(All images are placeholders, sadly not all of my characters have been drawn by beautiful people- or myself- yet. Will be updated with credits to the artist once I have images to share! But the placeholders are roughly accurate- except some of the Florae which are very much of the "take with a grain of salt" variety)

In my endless imagination I have created far too many characters for my fictional world of "Shayla". First debuting in "Alva viAmi haSakura", Shayla is a robust and diverse world based on science and faith- you cannot have one without the other after all! In this post, I am going to feature 6 of my favorite lovelies from each race of Shayla. This is not an extensive list because trust me when I say, I have over 100.
If these characters spark your interest, perhaps we can discuss roleplaying (I will state I am especially attached to my Adodeme children, and want to flesh out my Florae children) but for now, enjoy!

Adodeme- Sentient Arthropods (includes Arachnids, Crustaceans, Hymenoptera, Lepidoptera, Odonita, Phasmids) Scientifically accurate besides human speech, expressing emotions and complex brain operations. Contains all arthropod parts, lifecycle stages, abilities, etc.

Orme Chieftainess Orme Lavende age 21 ​ Headstrong and hopeful Chieftainess of her struggling tribe hidden inside a "haunted" jungle. A folk hero in Shayla, though unlikely ever existed. Loves all things floral, hates the smell of peppermint and can be very impish and competitive. Believes that sometimes being the "bad guy" is necessary. Skilled in guerilla warfare and never leaves the house without her family's heirloom- a spear. Her mother was killed by a rival species, but she still seeks peace. Has a canon love interest, but can be flexible for roleplaying. Species: Emerald Jewel Wasp (Ampulex Compressa) Height: 4' 6"​ Abilities: venomous sting (capable of "brainwashing" certain foes), flight, pheromone usage and tracking, pollination Personality: skilled leader, calm under pressure, clever, optimistic, impish, sneaky, stubborn, underhanded High Fantasy ⠀ Bug ⠀ Folktale

Alva Princess Alva Victoria (Wada) age . 25 ​ Titular character of "Alva viAmi haSakura". A timid and gentle Princess who suffered firsthand the wrath of the "goddess" Golgotha and the cordyceps fungus. Escaped with her life and befriended a human in a different world. Sweet to a fault, and that's what her tastes center on. Loves anything soft, snuggly and sweet- including her husband and two larvae daughters. The Princess of the Yellowjacket colony Gardenia, the Queen being her adopted sister. Very hesitant to sting and has only done so once. Has a canon love interest and family, no flexibility. Species: Thisbe's Tarantula Hawk (Pepsis Thisbe) Height: 5' 8"​ Abilities: venomous sting (capable of paralysis), flight, pheromone usage and tracking, pollination Personality: shy, kind, sometimes sassy and sarcastic, loyal, timid, scared of her own shadow, distrusting, emotional High Fantasy ⠀ Bug ⠀ Protagonist

Caleb Caleb Antoine age . 18 ​ A kind shepherd hailing from the small island nation of Everglade, thrown into adventure against his will when a sorceress destroyed his home. Despite almost dying on multiple occasions, Caleb hasn't lost his trademark smile. He's quick to jump into a task if needed, especially if it involves an injured individual. Curious about the world around him but content in his station in life. Despite his mother being missing for far too long, Caleb rises with the sun, determined to make each day better than the last. Has a canon love interest with no flexibility. Salvia Princess Salvia Amarillis age . 18 ​ A Princess of fairytale fame, her story speaking that her parents begged every mage and priest of Shayla to bestow a mouth upon Salvia- something most Rosy Maple Moths lose in adulthood- because a prophecy said her voice would be so beautiful it would bring good fortune to the Kingdom. When no mage was able to, they decided to hurry Salvia off to any suitor who could catch her eye. One did, but then she was kidnapped by an infamous pirate. Salvia managed to escape with some assistance from a male Moth of a different species, and their true love gave her a mouth. And it gave her suitor his joy back. Has a canon love interest but is flexible for roleplaying. Aubrey Aubretia "Aubrey" age . 19 ​ Otherwise known as the "Buzzing Lilac", this Bee is infamous for pick-pocketing travelers in the tale "The Fallen Veil". She fled her colony before her final molt/ecdysis into adulthood to escape her responsibilities as a gyne (or future Queen) and took a life of crime to never be reliant on her mother colony. This put strain on her relationship with her sister which she deeply regrets but stays on the run, fearing she cannot change now that she's started. Meets with a Crab paladin and cursed Moth to find the titular "Fallen Veil" of the "goddess" Shayleigh to stop all the curses Shayleigh put on Shayla- which Aubretia hopes will abolish her gyne fate so she can live freely. Or as free as she thinks she is. No canon love interest, but very canon friendship group. (Based loosely on Vi from "Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling") Species: Moscardón Bumblebee (Bombus Dahlbomii) Height: 5'9"​ Abilities: venomous sting, flight, pheromone usage and tracking, pollination Personality: sly, morally gray, clever, cunning, distrusting, opportunistic, rebellious, soft at heart, wants to be a better person High Fantasy ⠀ Bug ⠀ Folktale

Adar Admiral Adar Henri age . 24 ​ The first drone/male admitted into Gardenia's military, Adar joined to pay for medical treatments for his bedridden mother. His mother suffered from DWV caused by varroa mites, Adar having some of the affliction as well, and he learned guitar and singing to soothe her during the painful episodes. Caught the attention of the previous Admiral who took him under her wing and helped him rise the ranks till he bested the Admiral in the moving-up ceremonial duel- which he fought in honor of Princess Alva who he was smitten by. Sadly his mother did pass away, but now he has his lovely wife and two larvae daughters to sing to. The very definition of a chivalrous paladin, except with less armor (unless we count exoskeleton), or Prince Charming. Has a canon love interest and family, no flexibility. Daonna- Humans (divided by geography, not "race") The only magic users of Shayla, usually by shady dealings with the "goddessess" of the world. Same as you and I despite this.

Donny Dauphin Donetello Laurence Chris age .27 ​ First in line for the throne, Donetello serves his kingdom of Dekana with an outstretched hand and readied sword. Helped lead a revolution, alongside his four siblings and mother, against his tyrannical father- putting his mother Aigis as Queen over the land and driving the old King Richard into exile. Donetello learned pyrokinesis and aerokinesis at a young age, then bestowed these upon his younger siblings so they would be better equipped to help Dekana. Often goes on diplomatic trips with the Queen. Has a canon love interest with no flexibility. Snowdrop Princess Snowdrop Spiritcatcher age .25 ​ Princess of a now destroyed kingdom, became friends with a neighboring Prince at an early age. Highly curious about the spiritual realm, Snowdrop often gets into trouble when she believes she's found remnants of the "goddesses". Especially drawn to Will-O Wisps, and trained to wield their magic. Including being a trickster. One could say she's been possessed by the Wisps. But not for long, because that same childhood friend removes the spirits and brings Snowdrop back to the land of the living. Likes to also spend time with her mother and older brother. Has a canon love interest with no flexibility. (The first character I ever made at age five.) Michelle Admiral Michelle Katrina Michael age .42 ​ Originally from another world entirely, Michelle and her husband ended up in Shayla because of Shayleigh's meddling. Cursed with telekinesis at the cost of her sanity whenever it's used, and a horrendous scar upon her forehead- reminscent of a gemstone- to show her new magic wielding, Michelle found herself in the Greneborne military alongside her husband. Both rose through the ranks quickly, winning the King Mustaf and Princess Genevieve's approval and becoming decorated. Despite the praise, Michelle is incredibly homestuck, so her husband tries everyday to find a way back home. Michelle joins a rag-tag group of heroes when a sorceress comes knocking. Never leaves without the one bastian of her homeworld, her revolver. Has a canon love interest with no flexibility. Ivette Ex-Commander Ivette Beau Christian/Richoe age .36 ​ Grew up in a good Christian home in the woods of Mayum, with loving parents (an ex-pirate and a monk) and a younger brother. But threw all this away when she was tempted into the "goddess" Golgotha's cult at the age of sixteen and ran away from home to become a coven witch. For years was possessed by the malicious spirit of Golgotha- which gave her magic and made her terrifying in battle. Became part of Greneborne's military shortly after. Compelled by Golgotha, she tried to assassinate the current Admiral only to have a moment of clarity and put the knife down. On the run from the law for the attempted murder, she bumps into a lost young woman in the woods and is once again compelled by Golgotha to kill... but once again unsuccessful, and is exorcised. Now she is on the road trying to redeem herself and make up for the things she's done as a former witch. And she learns she can still be saved despite all of her sins. Derrin Lord Derrin Curtis Macabre age .20 ​ The only child of the noble household of Fantasia, Derrin was slated to take over the estate. Derrin was mistreated from boyhood, his parents believing he was evil because of his magic. But at seventeen he found out his father was part of the cult of Golgotha and tricked his mother into marrying him, and not just that but Derrin's father wanted a daughter so badly that when Derrin was born he cursed Derrin with the dark arts that would shave years off his life. Derrin confronted his parents and demanded they treat him better because he is simply a product of their marriage- not a demon, He was thrown out for this "rebellion" and all of Fantasia has Derrin on their most-wanted list and wandered for years- homeless and living off the land. He eventually saves a priestess of Shayleigh and her daughter from a stampeding Golgotha cultist and aids the mother and daughter duo in their quest to stop a horrible sorceress- as he hopes he can show everyone he is beyond the curse and he is worthy of affection. Has a canon love interest but some flexibility in roleplaying. Ananias Ananias Shonju age .40 ​ Born to two assassins in the island nation of Tama Shogyoka, along with four sisters, Ananias very early on wanted to become an assassin too- not knowing what that meant. He joined many other youth in this quest, including the Emperor's daughter who became his best friend. However, because Ananias got more favor from their teacher, the Princess ordered that assassins be illegal and any- along with their families- should be killed mercilessly. Ananias, at only age seven, was forced to flee his home while the rest of his family met their end. He made it to the Lush Lost-Ways, and grew up isolated... on purpose. He feels eternal guilt for not being able to save his family, offering prayers to Shayleigh every night that someday he can see them again. He trained in magic to pass the time and became skilled in cryokinesis. One night he's bombarded by an ex-witch and her unwitting companion for shelter for the night. And he reluctantly does so- joining their quest to avenge his family. Rose Princess Rosetta Lilac age .27 ​ Second born of the royal family in Floret, Rosetta was usually overlooked in favor of her aggressive older brother. When their kingdom was attached by invading Paislie forces, Rosetta was left for dead. But a nice farmer found her and nursed her back to health. Affectionally named "Rose" by her new friend, Rosetta grew up working the land and learning how to read the human language her caregiver spoke. She also learned sign language which she found easier to understand. Rosetta, having been used to not having her needs met, usually becomes reclusive when something's wrong, and wills herself to be mute in new situations. Has a canon love interest, but has flexibility in roleplays. Angelo Angelo August age .29 ​ Comes from a quiet family of just his mother and twin brother, Angelo has already dreamed of being a Knight like his late father. When he's given the chance in Floret, he takes it easily and reveals himself to be quite skilled at archery and gymnastics. This caught the attention of the Princess who quickly befriended him and the two fell in love. But because he's more fragile compared to other Florae, Angelo has to prove himself daily to his detractors- though in the Princess' eyes he's perfect already. Has a canon love interest with no flexibility. Nimfe Princess Nimfe Lamprocabillis age .24 ​ Beloved to her parents and her kingdom, Nimfe grew up in luxury but never became entitled or bratty. Whatever she was given she gives ten-fold to her royal subjects. This, combined with her blooms and personality have crowned her the most beautiful Princess across Florae kind and many have tried to win her hand. Or take it from her. Despite these content attempts to kidnap, marry or kill her Nimfe has stayed every kind and hopeful that someday she can marry out of love instead and rule her kingdom peacefully. She eventually meets a young stamenate/male from the outskirts and finds him interesting. She befriends him and finally knows what it's like to fall in love... Dandy Dandelia Elizabeth Cotton age .22 ​ Her parents, in the slums of Paislie, had Dandelia germinate unexpectantly and rather than give her to a new family or work extra hard to provide for her, they kept Dandelia locked away (there's more to the story but this is spoiler free). When she did eventuslly start going to school she was mercilessly bulled for being a Wild Florae or a "Weed" as they'd say. Eventually she was expelled for getting into a fight with a bully which made her parents crack down harder on her. At age twelve she snuck out of the house to watch a traveling actors' troupe and instantly fell in love. That night she ran off with the troupe. She did however send whatever earnings she got back to her parents- hoping to buy their validation. Which never came. Over the years she got less roles in productions and became the waterboy of the troupe- stuck doing chores. But she got her big break with a solo gig in Crystal Fields. And when she was about to go on stage, Shayleigh appears to her and tells her to join a group of heroes instead. Which Dandelia accepts at the cost of an angry mob who didn't like waiting anymore. Has a love interest with no flexibility. Charaya Duchess Charaya Cayrodianthus age .24 ​ Charaya is one of many siblings meant to take a piece of the family's estate in Paisilie. Despite knowing her portion will be small, she is the most outspoken about making positive changes around them. Often in meetings amongst nobles she will voice her concerns for the Wild Variety's way of life, only to be endlessly mocked. Eventually she grew tired of trying and tried hands-on approaches. But the Wild Variety in the slums figured she had ulterior motives and so most rejected her services or charity. Frustrated, Charaya teams up with other noble Florae in other kingdoms to hopefully get the ball rolling. Third time's the charm right? Has no canon interest so flexible in roleplaying. Dayloe Dayloe Commelina age .30 ​ Wishing of making life better for his family, Dayloe set out from their home in Paislie to become a merchant. Except this job proved to be more dangerous than he expected, as he and his fellow caravan were constantly raided. And sometimes he would end up held for ransom. So he grew out his roots to make whips out of them to defend himself. He still travels the world but gave up being a merchant, now a quest for something new. He has no canon love interest and is flexible for roleplaying.
