Hello there. You can call me VIPERFISH! I typically keep a regular request thread, but I really love this new OC I made, and he's a special boy, so here I am giving him his OWN SEARCH, as is tradition, lmfao.

Just to get a little bit about me out of the way before we start~
  • 30's
  • I am nonbinary; my pronouns are he/him.
  • I live in the Central time zone and work from home-- I have a lot of free time.
  • I love to write (duh), and when hooked on an RP, I can write a lot. You have no idea. I passed the 150k word mark with a specific long-term partner in less than a month after starting an RP with her. While I'm not asking you to match that volume, I definitely want someone who will get as Enthusiastic about things as me and will reply regularly if we really hit it off. The beginning of an RP is the most critical part for me-- if the plot is good I can get super into it and reply multiple times a day, so if you can match my energy, that would be ideal.
  • I do not and will not use photo face claims. I will not play as real people or celebrities— asking me to guarantees I'm blocking you immediately. I exclusively use illustrated references of my original characters. For many of them I have commissioned references. For others, I have AI art, since I do love to play around with that technology. Failing that, there's always descriptions!
  • Re: writing. My average post is like 300-1000 words.
  • Kind of related to the above, I like to be friends OOC. I will definitely make a Discord server for OOC chat if you are amenable to that, and it will have a billion channels for inspo pics, character pics, plotting, etc
  • For all intents and purposes for this search, I don't really have limits that would be relevant to what might reasonably covered in the plot.
  • I could only list a singular gender pairing up above so here I am saying I am open to any gender pairing for this character.
So. Anyway. I am looking for a roleplay in which I play my darling boy Quinn, for whom I have a lil profile.

D.O.B. & Age ♡♡ Permanently 23
Gender ♡♡ AFAB || Transgender male
Species ♡♡ Vampire
Sexuality ♡♡ Pansexual

Quinn realized he was transgender from an early age, but lived in fear of his parents refusal to accept him. When he was 18, he took the risk and came out to them, and was immediately kicked out of the house. He worked through school to support himself and pay for classes, and got a community college degree in fashion design. When he was looking for jobs at various fashion houses, a designer noticed his unique appearance and asked him if he was interested in modeling. He said yes, and had been in several high-profile campaigns. His career was on track to take off...

But everything changed some months ago when he attended a party upon arrival in his current city. There were vampires in attendance, and drugs and alcohol flowed like water. He knows he was bitten there for the euphoric high, but a bite alone isn't enough to transfer the disease. He doesn't remember much of what happened beyond that.

After that night, he started to feel strange, and noticed that his vision was changing, impacting the usefulness of his glasses. His nystagmus, a condition he had struggled with from birth as a side effect of his albinism, stopped and cleared up completely. He had thought a miracle had happened to him.

He was wrong.

It was only a few days later, when he had a daytime shoot and immediately began to get sunsick, that both he and his firm discovered his condition. He was terminated immediately. He's barely been scraping by since.

So, this boy. I love this boy, and let me tell you, the world he lives in has SO MUCH LORE.

Quinn exists in a world much like our own with one major difference: in this world, vampires and werewolves exist and their existence is known about by the general populace. However, rather than being supernatural conditions, vampirism and lycanthropy are infectious diseases (I can no longer forget about my work when I clock out. This is who I am now), and the way that they are treated could not be more different. I have written a huge lore dump out about this, and it is required reading to get the Vibe~

Vampirism and Lycanthropy: A Primer
Vampirism and Lycanthropy are terms used for two separate, but but superficially similar, diseases.

Vampirism is a pathogen primarily spread by blood-to-blood contact which, once contracted, has no cure. While it does bestow some benefits on the host, such as granting regenerative cells (no more aging), immunity to disease, and some various superhuman ability (night vision, enhanced strength and speed), it carries just as many drawbacks. It comes with extreme photosensitivity that manifests first as a blistering rash and then can kill in as little as a half-hour, and is dangerous even through a tinted window. Furthermore, through a mechanism yet poorly understood by science, those inflicted with vampirism all develop a specific deficiency that can only be remedied by regular ingestion of human blood. When denied this compound for an extended period of time, afflicted vampires rapidly accumulate brain and organ damage that manifests with symptoms most comparable to rabies. While this condition can be reversed by regular ingestion of blood, this damage takes an extended period of time to recover from, and most vampires do not have the support system in place to make that recovery in a safe space where they will not first fall prey to a hunter.

The biggest hurdle that vampires face, however, is the social stigma and tenuous legal status. Thanks to the work of various lobbying and religious groups, vampires are not legally considered human beings, and so they lack basic protections from discrimination in every sector of society. The unemployment rate in the vampiric community is many times higher than the national average, and it is often the case that vampires can only find housing in areas where they are frequently exploited by parasitic landlords. Many vampires resort to sex work in order to get by, which puts them in further danger of being victimized. It is theorized that as many as 95% of vampires are victims of violent crime at one point or another. In all fifty states biting an unwilling human is a felony with a three-year mandatory prison sentence, although, because prisons do not dispense blood to vampiric inmates, almost every vampire who is arrested does not survive to trial.

In recent years, vampire venom has become an incredibly popular street drug due to its incredible analgesic qualities. While there are some people who will allow themselves to be bitten to experience the euphoric effects of venom, it is increasingly common to see tiny vials of the toxin being sold by human or werewolf dealers who are unanimously tight-lipped on where they get their supply. There are even (unconfirmed) rumors that some particularly wealthy and influential individuals even keep vampires as pets in order to have a direct, unending supply of this most potent drug.

Standing in stark contrast to the prevailing view of vampirism is the way that lycanthropy is treated.

Lycanthropy is caused by a bacterium passed from host to host by bite contact. Upon infection, the bacterium rapidly colonizes its host's body and immune system, supplanting it with its own. This grants extreme regenerative abilities, as well as enhanced strength, sharpened senses, and the ability to transform at will into a dangerous super-predator. Only two things are known to kill werewolves: a lot of silver bullets (which drastically impacts their regenerative abilities) or the bite of another werewolf with a different strain of the bacterium.

Thanks to an incredibly successful lobbying and public relations campaign that started in the 80s backed by many highly influential business magnates and politicians, werewolves maintain a protected legal status in society. Workplaces are mandated to give the day before and after every full moon off to employees diagnosed with lycanthropy, and newly-turned werewolves find a wealth of support systems available to them. Werewolf maulings are notoriously under-reported and difficult to prosecute, and there have been several high-profile court cases over the last few years in which murders committed by werewolves on the night of the full moon have been given incredibly light sentences. Many people in influential spheres of the government and media are werewolves, and it is not uncommon for those who are outspokenly pro-werewolf to eventually announce that they, too, have recently contracted the condition.

HOPEFULLY that was engaging to you! Now, where does that leave us with what I want to do with him?

Well, uh, honestly, I sort of want to discuss it. But here are some little plot ideas, I guess.
  • He catches the eye of a handsome werewolf who treats him right? 👀
  • I have a nebulous idea where he ends up getting trafficked to be kept as a pet by someone for his venom, and this can end either happily or terribly. Could his owner be someone otherwise kind but needs a steady dose of vampire venom to combat their chronic pain? Is it someone with far more nefarious ideas? Let's figure it out!
  • Meet-cute with a human who can love him despite his vampirism?
  • Finding another, more experienced vampire who can help his poor desperate fledgling ass?
  • Literally anything, I will add more ideas, I am fried from writing this all out lmfao.
Thank u for reading and have a nice day!
