•Status:

•Type:

•Plot:
-Based loosely on the television show, Spartacus, this role play will be set in 71BC Italy, primary around Rome. It is a reflection of slavery, Gladiators and the blood sport that drew crowds of thousands, the arena. Though it will hold some truth, it will not be historically accurate. Famed names can and will be changed, events will not follow as they did in recorded history. So in essence, this will be fictional, though incidents and situations that arise should be true to the time period. The story will be based around the arena and four main Houses/Ludus. Each will be run by a Lanista(Dominus/Domina) and all will play a significant role in the story. There will also be political influence and introduction throughout, as well as a war taking place not far from home. You have a few choices for your characters: Lowly slaves, famed gladiators, or the the main players of the game, the Romans. You will play out your characters story in these times, characters will die, be bought and sold, and face many hardships. Please try to stay true to the role you choose. There will eventually be an uprising by the slaves, but this will be tabled for now, once we are established and have put time into the story as is, we can look into the drastic change.
•Setting:
-Rome, Italy
-71 BC
Characters
•Character options:
-Slaves: Work for the heads of the house, usually as hand maidens or servants, mild mannered and broken completely. They may have rebellious tendencies but for the most part are loyal to their masters. They are usually born into slavery or broken young.
-Gladiators: The brutes, slaves that have been had selected for their strength and skill. Forced to fight for glory in the arena. They normally hold no loyalty to their masters but obey, begrudgingly. Their numbers typically consist of captured soldiers or men/women who willingly choose temporary slavery to pay off debts or make money.
-Romans: Masters in all sense of the word. They rule over the houses and make up the army and the senate.
•Character limit:
-2 per person
•Character requirements:
-Reference sheet-basic
•Character Rules:
-No inhuman abilities (super powers/magic)
-No power playing or god modding
-No killing another players main character without his/her consent
-No controlling anyone else's characters
-Any deaths must first be discussed OOC
•NPC's:
-We encourage you to participate and play an array of NPC characters to help the story along. Please do not abuse this.
Rules & Requirements
•Rules:
-Follow all WS rules, there are absolutely no exceptions to this. (No underage chatacters, child involvement, beastiality)
-OOC stays to its designated area and does not get dragged into anything IC or brought up in any chatroom.
-Keep OOC clean and friendly, I do not want arguing or bullying of any kind. We're all adults here, try and act it.
-Keep the dramatics to a minimum, we don't need main characters dying everyday or being injured so often that they serve no purpose.
-Be realistic when interacting, slaves would know repercussions of insubordination and defiance, don't be constantly mouthing off and disobeying, keep some order.
- We are not being strictly historically accurate with events of the time but incidents and situations that arise should be true to the time period.
•Requirements:
-Try posting at least weekly
-No less than two paragraphs, more is better, but not required.
-Be active in OOC banter, participate, don't just be pretty furniture in the room.
-Be as literate as possible, check and double check if you must. Not to sound over bearing but all it takes is one small typo on misuse of a word to confuse the rest of us.
-Posting order is not strict but please use common sense regarding it
•You've been warned:
-Violence/Sexual violence
-Blood/Gore
-Vulgar language
-Use of Alcohol
-Fighting/Death
-Torture/Punished
*If you can not/will not participate in or read about any of said item, please reconsider your choice of role play*
Fighting
•War:
-Though those in the main city won't see much of actual battle, this can be trivial to a characters background.
•Arena:
-Gladiators will be selected bi-weekly and for special occasions and events to fight here. They may pick a weapon of their choice and battle in pairs or one on one for the glory of there Ludus.
•The Pits:
-A place of death and dishonor, only one rule: Only one person leaves the ring alive. Fighters square off one on one and draw tokens at the start to determine if they get a weapon and what that weapon is.
•Private:
-Lanista's often host elegant parties and gatherings, occasionally Gladiators are shown of by competing in harmless fights for entertainment. No serious injuries, no deaths.
