First off, I haven't regularly written on this forum in a coon's age. I am also both old and southern US enough to use the phrase 'Coon's age'. If those are dealbreakers, thanks for taking a look. No hard feelings.

I've been craving a regular writing outlet for a while now, but have been too lazy to commit to anything. As part of my ongoing attempts to make myself a better human, today I decided to kick off the rust and try my hand at writing once more, by leaning into a comfortable bit of tropiness, which I'll get to in a bit.

As a writer, what interests me is character dynamics, more than anything else. Smut is nice and all, but I prefer it as a seasoning and spice, with character interaction being the main dish. That's why I don't tend to bother with kink-lists and the such. I'm not writing to explore kinks, but characters, and how those character's personality traits express themselves will help inform their sexual desires.

I'm a man pushing 50 with a wife, an infirm mother who lives in an apartment attached to my house, 3 dogs, and 3 gaming groups. I won't commit to daily replies. I will commit to not ghosting you, and if you want to try your hand at writing with me, I will do my very best to keep you in the loop. If our writing chemistry doesn't work out, no worries. It can be tricky to harmonize the energy of a pair of writers. Add in the weird nature of online interactions, and it's a miracle any of us find partners we gel with.

Let's talk about my story idea.

My character will be an older vampire, both in silver foxian appearance, and in terms of centuries having been born somewhere between the 17th and 19th centuries. Having adapted to the times, he finds 'hunting' for food to be far too risky to be sustainable. With the pervasiveness of modern surveillance and the forensic abilities at the state's disposal, stalking the unsuspecting is a good way for a vampire to attract exactly the wrong sort of attention. So instead, he simply pays for it. Not gag inducing bagged blood, but rather cultivating an ongoing relationship with a mortal wherein said mortal donates their blood in exchange for financial benefit. A 'Bloody Sugar Baby' if you will. insert title card here

Now, that's the basic idea. Older vampire x younger mortal entering into a financial arrangement for blood. There's a lot of room for riffing on the basic structure.

Perhaps we'd like an office dynamic. Vampire x Assistant.

Perhaps we'd like to add more dubious consent to the mix.

Vampire x Debtor.

Perhaps an element of cheating.

Vampire x Debtor's wife.

It's the power imbalance at the core of the relationship I want to explore. I want to start very transactional, then as the characters get to know one another, see how that relationship develops and changes.

I do have a personal variety of vampire mythology I like to use. The basic gist is that my vampires are living creatures. A genetic offshoot of humanity that have certain nutritional deficiencies requiring them to supplement their diet with human blood. They have heightened physical abilities and longevity, but none of the supernatural powers attributed to vampires in fiction. Exposure to UV light accelerates the consumption of the resources they get from blood, weakening them and making them hungry. Also, sun exposure increases their risk to develop skin cancer, and when your lifespan is centuries, not decades, skin care becomes all the more crucial. So, that's why they tend to be nocturnal. They can operate in the day and don't burst into flame in the sun, but the sun is not good for them so they avoid it.

So, if you've made it this far, good on you. I can be a wordy bastard. If you're interested in exploring this scenario with me, shoot me a PM with your ideas for collaboration. I've provided a basic framework for what I'm interested in, however, it's only with you and your input that we can come up with a story idea that entertains us both.

May you have a lovely day,

- Bax
