Pick a card, any card...

πŸ—‘οΈπŸ†βššπŸͺ™

Hello and welcome!

This is a combination repository of my characters and a bit of a writing/brainstorming challenge for myself. I'm assigning (or creating) my characters to different cards of the tarot, because I enjoy whimsy and creative challenges that can be quantified with numbers and finite lists 😁

DO NOT POST IN THIS THREAD!
Seriously, you will mess up my obviously very carefully planned organization and I will be miffed at you.

I currently AM accepting new partners! ❀️
If you are interested in writing with any of the below characters, please PM me with a pitch and a writing sample (if you don't have a posting history on the site).

So can I roleplay with any of these characters?
Yes! Assuming they're marked Available. Any character already being used, or that I'm just not in the headspace to write, will be marked Unavailable.

Ummm Avesta you forgot your faceclaims...
No I didn't 😝 I'm purposely leaving faceclaims out of these profiles because I'm a writer, not an artist (I'm super good at coloring though you guys, you should see my coloring books). It's rare for me to find pre-existing pictures that fit the character images I have in my mind, and I avoid using AI as much as possible so please don't ask me to use that to generate a faceclaim. If you can't envision a character from my descriptions it's because I want you to imagine the character on your own and be tricked into feeling a sense of attachment to them that's on me, let me know and I'll revise.

I love [Character Name] and definitely want to do a story with them! But can you change this one thing about them?
Maybe! Backstory details, goals, abilities, etc. can be tweaked slightly to better fit in with worldbuilding (especially if you'd like to use a character built for a certain canon in a new setting). However things like a character's gender, sexuality, personality, and appearance are conscious decisions that I made for a reason, and if they don't work for you you're probably better off looking at a different character (or partner).

I'd love to write a story with more than one of your characters, are you open to that?
Absolutely, as long as you're willing to write the same number of characters as me (at least). I'm happy to build out a cast with you, but I'm not going to write a harem/polycule around your character (unless you have like, a REALLY good plot in mind).

Are you creating characters in the numeric order of the Major Arcana?
No. Mind your business. Characters appear when and as they appear.

What about the Minor Arcana?
MIND YOUR BUSINESS

What's your availability/post schedule/limits/etc?
Take a look at my Request Thread and message me if you have additional questions!

00 - The Fool
The Seeker. Journeys. Humor. Possibilities. Instability.

RWS-Tarot-00-Fool.jpg

Name: Theodosia "Theo" Bellgarden
Genres: High Fantasy, D&D, Fandom (Forgotten Realms)
Available: Available

"You shoot ONE lightning bolt in someone's face and suddenly you're the bad guy!"

Age: 29
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Sexuality: Yes Pansexual
Occupation: Barmaid, Adventurer

Description: Theo cuts a big figure to match her big personality. At six feet tall and more than two hundred pounds, she's definitely not your willowy fairy-tale heroine. She was blessed with an abundance of curves, and since her usual costume consists of wearing a corset as a shirt (with nothing underneath) they're sculpted into all the right spots. Her skin is rosy and heavily freckled due to a lot of time spent outside on the road, but strange scaled patterns have been known to appear on her face, chest, and limbs under...certain circumstances. Theo keeps her unruly blonde curls cut rather short, making them float like a cloud around her head, though she occasionally ties them out of her face with a colorful scarf. Her round face is pretty but not particularly beautiful, and she has strange, bright green eyes that almost glow, and have odd cross-shaped pupils in them. Although she likes jewelry, it usually ends up getting sold off for traveling expenses, and she instead shows off her style in colorful, if impractical clothing. As mentioned, she prefers corsets as shirts, and unless a bar requires its female servers wear skirts, she usually wears loose trousers sewn from colorful, mismatched fabric scraps (and her cloak is of a similar style). Despite being a part-time adventurer, it appears Miss Bellgarden does not own any armor or weapons, and usually only carries the necessities for traveling on her person.

Personality: Theo is the epitome of the cheery, buxom barmaid ready to make friends with any stranger that crosses her path. She's not the most book-smart person (having dropped out of school at a young age to work full time) but she's been on the road long enough to learn a trick or two, and isn't above flirting (and lying) to get her way. She falls in and out of love easily, and doesn't usually let setbacks or disappointments get her down too long. But she can be naive, especially when it comes to pretty faces. And even though her fuse is long, she has a nasty temper, and things can get a bit...explosive when she gets mad.

Backstory: Theo left home as a teenager after an unfortunate incident that coincided with the sudden manifestation of some very destructive magical abilities. She was briefly enrolled at Blackstaff Academy in the hopes of learning to better control her powers, but not being of a particularly academic mindset, she flunked out was asked to leave after only a year, with the suggestion that she begin a course of independent study. Theo "apprenticed" herself to a dwarven artificer more concerned with studying her powers than helping her develop them. She also began her career as an adventurer, obtaining items of interest for her employer and his colleagues. In between adventures, Theo also took a series of jobs at various taverns along the Sword Coast, having worked as a barmaid since a young age. However, she always tends to leave such jobs when paladins or bounty hunters are seen in the area, especially when they begin asking questions about notorious murderer Evren Cesaria...

Likes: Music, food, booze, getting laid making friends, cute animals, traveling
Dislikes: Uptight people, paladins, being broke, being hungry, prisons
Strengths: Pouring drinks, flirting, dancing, destructive magic (particuarly lightning, fire, ice, acid, and poison), eating, holding her alcohol
Weaknesses: Attractive people, bunnies, food
Goals: Make some money adventuring, find a nice town to settle down in, buy a tavern, marry someone attractive and have a ton of kids
Fears: Paladins, The Cult of the Dragon, demons
Previous Appearances: Dungeons & Dragons - Candlekeep Mysteries
Available for System RPG?: Yes! Theo is a human draconic sorcerer built for DND 5e. She's currently level 6 but can be adjusted as necessary

Theme Song: Thunderstruck - AC/DC
Fun Fact: The only spell Theo learned at Blackstaff was Find Familiar. She can only summon almirajes (almiraji? whatever the plural of almiraj is), and only one at a time. She calls every single one Lucky and has not figured out a practical use for any of them besides cuddles.

Name: Elzibet
Genres: High Fantasy, D&D, Fandom (Forgotten Realms)
Available: Available

"Can I interest you in a song? A story? Or perhaps...your future?"

Age: ~200, give or take
Gender: Female
Species: Half-elf
Sexuality: Heterosexual and mad about it
Occupation: Bard

Description: Elzibet has the ethereal beauty of all half-elves, but there's something...off, about her looks. While most of her hair is long, dark, and wavy, there are two wide golden sections that frame either side of her face (she usually braids these back in an effect that makes her plaits look tiger-striped). Her eyes are soft gray and have a hint of elvish light in them, and her skin is olive-toned, almost brown, and just a few lines are beginning to crease around her eyes, mouth, and forehead. She's of an average height and build for most adult half-elves, but her clothing is definitely more human in design. She usually wears loose peasant blouses with a comfortably-fitting bodice, and many colorful layers of long skirts. Her presence is often announced by the jingling bangles on her wrists and ankles, and her pointed ears have multiple piercings in them, with a variety of rings and studs. She always carries a tooled leather violin case with her, and her preferred instrument is an antique rosewood fiddle.

Personality: Elzibet likes to think of herself as a beautiful, mysterious puller-of-strings, constantly trying to manipulate others to her own ends. She is...sometimes accurate in this assessment. While she does her best to maintain a bardic mask of charm and flirtation, underneath she can be a bit neurotic, stubborn, and short-tempered. She also tends to downplay her own affections and attachments for people and things, assuming an air of nonchalance and vehemently denying that she cares for anything but herself (unless the opposite message can work to her advantage). Secretly she does have a soft heart and feels things deeply, although she would only admit this under torture.

Backstory: Before Elzibet was born, her father, the heir of a noble High Elven house, had a passionate one-night affair with a mysterious human fortune teller. Not quite a year later, on the morning of his arranged marriage to another High Elf noble, a baby girl was left at the gates of his family's manor, with a note explaining that she was the product of his prior tryst. The baby was named Elzibet in the letter, and the writer gave no other indication on where the child's mother might be or her true identity. Despite the scandal, the lord insisted on keeping the child, and his new-wife, though shocked at this turn of events, agreed to help raise the daughter as her own. So Elzibet grew up in a fine noble house with parents who were generally loving, but due to her human blood and fast aging, she never truly felt as though she fit in. Once she reached the age of majority, she was allowed to attend a bard's college, where she strived to become the star pupil and an accomplished enchantress through the use of music. After completing her studies, she began a career as an adventurer, working with a variety of parties and often acting as an information broker between them. She continues wandering to this day, going where profit is promised and often asking questions about mysterious travelers from the mists...

Likes:
Music, being the center of attention, being consulted for advice, feeling like the smartest person in the room, her family
Dislikes: People who call her out on her ego, people who look down on half-elves, being imperfect
Strengths: Violin, singing, enchantment magic, knowing a wide variety of people, throwing knives
Weaknesses: Crippling self-doubt, melee combat, avoidant attachment style, arachnophobia
Goals: Be rich and famous, find her mother (or her mother's people)
Fears: Her own mortality, not actually being an amazing and powerful bard, spiders
Previous Appearances: Dungeons & Dragons - Candlekeep Mysteries
Available for System RPG?:
Yes! Elzibet is a half-elf lore bard built for DND 5e. She's currently level 6 but can be adjusted as necessary

Theme Song: The Siren - Nightwish
Fun Fact: Elzibet loves bawdy drinking songs and has been known to sing them and dance on tables when she's had a few too many. She has denied every instance of this when brought up.

II - The High Priestess
The Student. Intuition. Mystery. Observation. Secrecy.

Name: Louisa Drosselmeyer
Genres: High Fantasy, DND, Fandom (Forgotten Realms)
Available: Available

"Undeath is not death, nor is it life. It is something beyond, something more."

Age: 26
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Sexuality: Demisexual, Panromantic
Occupation:
Student of Necromancy

Description: Louisa is a thin, petite woman with an unremarkable face, save for rather large brown eyes that always seem to be staring. She has brown hair that she wears pulled back from her face in a chignon, and while she thinks jewelry (the nonmagical kind at least) is pointless adornment, she does wear spectacles to help her better read small print in books. Similarly, her clothing is practical: high necked blouses beneath sturdy leather waistcoats that double as light armor, and starched skirts with plenty of pockets for ingredients and magical equipment. Although her skin has a naturally tanned complexion, her many years spent studying indoors has left her looking a bit pale and sickly at times. The one vanity she does indulge in is wearing rose oil, mostly to cover the scent of the bodies she often works with.

Personality: A curious and studious young woman, Louisa is more interested in books than people (the living kind, at least). She can be awkward and is usually uncomfortable around others, though she does a bit better when interacting with other mages or academics. Her happiest moments are spent alone in contemplative study, or working in the laboratory with cadavers. She has a soft spot for undead creatures and believes that none of them are essentially evil--only their makers can be. Despite the grim air about her and her awkward manners, Louisa is actually quite optimistic and believes the world can be changed for the better. She also refuses to see people in black-and-white terms, and tries to find nuance and understanding in all things around her.

Backstory: Louisa was born in a backcountry druid circle under a different name, and for the first sixteen years of her life didn't experience anything particularly out of the usual. As a teenager, an adventuring wizard by the name of Fyederika Drosselmeyer had ventured into her circle's territory trying to learn more of their secrets, and while the circle did not share them, they did allow the wizard to remain among them for a time. This was Louisa's first interaction with someone outside the circle, and she was enraptured with Fyederika's wizard abilities and vast collection of books. When the wizard was set to return to her home in Waterdeep, Louisa rebelliously left her circle to join as Fyederika's protΓ©gΓ©, leaving behind her old name and taking the new one, Louisa Drosselmeyer, after her teacher. She spent the next ten years studying the basics of magic before moving into necromancy, Fyederika's specialty. Louisa believes undead beings can be used to serve the greater good, and are not by nature evil or frightening. She spends a great deal of time trying to convince others of this, and so far has not been particularly successful.

Likes: Books, flowers, zombies, skeletons, tea
Dislikes:
Loud places, crowds, social situations, closed-minded people
Strengths: Creating and managing undead, studying, cooking, sewing
Weaknesses: Making conversation, low tolerance for alcohol
Goals: Make undead creatures more acceptable in socity
Fears:
The ocean, giving speeches
Previous Appearances: Dungeons & Dragons - Candlekeep Mysteries
Available for System RPG?:
Yes! Louisa is a human necromancy wizard built for DND 5e. She's currently level 6 but can be adjusted as necessary

Theme Song:
Louisa - Lord Huron
Fun Fact: Louisa has an encyclopedic knowledge of mushrooms for both edible and medicinal purposes. If she doesn't like you she won't tell you which is which.
