Hi, friends! You can call me Apollo, or whatever else floats your boat! I'm new to this site, but certainly not writing or rping in general, so I'm excited to jump right in.

A little about me, for those who like that sort of thing: I am male, American, 23 years old, a college student (English and History), a writing coach, a fiction writer and poet, and a gamer. Feel free to ask about whatever else you might feel the need to know.

Here is what I am looking for in a partner:
  • Politeness, above all. No matter what else goes wrong, as long as we can both handle it kindly and respectfully, no problem.
  • Patience. Like I mentioned, I am a double-major college student with a job, as well as other hobbies. My busyness varies greatly with school, so there will be times where I respond multiple times in a day, and other times where you get nothing from me for a few days at a time. Please be able to be understanding of that.
  • A decent grasp on the very basics of creative writing; description, dialogue, tension, plot balance, etc. At this point in my life, it's getting increasingly hard to work with people who are straight-up beginners at writing. If that's you, I wish you well and encourage you to write on, but I'm not the partner for you. That said, you need not consider yourself "advanced". I'm not as pretentious as I might sound.
  • An open mind. Limits are absolutely cool, and I will always respect them. What I mean by this is that I don't want someone coming to me with something along the lines of: "I only play characters that are [gender] [age] [sexuality] [sexual position] [personality archetype]." Please have some flexibility and some creativity.
  • This goes along with the above, but it's important enough to warrant it's own bullet point. I will not write with someone who actively excludes LGBT characters from their repertoire. For instance, if you shoot me a message and I end up checking out your own request thread and see something along the lines of "m/f only, no trans characters", I will decline. There's only one reason why someone goes out of their way to ensure they never have to write an LGBT character, and it's not a pleasant one for me as a gay man. I respectfully ask you do not approach me if you fall into this category.
But what do I offer in exchange for all of that?
  • An advanced writer who values quality over quantity VERY, VERY MUCH. Most of my writing in my professional and academic life is short fiction; I see value in something that is both concise and impactful. Also, I'm just lazy. I do a lot of writing for school and rping is my place for "fun writing". Feeling like I need to make a word count quota is not fun. 2-4 paragraphs is usually where I'm at - more for description-heavy or reflective scenes, less for action or sexy scenes.
  • A partner who is friendly and enjoys whatever level of active collaboration you are comfortable with. Like to chat and squeal and get excited over every single post together? I'm down! Just want to wing it and barely talk to me outside of the rp? Also down!
  • A writer of all genders and sexualities... with a very strong preference for bi and gay males.
  • An understanding partner. I'm busy, so I get when life is busy for you. I won't push you for replies unless I have some legitimate reason to think you actually just forgot.
But what about the fun (sexy) stuff?????
  • I do write smut/erotica. I don't have to. That's basically where I stand on that.
  • I pretty much never want erotica to take up the bulk of the story, unless there's some plot reason for it (and sometimes there is!). Whatever makes sense for the plot and our characters.
  • If you don't want to do sex stuff at all, that is a-okay. Please let me know exactly how far is too far so that I can ensure I never go there. "Fade to black" can mean lots of things, so I might ask you to be more specific.
  • I'll discuss specific likes and dislikes when it comes to that, but as far as limits, it's the usual stuff. You all know the drill - bodily fluids, hardcore sexual violence, and anything extreme or unnatural. Sorry, hardcore kinksters. I hope you find someone soon.
But what about the REAL fun stuff?!!?!?!

Here's what I'm after:
  • Romance (I tend to just assume this is the endgame for most rps I do because I love it so much. Please clarify if you don't want this so I don't overstep :))
  • Historical settings
  • Fantasy settings
  • Dystopian settings
  • Modern, but only with a really interesting, compelling pair of characters.
  • A few fandoms

HISTORICAL
For historical rps, I like it somewhere between 100% historically accurate and completely ridiculous. This genre intimidates a lot of people, so I want to iterate that I don't expect perfection, just a very basic knowledge of the era and a willingness to do a quick Google search (or ask me! I might know). I won't care if you accidentally write your 12th century European character eating corn, for example, but I will probably care if he hops in a car when he's done. Here are some things I'd be interested in:
  • If you haven't guessed, ancient Greece!
  • Ancient Rome
  • Ancient Egypt
  • Medieval Europe
  • Early Colonial America
  • Renaissance Europe
  • Vikings
  • Nobility/royalty
  • Politics/courtly intrigue
  • The often overlooked people of history: average villagers, sex workers, bandits and robbers, etc.
  • Same-sex relationships and gender non-conforming characters played out in historical context
  • Fantasy/horror elements playing off the culture of the time
  • Any pre-1900 era you're interested in! Especially non-Western history, as I don't have lots of experience with that and would find that really fun.
FANTASY
Generally, I'm not really interested in a big world-building situation. See above about me being too lazy to put in that much effort for my "fun writing". I love high fantasy to death, but prefer to rp it in existing fandom settings (see below) simply because of the exhausting world-building element. I have a fondness for pseudo-historical settings with small amounts of fantasy world-building thrown in (for example: a country that feels a lot like medieval England, but isn't, and perhaps their royalty and nobility are actually a demon worshipping cult, or something). Here are some little key words/ideas:
  • Demons
  • Vampires (if done creatively)
  • Cults and other creepy fantasy religion stuff
  • General dark fantasy
DYSTOPIAN
By dystopian, I also mean apocalyptic. I know they aren't necessarily the same thing, but who's gonna sue me? I don't have much to say about this, but it has to be creative. "What if... government was BAD?!??!?!" That's just real life, buddy. I'd ask that we dig a little deeper than that. Actually, you know what would be cool? Utopian. Or one of those utopian societies that turns out to be pretty damn dystopian. Idk. We'll discuss it.

MODERN
This is, oddly enough, going to be where you see the most controversial requests from me. Seriously, there's a reason why I'm a history major. I could not care less about a modern setting for the most part. The only exception: when it can be used to explore really complex, fascinating, and sometimes taboo characters and relationships. I mean, it has to be really interesting to catch my attention if it's a modern, non-genre setting. Some things that are good enough for me:
  • Interesting religious stuff (pagan "cults", etc)
  • Significant (but legal) age gaps
  • Iffy power dynamics, like boss/employee, professor/student
  • Organized crime
  • Sugar baby/daddy dynamics
I feel it important to mention that while I am interested in the taboo, I draw a line at incest and rape. I like to explore the grey areas, not the straight-up not okay.

FANDOMS
I know some of you have been just scrolling to get to this part. Congrats, you made it. I'm a sucker for canon/canon pairings, but I like oc/oc as well. Canon/oc can be fine, but I won't do it if I'm getting self-insert type of vibes. Which is most of the time. I will list canon pairings I like for some, and for others I'll simply list characters I'm interested in playing or playing against. Feel free to suggest whatever else.

Game of Thrones (I only know the show!)
  • Dany/Sansa
  • Dany in general
  • Sansa in general
  • Jaime
  • Jon
Dragon Age
  • Fenris/m!Hawke
  • Fenris/Anders
  • Alistair/Warden
  • Dorian/Cullen
  • Dorian/m!Inquisitor
  • Cullen/Inquisitor
  • any of the above characters in various other pairings
Skyrim
  • Brynjolf
  • Ulfric
Avatar: The Last Airbender (aged up) (I am not familiar with Korra)
  • Zuko/Katara
  • Zuko in general
  • Mai/Ty Lee
  • Ty Lee/Azula
Other universes that interest me, but perhaps just for OCs:
  • The Hunger Games
  • Uglies (omg, if I ever meet someone in the rp world who's read these, I'll cry)

And that's about it for now! I feel like this is extremely long and I'm so sorry for that. Let me know if you have any questions! Can't wait to hear from you!!

Alright, so you're kind of everything I've been looking for? I'm having a hard time narrowing down what I'd like to write with you, but a few stand out to me.
  • Ancient Greece
  • Ancient Rome
  • Ancient Egypt
  • Medieval Europe
  • Renaissance Europe
As well as Dystopian/Utopian plots.

I'm not sure what you'd like from me, but if you want an idea of what I'm like as an rp partner, I have a blurb up in my profile info. I really hope we can write together.
