or in the police department's coroner's office, and is bored with the mundanity and mediocrity of his day to day life. Character B is the chosen detective - either a department veteran or a rookie with a tough case to crack. A is incredibly thorough and clean, leaving no viable traces behind to aid in his investigation. B finds himself in a precarious position - with no leads and out of ideas, he's caught off guard when the phone rings one late night in his office. And so, A begins the game between him and his perfect victim. Is B drowned in the same spiral of violence? Is he able to resist A's charming performance? Does he become obsessed with the artistic nature of A's killings? What will he do?

preference: I would prefer for my character to be A.
  • themes: character bonds/growth, traveling companions, rivals to lovers
    setting: medieval or sci-fi fantasy

Everyone has a duty to the Queen. Everyone has a role they were born to play. This society engages in drastic levels of education and classifying of their people with little flexibility for dreams and self-interest. Deep in the royal palace, an ancient curse afflicts the Queen's only son, leaving him ill, bedridden, and unfit for the throne. The Queen, aging and concerned for the safety of her bloodline, tasks her most loyal general with finding someone capable of breaking the family curse in secrecy. If it got out that her son was ill, especially to their enemies, it would be a recipe for being invaded. The general agrees with her judgement and begins scouring their kingdom for someone capable enough to deal with the curse.

In the end, it had to be him, didn't it? The general recalls his days training in the Academy and the fellow student who always got in his nerves. If anyone would be crazy enough to seek the type of knowledge to break (or create) such a powerful curse, he certainly would have. Gods above, was he really going to reach out to him out of every other mage in the kingdom?

Yes, he would. Character A is an outcast, occultist mage who resides in the outer districts of the kingdom, taking up odd jobs from dealing with whispering nightmares to a poor man's infertility. After graduating at the top of his class, A decided his life wouldn't be spent serving the Queen, and he disappeared before the assignment ceremony. Character B is the Queen's general who has spent the last decade climbing into the position he is in now through loyal hardwork. A and B were always at odds with each other in school even as they belonged in different classes - top students, both of them, with a growing expectation that they would both go on to serve on the Queen's Court. When B finds A's humble cottage, he explains the situation to him, and demands that A finally heed his call to duty and figure out how to break the royal family's curse. A, after much convincing, ends up agreeing - but explains that the materials needed for such a spell are hard to come by, and they'd need to travel across and outside the kingdom to acquire them. The two agree to embark on the journey, and who knows, maybe they'll learn to get along or die trying.
  • themes: vampires! occultism, moral dilemmas, drama
    setting: modern or historical fantasy

Vampires are just a myth. Vampires don't exist. And, certainly, whoever is killing women in the town is some crazed psycho who probably has too many syringes and too much free time at night. The dark alleys of the town make a perfect maze to hunt in. Character A is, in fact, a real vampire. He has recently arrived in this town after fleeing persecution in his previous home, and he's hungry. Character B is... a weirdo. B is downright obsessed with anything occult and cryptic. B's obsession began as a child - when he witnessed something supernatural that no one ever believes actually happened. B immediately recognized that the streak of death was of supernatural origin and he begins to find patterns in A's hunting behavior. His adept knack at analyzing information and patterns allows him to stalk A when he goes out at night - and he's diligent in not being caught.

That is until he's forced to no longer be a passive observer of A's nightly walks. B follows A down a dark alleyway as A leads a woman to her certain death. A's secret is exposed to B as he sinks his fangs into the woman's neck. Petrified, B has to decide what to do. Has his years of obsessive research led him to discovering a method to subdue or control a vampire? Is this the big break B was waiting for to prove to everyone that he's not crazy and supernatural threats do exist? How's he going to handle the now angry A who feels his way of life is threatened by this strange human? Do they come to an agreement? Regardless, something is certain - B needs to figure out what to do, and fast, as A begins to approach him with murderous intent.
  • this is a list of general dynamics i enjoy with no preference for a role (unless otherwise highlighted). i'm happy to use any of these for any fandom or oc rp as a jumping off point to plot together.

    Demon/Incubus x Priest/Cleric/Paladin
    Prince x Knight
    Knight x Knight
    Hunter x Monster
    Hunter x Mage/Witch
    Police x Criminal
    Professor x Student
    Professor x Professor
    Shifter x Human
    Vampire x Vampire
    Assassin x Target
    Stalker x Victim
    Boss x Secretary/Bodyguard
    Scientist x Experiment
    Researcher x Researched Entity
    Artist x Muse
Robots! Robots with robots or robots with humans!
Any degree of rivals/enemies to lovers
    ... and they were roommates!
    Secret Lovers (Outward Enemies)

phew! that was a lot! if you're still here and you're rearing to go, please PM me with what you're interested in and lets get going. i look forward to hearing from you and plotting together. <3
