Hey all! My name (at least in this little corner of the internet) is Carmella, but you're welcome to call me Carmel or even just Mel for short. I'm in my late twenties, and have been writing with others online since I was about ten, so I think I have just a little bit of practice at it. My last forum home died out several years ago, though, and since I exchanged offsite contact info with my partners from there and continued to write with them through other means, I never bothered to find a new one. Sadly, though, the last of my writing partners seems to have disappeared on my, so I set out in search of a new site where I can start up some new stories, and my search led me here.
As to my writing, admittedly, I write a lot of fan-fiction, or at least fan-fiction adjacent works. I do also solo write and have no problem with world building and crafting unique plots, but I find that in collaborative writing, using an already existing work as at least a base helps everyone start off with similar expectations. I'm mainly a huge fantasy nerd, so the vast majority of my writing is in that genre. Other favored topics include historical fiction (although not always super accurate- I'm no historian), and occasionally some sci-fi, with a smidge of romance tossed in along the way. I tend to write stories with multiple characters (including multiple main characters), although I admit a definite preference towards female characters. As far as romance, I am most comfortable with mxf (usually with myself in the female role), but I'm definitely flexible on both pairings and gender roles in them. Please note, though, that I don't really write explicit content for pairings other than mxf (I've never done so before, and feel like I would probably be terrible at it), not if explicit content my main purpose or interest in writing. I also usually write multi-paragraph posts.
I work in foodservice management, so I work a lot and have some odd hours. I am generally free to post in character at least once per week, and am on for out of character chatting more frequently. I'm not picky about how frequently my partners post, so long as you let me know if you're going to be gone for a longer time than is usual for you (assuming we have an established normal, like an expectation of a post every other week or something of that nature. I'll assume a standard of about once a week unless otherwise specified.)
Now that I've got all of that background information out of the way, let's get onto writing things. As mentioned earlier, while I am open to original plots from time to time, I usually use fandoms as a base to build off of (whether then writing in a canon world, simply drawing vague inspiration from it, or something in between.) So, instead of listing any concrete plots (at least for now), I'm going to list fandoms that I am frequently inspired by, and if you're interested in any of them, or in similar themes, we can use that as a starting point to work out a plot together.
Books/Movies/TV Shows:
Tolkien-Verse: The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Rings of Power, etc. Admittedly it's been a while since I've read any of the books so I might not be totally up to date, but I've watched all shows/movies in the last year or two.
Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire: Both shows and movies. Somewhat including House of the Dragon, but I'm not up to date on the most recent season. I did read Fire and Blood, though, so I know a lot of the world's background lore.
The Last Kingdom: Netflix show, and I read the first few books, but never finished the series.
Wheel of Time: The Amazon series- I have not read any of the books.
The Empyrean Series: I have read all three books currently out.
Supernatural: Have watched the full series.
Lockwood and Co.: I have watched the full series, as well as read all the books a while ago (childhood favorite.) This one will require significant adaptation to bump the age of investigators up to above 18!
Anime:
Fairy Tail: Have watched the full original anime, as well as all of 100-Year Quest that has been released, and read some of the manga as well.
Noragami: Watched the full series, read some of the manga.
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End: Watched the full series.
Solo Leveling: Watched the full series.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood: I watched it a very long time ago, but don't remember most of the details. I've recently started a rewatched to refresh my memory on it and am working my way through that.
Other:
Dungeons and Dragons: As far as setting/lore, I am familiar with Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, and a fair bit about the Domains of Dread. I'm looking more for stories inspired by the game than anything using a strict system/dice rolls, though.
More details and fandoms may be added here as I think of them or come across new interests, but this is all I can think of for now. If anything caught your interest, feel free to reach out to me by private message, and I'd love to talk about starting up a story with you!
