It's harder than one would think to leave home. Some would say it's a simple thing; you just take a step away. One foot in front of another and you're gone. Everyone loves adventure. But what does that feeling become when you're forced? When your previous life is taken from you? Men, for thousands of years, clung onto the short lives they had on their tiny blue marble in edge of no where. But what did that amount to when over population began to starve millions? When the Earth around them buckled and churned under the duress of decades of abuse? The world was ending. Nations still squabbled over what was left of natural resources, the net was filled filled to the brim with conspiracy theories as to why the world was seemingly ending around them, and most of the populace found themselves drowning in escapism.
In the end, it was the companies that got together to save humanity; hundreds of the world's leading minds. Most nations, or at least those who weren't locked into brutal war, chipped in to build an escape. Noah had called it an ark, and that name certainly had been proposed. But a middle ground had been found on the name: The Genesis. A new beginning for humanity, and a chance to save the memories of millions. It was the rich who were able to afford their tickets first - Billionaires, Millionaires, the 1%. Next were the politicians from the countries who contributed along with their immediate family. And so it went down the social economic system of a majority of the world. The rich and famous first, with those who could afford it following.
Chaos.
While the ship was kept quiet for some time, those who were broken from their virutal reality self-inflicted comas began to online protest groups. Said groups quickly found themselves cooperating to find the location of Noah's newage ark. Thanks to the combined effort of established one part internet troll another part internet hackers, the construction site was eventually found. In little more than a year, would-be tactical groups formed to assault the Genesis. No one wanted to be left behind. Would you?
What was once to be the savior of humanity became the crux of its downfall. Even more war erupted around the globe; no one was free. And as the call went out to those who held tickets on this ship, security teams were put in place to keep the unwanted out of the Genesis.
It was so hard. So hard to leave home. But as our ship raced across the blue sky toward an infinite void of black, I couldn't bring myself to look back at it all. Even as the nukes began to fall.

Alright, that's a little intro to the idea I had. Humanity has destroyed the Earth on the twilight of Earth's greatest civilizations. Certain people were allowed to buy their way onto the ship, some snuck on, and others just happened to be lucky enough to be selected. Regardless, the rest of humanity was left to fight over the scraps back on Earth. One ship left to carry on the hopes and dreams of humanity.
I'm looking for a character that will endure the deep-space travel toward a new home. We're going to deal with a long trip toward a distant planet and all that such entails: political drama, deep-space madness, possible alien interception, critical system failures. The whole thing! I would prefer a female partner in this, but it is very much open. I'm willing to let you make up whoever in this story- The captain of the ship, the former President of the United States, or some punk kid who managed to sneak his way aboard before launch. This will be a tale of tragedy in the search of salvation.
I have more information regarding the various companies that run this giant colony ship, but I can go into more detail in a PM. If you have interest, go ahead an PM me!
See you, interlopers. The stars are our limit.
