New here so forgive my ignorance of formatting. I hope to learn the formalities as I go by giving back experience I do have as a dungeon master of several years. I'm going to provide up to 8 of you with a adult game of dungeons and dragons roleplay where you just describe who you are and what you do. Don't worry about numbers, you wont see any. I'll take care of the mechanics, which will be less important than the story anyway, and describe the results of your actions as well as the places, people and threats you face. There will be dice rolls on my side of the screen but the gods of chaos ALWAYS favor good roleplaying and I'll do my best to make what you can and cannot do obvious.
You will be a group of competent local heroes (level 6 or so if you are familiar with 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons) in a high magic medieval fantasy setting tasked with procuring a powerful ancient relic which gives one power over life or death and something more sensual, The Forever Stone. To this end, your party must face a dungeon heavily inspired by Gigax's blood bathes of old but this time the sacrifice is to a much darker, demented and sexually creative god!
I intend to refine this process and run many games in this setting so we will discover and build the world as we go. This session will be narrower for simplicity. I'll provide details of the locale but the parameters of the world your characters draw from is pretty much up to you. Even planeswalkers are acceptable. We will after all be pursuing the Forever Stone. You will provide a bio of your character here or linked. Please emphasize on the abilities they possess. As I said you'll all relatively be the same power level, with different areas of expertise of course but the more information you give the easier it will be to dial that in, especially when it comes to magic users.
As local heroes, players should be prepared for threats at the scale that endanger cities or regions, no quite ready to outclass the movers and shakers of the world such as kings or the great beasts but beyond the woods, villages and counties of their green years. Lesser adventurers can deal with the highway bandits and rat infested basements. They have already made a name for themselves and are well on their way to truly being a force. However, to not get lost in the landscape they still must rely on allies, mentors and patrons. If a true threat such as a dragon or even too many city guard show up they may want to keep their head down. You have weight to throw around. Your time is worth more than ten men on your days off and bigger forces are beginning to fight for you attention, offering rewards some wont see in a lifetime. If enough like you got together, well that dragon might just have a run for its money.
Your employers have made you all reservations at the 'Ham-Fisted Barmaid' in the non-descript hamlet of Cropsford where you are to meet your cadre in mid-spring and proceed from there to a small barely mountain due west through thick woods. You are told that at its base is a cave where your objective hides. Your respective employers have decided that the artifact belongs safe in combined custody despite usual differences. Each player seeks the forever stone together but they may also possess hidden agendas which we may discuss via pm or in-thread, your preference. You each already own 500g, which is a small fortune in itself. I'll allow one "rare" magic item and one "common" magic item each. Use your best knowledge of high-magic settings and be prepared for me to place constraints here (aka break your heart).
I'm gonna stop here so I can get this out and we can figure it out as we play but I am hoping a loose turn based system will work but we'll only even need that for combat. I'm open to suggestions and expect refinement as we go. We can start once we have a few players and bring in more as people show, unless you'd really like to wait. I myself, am excited to start =D
