---Characters With Set Aesthetics/Styles and Genres---

Name:
Alexander Faen

Age:
38

Gender:
Male

Weight:
195lbs
Height:
5'11''

Personality:
A casual observer in almost all regards, Alex is a gifted martial artist, and practicioner of self defense arts. Although his outward appearance often leads to trouble in the best of times, his lifestyle choices identify him as anything but a troublemaker. A monk by trade, by training, and by choice, Alex believes all things require balance. All things need order and chaos alike. He views death as a means to rebirth, and has no qualms with ending a life that tries to take his own: Yet, he would never go out of his way to strike down someone without great need or cause. He does not know anger, rage, wrath, or most other unessential emotions such as fear or love. Yet he values greatly those many people who live by those codes and qualities.

Softspoken, quiet, and calm, he rarely engages in idle conversation, and yet he carries a patient smile at all times. Wearing the mask of happiness to dissuade others from aggression, he tends to attempt mediation with words, before actions. He travels often, far and wide, holds no value in commodities, or wealth. He admires those many philosophers, soldiers, and commoners alike who have birthed works of art, literary concepts, and created new ideas from nothing. Believing that artwork, the expression of one's soul through it, and the connection it fosters with other people, to be the greatest among the binding ties of the universe. Such was the first thought, and the last thought, behind his many varied patterns of armament and armour.

Appearance:
Ninety five percent of of Alex's body is covered in a shifting ink known as Shinai. This 'soul ink' is not only a remarkable artistic form of expression, but it is his main outlet for his connection with the ethereal realms. He stands roughly six feet tall; is prone to slouching and constant twitching as well, and his thick muscles are constantly tensed.

He wears little in the way of clothing; preferring the cold or warmth of any given day to wash over his tattooed skin without hindrance, and his booted feet are about the only place where no tattoos can be seen. He does wear jeans; though they are torn and heavily worn in spots, they offer little protection from anything more than a bee sting.

His face is completely untouched as far as the Shinai goes, and his eyes are a dazzling sea of black waves with a core of ivory. No pupil, iris, or visible retina exists within the orbs of ethereal vision, and in many circumstances, the reflective nature of his eyes lead people to believe he wears some form of contacts. Though this is not true, Alex is not given to correcting peoples assumptions.. no matter how wrong.

His hair is often unkempt; short and straight when maintained, and its light brown color nearly matches the eldest of his fading tattoos. These ancient tattoos; of ink and soul fusion, are like veins that have been pushed to the surface of the skin, and are often covered up or overpowered by the newer and more vibrant artwork lacing his form with intricate patterns and creatures.

The Tattoos
- Location
  • Upper Body
    • Neck- Circling his neck, Alex has two sets of eyes, and two elongated paw prints that fade into the bottom jaws of twisting skulls. These four eyes seem to move and watch the surroundings even as Alex stares blindly ahead, and without so much as a second glance, a normal person can identify them. One set of eyes is that of a great cat; orange and silver with a black vertical slit: Reflective and ominous against the backdrop of tortured faces. The second set of eyes is that of a wicked serpent, and their recessed green color always makes them appear to glow in the dark. The paw prints are those of a wolf; claws ending just under each ear, and the skull that fades into oblivion is a twisted mutilation of a wolf's own form.

    • Shoulders- On each shoulder; falling over the back of the blade and mingling with other tattoos of the back, are two sets of coiled chains. These thick linked steel chains are dipped in blood, and the backdrop around them is a shifting sea of screaming-barely visible faces. They continue from the shoulders, thinning and disappearing "under" the skin in spots, and "rising" in others, until they reach the end of each wrist.

    • Chest- Crossing the sternum in a mirrored; perfectly symmetrical pattern, starting at each underarm, and ending at the top of his naval, is a blazing phoenix. This bird-like creature; looking up at his jaw appears like the chains, and seems to be made of steel dipped in blood. Not rusted, but edged with crimson hues, and the backdrop remains a twisted sea of faces that linger on the edge of visibility. Highlighting and shading the beautiful beast perfectly.

    • Sides- Up his sides; heading from hip to underarm, and connecting with the edge of the chest phoenix's outstretched wings, are matching hand cannons. Not merely replicated, but designed especially for Alex, these two boisterous weapons appear like large desert eagles, but each has a sinister skull etched into the grip. The trigger on each rests at his second rib up, and the handles turn perfectly with his muscular body to end on the lightly outlined V of his hips. These twisted weapons are gold and silver with spiraling tribal patterns of black that lend them an even more insidious appearance, and their backdrop is a much more radical and visible creation: Overlapping chained rounds that sink under and over each other to give a great illusion of depth.

A second set of guns; smaller and more elegant, lay in yin, to the yan of the other screaming cannons. They slip under the belt line; over the earthen wind swept tattoos of his upper legs and pelvis, and look as though they are holstered there. The handle of each smaller weapon lies nestled against the back of each grip for the great hand cannon on that side of the body. Still against the backdrop of bullets, fading into earthen debris and steel construct, these guns are simple, and yet beautiful.
  • Back
    • Shoulder Blades- Where the upper shoulder chains fade into the skin, and appear to rip under the flesh for the final time, two mechanical wings begin. These steel tinted, blood dipped wings appear like oh so many varied lengths of metal with joints and connections of golden metal. They appear small; matching the frontal phoenix perfectly in size though, and they connect at the base of his neck in a symmetrical coupling of different tattooed parts. These wings lay atop a seemingly burning atmosphere of skin; hazy textures and shadowing lending each straight edge a more devastating point, and just above the mid-back, over top of the spine, a thick steel cog keeps the entire tattoo tied together with the spinal design underneath.

    • Spine- From the very base of the skull; running down the length of his spine, Alex has a twisting set of thorny roots and vines. These varied strands of nature are dark brown and red in most locations, but at the end of each thorn a vibrant green pops from the skin and brings the eye in farther. So many details go unseen; the root construct falling under the wings, the cog, and under the back of his pants, but if enough time is spent appreciating the art, you would notice small skulls and blood splatter between and around the seemingly alive and textured protrusions of earth. They split into countless smaller veins as they leave his spine, and once under the ridge of his pant-line, they begin dipping in and out of the skin all the way to the soles of his feet.

    • Lower Back- From the back of his hips, up to the wings adorning his upper back; visible over the spreading roots, and in the hazy reddened atmosphere that makes up the backdrop for his other tattoos, a myriad of weaponry is painted in perfect detail. Two katanas lay parallel with the ground below him; stretching from the center of his spine as if embedded in the flesh, out to the edge of his back. Four daggers lay in a splayed out manner; "digging" into the skin where the katanas meet at the spine, and with enough of a gap between each to still discern the growing roots underneath. Lastly, a thin shield; seemingly squished and skewed to suit the remaining space, stretches from the base of his tailbone, up to just above where the weaponry digs into the skin and disappears.
  • Arms and Legs
    • Upper Arms- Mingling with the embedded chains that wander through the sea of tortured faces leading down his arms, Alex has matching marble veins and stone protrusions. As if "bursting" from the flesh, these small spots of stone and earth begin to grow more common as they head away from the shoulders, and grow closer to the wrists. Small and jagged edges appear like they are tearing through the flesh, while other 'pillars' of ivory hued marble simply looks like its melting out of the backdrop of near unseen faces.

Amid the confusion of chains, faces, and earth, in bright and toxic looking green hues, small circles mark out different lengths down each arm. Beginning as the size of a golf ball, and ending no larger than a dime, these neon green designs are perfectly centered and placed down the back of each arm - Ending with green dots on each knuckle of his hands.

    • Upper Thighs- Starting below each gun; wrapped under his belt-line and over his tailbone, as well as connecting just under his naval, is a varied set of earthen protrusions and metallic, ''flesh tearing'' forms. Giving his legs the appearance of a rising mountain with vines and roots that wrap all the way down to his feet, these distinct marble and steel-like creations are all housed in a vicious looking grey mist. Like an ocean breeze frozen over and lent a hazardous force, the lower tattoos are slightly obscured, and given a more vague feel through the "mist" that permeates the different layers of earth and metal.

    • Feet- On the inside and outside of each foot; usually unseen unless Alex decides to go barefoot, are matching tattoos of small scorpions whos stingers wrap up and over the top of each foot and meet in the middle. The background is still the earthen and windswept combination, but each stinger is seemingly dipped in a vivid green venom that appears like blood running from a cut down the top of each foot.

    • Hands- On each of Alex's hands; like oh so many miniature versions of his own hands, other variations of his own grappling fists appear in perfect detail. From clutched fists, to open hands, to every combination in between, these hands all overlap and worm their way along and around each other, as they completely obscure every other ink stain beyond his wrists.
  • The Ancient Shinai
    • These tattoos, like the memory of drawn blood, run in seemingly haphazard paths all over Alex's body. Their true pattern though, is of greatly cherished secret. They run to and from each point of spiritual flow in his skin; connecting the ethereal to the physical in beaded scars of near unseen brown, and beneath the more profound designs, they are completely unseen. The only constantly visible ancient Shinai line leads from the base of his skull, around his neck, to his collar, and down into the center of the steel phoenix. Its nothing more than a disconcerting and faded line, but still it remains constantly visible there, between the points of constant ethereal release.
Abilities:
  • Passive
    • Shinai Inkwell- This innate ability is nothing more than a constant release of possessed spiritual power, and does little more than make each tattoo on Alex's body appear alive or in motion. As if the chains rattled, or the phoenix moved, this power makes it appear like every facet of his stained skin could come alive at an instant

    • Shinai Vision- This ability is of particular interest to Alex, and it allows him to see beyond mortal coils, and into the depths of the astral plane. It allows him to trace spirits and souls; whether passed on or attached to a corporeal form, and if enough focus is made on looking beyond death, Alex can use this vision to view the true forms of those in the physical world. Instead of just faded spiritual outlines...

    • Shinai Preservation- This power seems to be controlled by Alex, but is far from it. When in danger, or in the presence of a spirit truly evil, his inked skin will act of its own accord, and the tattooed artwork will do as it would under his power. Coming to life, adjusting, and even attacking when truly threatened. It cant defend against everything when Alex is unaware, but the majority of dangers can be drastically reduced even without his attention being paid to them.

    • The Shinai art: Healing Flow- This passive function of the Shinai/ Soul ink, allows any wounds dug into Alex's skin to be healed through an exertion of spiritual power. So long as a tattoo is present where the damage is done, that tattoo itself will begin to re-stitch the wound, and overlap the wound with painted skin that becomes as Alex's own over a short time. This happens automatically upon an injury, but with all healing arts, the time it takes is dependent on how large the wound is, or how drained Alex is prior to the healing flow.
  • Active
    • Ink Singing- When focused on an adversary or on defending himself, Alex has the ability to control the flow of spiritual energy through his tattoos and alter them from simple designs into truly vicious physical creations. From the phoenix to the chains, each tattoo can be either pulled from the skin completely (Rendering the tattooed skin empty, but granting the weapon greater power) or he can simply detach a physical version that mimics the appearance of the tattoo itself. This can be used for defense as well as offense, and Alex has mastered every one of his inlaid artworks over the many years with them.

    • Caustic Collective- Using more spiritual power than would be necessary to alter his tattoos alone, Alex can manipulate the near glowing dots of vibrant green, and expel the screaming backdrop from his flesh. This sinister collection of oppressed souls will act like a blinding haze, and the tortured soul faces will slowly begin to attack and consume whatever Alex claims worthy of their assault. This drains Alex rapidly though, and can not be used more than once per day.. Unlike the other tattoos, when these screaming faces are released, they will slowly reform on the skin and return to their tattooed positions once the release is over

    • The Shinai art: Merging- This; like ink singing, is an ability Alex uses to manipulate the weaponry and elements tattooed into his skin. But unlike ink singing, this is not used to pull a weapon free from the skin, but instead merge several tattoos into a greater form of its prior self. The majority of its use comes when Alex decides to overlap his entire body with the stretching essence of the steel phoenix: Front and back, but he has been known to completely fuse the earthen pillars to turn his skin into a solid marble weapon.

    • The Shinai art: Broken Path- When Alex is wounded, and one of his tattoos is interrupted with his flowing blood, he can use that crimson elixir to further conduct his own spiritual power. Thus, he can interact with the veiled tattoo at a much deeper level, and alter its design slightly. From changing one link in his chain, or breaking the chain, he can make slight changes with any tattoo thats masked, but whatever change he makes can not be undone afterwards, and when the Shinai is once again settled, the alteration becomes permanent.

    • The Shinai art: Last Drop- This final Shinai art is the most dangerous as well as the most taxing on Alex. When all seems lost, and Alex is on the verge of death, he can draw the bloody ink from his skin, and use the very potent Shinai liquid as a weapon. He can collect it in strands/threads, or in balls, and with great physical effort, he can unleash them upon enemies. This requires the absolute loss of all but the ancient Shinai lines, and if he does not recollect them, they will be lost forever...If he uses this technique, he will have no more than a few minutes of consciousness left before his body falls into a completely comatose state to recharge... These threads or attacks of pure Shinai ink, will pull the vast power of Alex's spiritual energy with them in every assault, and until the last drop is dissipated or the last ounce of energy is gone, they will attack with or without his command...
    The Full Shinai Spectrum
    • Romulus: Steel Phoenix- The great steel phoenix on Alex's chest, is a defense, as well as a scout. When pulled from the flesh, or mimicked, it can be used to alter Alex's own perception, and grant him an aerial view through Shinai Vision. This is of great interest to Alex when in need of an escape route, or when in desperate need of a hiding place. The phoenix's size can be altered before its release, but often times he prefers to keep it at the size of his actual tattooed chest and back. Anything more and the connection wears on him far too much to help.

When Merging, this phoenix connects with the bladed wings on Alex's back, and stretches over his entire upper body with blood tipped metal feathers. It engorges and swells to overlap every other tattoo, and in the merged state, it stops any unexposed Shinai from being used. This is primarily a defensive strategy, but can be used as offensive should his opponent have a weakness to metal, or a more practical inability to puncture it easily.

The bladed back wings can be used separately, and unlike the phoenix front, they are often pulled directly from the flesh instead of mimicked. Through the greater use of energy, Alex can then enlarge them, and use them for temporary flight, or prolonged gliding. When dropping from extreme heights, this is step one in protecting himself from damage, and even without his command, in those instances, the Shinai will act of their own semi-sentient will, and perform this action.

    • Chains of Servitude- The thick chains that run from shoulder to wrist; in and under the skin, overlapping and underlying other tattoos, are the most offensive of all Alex's Shinai. The thick chains can extend out of his wrist; gripped by either his hand, or by any number of the hands that are tattooed on his hands. They can retreat into the skin with ease, or extend outward with blinding speed. Propelled faster depending on how much spiritual energy Alex pushes into them.

These chains in appearance, look as though they are moving through the tattooed flesh that would contain their image, but the only location they breach the surface is at the wrists.
      • Grip of Servitude: The secondary ability of the chains is one that combines both the chain Shinai, and the painted hands. When the chain erupts from the flesh, the hands leave with it, and reach out from the end of the chain to grip whatever they can. When that object is unprotected by a physical body ( soul or spirit ) The hands grip so tightly that Alex is able to then pull the spirit back in and add it to his collection of tortured screaming faces. Otherwise they can lock onto clothing, or onto flesh, and increase the likeliness of the chains doing serious damage.
    • The Idle Hands- The multiple hands tattooed over Alex's own hands and palm, are both weapons as well as a uniquely adapted form of his Shinai art style. They can breach the skin; either peeling away or mimicked externally, and when they are free from the flesh, they act like multiple other hands. Able to grab, hold, punch, or otherwise touch. This is the simple form of their release, and offers variants to both grip style and strength, as well as a plethora of options for holding multiple items at once.
      • Idle Hands: Advanced- When Alex pushes enough of his spiritual power into the Idle Hands, they are capable of adorning themselves with the local marble structure, as well as engorging into one larger hand/fist. This physical attack/defense style turns his actual hands, into massive marble constructs of Shinai. Increasing strength, density, weight, and overall physical damage through them.
    • The Blazing Quartet: These four guns are spiritual weapons unlike any of Alex's others. These four hand cannons fire spiritual energy in the form of physical bullets, and after impact the energy slowly begins a path back to his body through the astral plane. He has an incredible amount of ammunition when he's not fatigued, but the number and potency of the bullets drops the weaker he gets.
      • Fame & Fortune - The first two, larger guns, are known as Fame & Fortune, and when pulled fully from the body, have the ability to fire a constant stream of spiritual power from their barrels. Now compared to the bullets, this stream of power travels slower, lasts longer, does more damage, but also drains Alex much faster. This astral laser-like attack is capable of cutting through spiritual enemies with ease, but against most flesh surrounding a soul, it is a lot less effective. Some anomaly between the skin and soul impedes its power, and diverts some of it outward in the form of a shockwave.

      • Blood & Bone- The smaller guns; often appearing holstered under his belt-line, are capable of much more rapid fire, but with drastically reduced accuracy. They can also be hipfired: Literally. Without need for the grip from his hands, these two guns can be rotated and fired from the actual hips, and attack without hand eye coordination to offer proper aim. Inaccurate but much more rapid, these attacks come with an alarming rate of energy consumption.

      • Merging: The Trifecta- When enough spiritual power is pressed through the four guns, they can elongate and merge into one larger firearm. One gun shifts into the handle and trigger, while the other three transform into a three pronged barrel. This large bore spirit gun, can fire much larger and much more devastating rounds; three at a time, but through the same process of release and reload, The Trifecta is a heavy drain on Alex's body and spirit. It usually lasts no more than one reload and a second shot before he's too exhausted to further chamber rounds
The Growing Tree- The spinal tattoo of roots and vines, is a two part Shinai. The first part consists of its physical abilities which vary greatly from the other tattoos. The second consists of the Astral purpose that exists beyond Alex's own physical form.
      • Physical- The tree roots, and vines are capable of rapid growth, which can consume all of Alex's body in mere seconds, and actually increase his size. Drastically pushing larger quantities of his own energy through the vines and roots allows him to reach upward of eight feet tall, and over four hundred pounds. He becomes a much much larger version of himself, with only the chains still visible between the wrapping roots and vines.

      • Astral- The astral ability of The Growing Tree is far more advanced than the physical, and offers a very different source of defense. In the spirit realm, when Alex pushes his energy into the tree roots, his astral image/soul scar, turns into that of a great tree. Stretching and growing through the astral plane beyond his own form, the tree makes it impossible for others in the spirit realm to see him as he truly is. This form of camouflage is only effective against those in or connected to the astral
    • Pillars of Ruin- The earthy protrusions; on legs and arms, can be harnessed in two alternating styles. One is offensive, and the other is defensive. With an assault on his mind, Alex can produce spikes or shards of earth from his arms or legs, and use them to increase his own physical attack damage. He can manipulate the flow through the marble to increase the density of his hands and feet; granting him greater power and weight, as well as increasing the physical damage through each appendage.

Defensively merging, the marble and metal on his legs, as well as the protruding pillars on his arms, can cohesively link and wrap over his body. Unlike the metallic coating from Romulus, the marble is veined and those veins take on the outline of whatever tattoo lies underneath it. This allows for further use of other Shinai, but in drastically reduced fashion. It can not be used in conjunction with Romulus' merging.

    • The Frozen Mist- This is an elaborate use of Shinai that requires Alex's full concentration. The silverish blue haze that covets the mountainous tattoos of his thighs and legs, can be fueled and turned into a literal mist. At first it appears as nothing more than rising fog from his ankles up to his hips, but over time this thickening mist begins to chill and spin around his body. Turning into a veritable tornado of ashen icicle formations. Often used in conjunction with his pillars of ruin merging, this attack can do damage to Alex's own body, and draws more and more of his power over time. It is a safeguard against physical, as well as spiritual attacks, and offers him a veritable cocoon of safety where he can try to collect his thoughts and think through needed actions. At peak, and without fatigue wearing on him, alone the mist can last for no more than ten minutes, and when merged, it's limited to only three at best. Any longer and he risks death.

    • Feline Grace- The four eyes that watch over Alex's back, and constantly shift to seek out those who would do him harm, are far more than what is seen on the surface. Each set of eyes can see with peerless clarity, and yet beneath the many-hued layers of skin and ink, the tiger below is always ready to pounce. If Alex deems it necessary, through furthering his connection to the astral plane and releasing his own spiritual energy through the feline eye-tattoos, he can drastically increase his own agility and reaction time. Allowing him to move with a literal feline grace, and with cat-like reflexes alike. It requires no merging, or mimicking, as the entire effort requires no ink to be moved, or removed, but prolonged use can be taxing on both the physical body, as well as the spiritual energy he has. Can NOT be used with any other full body merges or releases.
    • Serpant's Bite- With similar effort into fueling the snake eyes alongside the feline ones, Alex is able to increase the flexibility and maneuverability of his body. Causing his limbs and bones to disconnect for moments without damage, and allowing him to escape harm from many varied sources. This reflexive ability has no effect on spiritual damage, but is often used to prevent injury when falling, being struck without other defenses up, or when he needs to escape from certain situations. Dislocating his thumbs, shoulders, and even popping his hips out without causing bodily harm that lasts beyond the reconnection of the joints.
    • Shielded by Blades - The least commonly used ink upon Alex's back, coming in the form of multiple daggers, two katanas, and a single skewed shield, is commonly overlooked by him in most endeavors. The potency of their power is not lost to him however, and in situations where they are suitable for use, he does not forget their worth. First, the swords can be pulled free from the skin, and used as any other weapons of their kind. Cutting and slashing through both physical and astral entities alike. The daggers, likewise, can be pulled free, and thrown to impale or pin enemies in either plane. The shield can only be mimicked, as it's location and odd shape, make pulling the full form of it free a hassle Alex has never further attempted. Much like any other shield of steel, or piece of armor, it can block blade, bullet, arrow, or spiritual attack. But due to it's limited size, it's inability to merge, and it's overall lack of diversity, Alex prefers to not use it, and instead relies more heavily on other defensive tactics. - - When merged, all of the daggers, and the katanas, are formed into a large greatsword that dances with the many tortured faces of his soul-scape tattoo background. Capable of rending through solid steel and most other man-made materials alike, it is a mighty weapon in his hands. Yet, the weight, and the taxing nature of using it, leaves the combination little more than a sidelong glance, or an emergency reserve if all else goes wrong.
    • History/Bio: Born and raised in a small mountain village, east of former Tibet, Alex knew only hardships and trials until the age of six. He watched many of his friends, and family die from a wide stretching famine, and following plague, before he was taken in by the monks of a nearby monastary. At first, the change to his life was difficult, and beyond confusing for the young boy, but as he grew older, he began to adopt and adapt the ways of his masters. He grew to love the way of life, the philosophy, the many different exercises both his mind and body endured. He learned the use of bo-staff, blade, and perfected his physical form within the fires of brutal training. Yet, there was always something missing, and something he felt like he needed - Yet did not know -
    • When Alex turned fifteen, the master he idolized died of a seemingly ordinary heart attack, but when he was left to mourn and meditate, he heard the whispered words of those other monks, and learned that something else was afoot. He spied upon the conversations that were whispered, and hushed, and came to see that there was more than just what his hands could touch. What he could feel and see with eyes alone. He sought out the second eldest of all at the temple, and through prayer and humble begging, was taught of the astral plane. Of how to reach it, and the many threats it posed. As well as the requirement for it to exist alongside the physical. He learned how souls transfered over, how they were fed upon, and how they were returned into new form on earth. The teachings were long, and seemingly endless, but after many years meditating and growing closer, Alex was finally able to understand all he had been told. It was at that age, that he was marked for the first time by the hands of his new master, and had his skin imbued with the etchings of soul ink. Deep, permanent, and awakening were the many once vivid tattoos he had carved into his entire body.
    • At the age of twenty five, he left the temple with a gracious bow, and never looked back. Vowing to seek out all the world had to offer, and remain true to his pursuit of more knowledge and a better view of what the mountains could not offer. He was shunned and told to never return, but such was the way of his people. Once you left, you could not return. Not from a philosophy, nor a rule based on ignorance, but because outside of the temple grounds, a soul could be tainted. Made impure and unwell by the many forms of spiritual energy that lingered in the world. Despite that, Alex left home, and wandered the world. Growing his knowledge, as well as his body. He poured his essence, his spirit, his very life into the tattoos he had made. Many he used his own hands to do. He grafted the shifting hues of his very spirit -- As well as those many spirits he had captured that were breaking the balance -- and used them to form the living artwork that adorned him head to toe.
    • At thirty six years old, the young man by standards of the monks, reached the western world, and was astounded by what he found. Artwork stretching ear to ear, chin to chest, arm to arm across so many countless souls. It amazed him to see so many others who wore their artwork like badges, and yet he was saddened to know that at times, it was seen as rude, disrespectful, disgusting, or vile. Such beauty, in his eyes, could never be evil. He drifted from state to state, town to town, until his collection was complete, and all but the top of his head, soles of his feet, and his face were untouched. The spots that must always remain clean, and unmarred. Where he decided to go afterwards, he seemingly did not care. Aiming to find more artwork, more spiritual callings, and continue to learn of the grand balance of life, death, and beyond.

-Personality-

Mathias is driven, cold, emotionless, and ruthless. He pursues all aspects of life with a relentless fury, and yet beneath the unchanging and sharp exterior of a wealthy businessman, is a philanthropist of his kind. He is the protector and will do anything to save his kind from ridicule, persecution, or death. His iron will, and raw power in the market he owns, is only outmatched by his willingness to do what it takes to succeed as a vampire. He doesnt care for the mortal riches he has acquired, yet he flaunts them with a righteous indiference. Showing off his possessions with alluring displays of pomp and authority.

Everything he does, is for his kind. Everything he has worked for over the centuries, has been to protect them. From the secret bunkers, to the many millions of dollars into research, he has done his share to keep those of the night, out of the light of modern day. His deepest secret however, is that he alone knows the whereabouts of the first vampire sire. His master. The progenitor of the entire race. His relationship with the sleeping ancestor is one of master and servant, and his entire existence is devoted to keeping his own sire safe. At the cost of any expense, any other life, anything at all.

Personality:
Stoic, patient, war-born, strategic. Always ready to do battle. Honor bound, and pride driven. Fearless and cold. A warrior, soldier, commander and general first and foremost. He holds no regards for life, unless it is taken without honor. He cares not for the mortal bindings and trappings of wealth. His patient gate is matched by his demeanor of calm and collected rage. Whatever drives him to battle, is unknown, and seemingly beyond reach of reason. He bears no ill will towards those who do not seek battle, but will pay them no heed if they get in his way when a battle does approach.

History:
-----
Little to nothing is known of his birth; his whereabouts before arrival in the physical world a mystery even to the greatest scholars. He bears no family crest; no marks of heritage or home, and he speaks not of where he has been. He is a warrior like no others; a power beyond natural existing within his form, and he seeks out only the greatest adversaries to face upon the field of battle. He has walked for ages, for miles upon miles, sought out war and siege, battle and spar, and with near decades of combat strategy to keep him honed and sharp, he has only been bested a few times. By challengers of far greater power, and far greater age. He seeks, and has sought only one thing since arrival into the known world, and that is to be at home somewhere. At peace with war itself. To find somewhere he can swing his blade and come to bear upon an enemy without feigning interest in the was of civility and normalcy.
-----
Powers:

-Physical-
Dedregard possesses incredible strength, speed, cunning, and an abnormal ability to calculate his opponents next move. He has studied and studied the ways of martial combat; mastering his blade and armors every curve and point, and he always strikes to end the fight at each close with the enemy.
-
His blade is nigh unbreakable; not of this world in craftsmanship, but his flag is his truest weapon. A pointed spear of blackened steel; coated with dried blood of countless foes, marking his ancestral home beyond humanity. The flag itself is just a black cloth, but he never lets it go, and would die before letting it touch the soil.
-----

-Mental-
Dedregard possesses incredible foresight and strategy. A mental aptitude for war and combat the likes of which mortal men do not understand. He can learn a warriors moves; prepare his defenses, and adapt within seconds or instants of an enemies movement. Almost as if he sees whats to come, before it arrives.
-
Beyond his foresight, Dedregard can alternate his own beta waves to reach outward to the surroundings. Creating an unseen and unheard network of mental echoes and tracing patterns. These echo-location style markings and beta waves allow him to further understand and adapt to his opponents movements and style.
-----

-The hellion Standard-
The standard; or flag he wields, is the greatest weapon for a reason beyond physical. With its presence on the field of battle; with Dedregard willing it to do so, a constant force of necrosis ridden, and disease infested corpses can rise from the earth and attack. The flag unleashes the power of the warping chaos, and unveils death in mortal form. Bringing to life entire hordes of zombie-like creatures: From dogs to men, from soldiers to civilians, whatever the darkness has to offer, the standard can bring them forth.
-----

-Hellstorm-
If, and when the hellion standard awakens, zombified corpses, soulless horrors, and undead beasts rising and attacking, Dedregard has something unique to offer. The bodies of those risen; in accompaniment with the force from the standard, can become walking and horrifying bombs. They are fueled by a purposeless form of demonic energy, and when ignited during combat, it becomes a viciously self replicating form of destructive might. The standard acts as a remote ignition switch, and the bodies become time bombs, proximity mines, and if necessary, a chain reaction set of explosives capable of great damage

-The unused-
The unused are the remains of bodies. Those left after hellstorm or decaying within the earth. They can be simple fragments of flesh; mortally wounded and decapitated bodies without limbs, or rivers of blood left over on a field of battle. These particles and pieces can be brought together to form The Unused. A beastly and destructive monstrosity that attacks relentlessly and does not stop til its last drop of energy is spent. This beast can be expended with explosive force far greater than the zombified remains it was once formed of, and when it loses limbs or pieces, they too can reattach or move of their own accord if given enough time and energy. The greatest ability of the Unused, is its ability to shield Dedregard entirely, and then recompile itself and attack again afterwards.

-The Hellion Cry-
If battle grows heated enough; Dedregards own mental aptitude matching that of the ravenous standards desire, it will usher a glorious cry. A hellish howl that calls forth bodies from beyond the battlefield. Fetid beasts and gurgling masses of muscle and might from far beyond the reaches of the arena. It will unleash a destructive roar that will draw forth hounds of hell; legions of undead and reanimated soldiers, as well as begin to transform. It will shrink in size; the flag wrapping around the haft to form a simple spear. If the legions fall, and the warrior hounds die off yet again, Dedregard will wield the standard as a weapon and a tool afterwards. Giving him the capability to do with it what it can do while planted, but while moving. He will be able to call forth Unused, and reanimate flesh from nearby, as well as unleash further crys of the hellion standard so long as he maintains a grip on it.

-Greater Hellstorm-
The greatest attack in Dedregards arsenal. A warping explosion unlike any earthly force or otherworld device. This attack reverberates throughout hell and heaven; shaking earth and air alike. It is a simplistically dangerous attack aimed at one thing. Dedregards enemy. It draws from his enemy the blood spilled, and uses that very material to create a very small and unique unused. A genetically altered Unused where the blood that burns in its veins, is that of his enemy. This miniature beastling will constantly grow larger and increase in speed and strength at a rapid pace. It will fight and heal as only a reanimated unused can. Never shedding a drop of the true blood at its core; while all along gaining more limbs, and more armor through the flesh and decay around or coming from the cry of the hellion standard. In the last moments it will open up a wound in itself and spray the blood outward towards its enemy, and in a flash of demonic force, the expanding energies within it will explode outward. Every piece of unused attached or unattached; every decaying or fetid piece of flesh, every drop of spilled blood will expand and explode with a force equivalent to most atomic explosions. Focused into a path that the blood spray guides it. Allowing Dedregard to focus a massive explosion into a streamlined attack and angle it towards his enemy with greater force than ever

-Beyond the Hellstorm-
If all else fails; the horde not enough to vanquish a foe or sate Dedregards own desire for combat, he may plant it into the ground at its base, and call upon one last trick. One last great power. With the unprotected standard sheathed in the soil, he can multiply his own form effortlessly, and constantly revive as well as reproduce. He can arise from the soil after death or before; a nether-verse replica rising to take his former place, and in the direst of straits, he can manipulate the gateway to flood an entire area with half-formed replicas of himself. All donning his blade, but limited to mindless attacks and forward charges.
-----

Weaknesses:
Dedregard has several weaknesses; of which the greatest is honor, and he utilizes them as he does his own strengths. He will not back down from a challenge or a duel. A warriors code preventing it, and he has never been seen retreating. Ever. Its death or victory with no middle ground. He is a calculating and talented warrior, but when he deals with those of a like mind, he often gives more credit than necessary. Expecing all of his adversaries to be as strong as him, no matter their appearance or value to society. From lowly soldiers, to generals, to whatever else is thrown his way, each is competed against one on one and with honor. Meaning he often spends too much energy, or time, dealing with minions or peons, before greeting the real threats in his way.

At the same time, as he is calculating and tactical, he is equally as headstrong. Unwilling to abandon a version of a plan, until all hope for it's success is lost. This has led to near defeats in his past, and will surely lead to more than a fair number in the future. Although, as he is not dead, he concedes no loss, and therefore he is still without need to change.
