Good Evening Sanctum Dwellers,
A phrase that has never been more apt because, after six long years and an immense amount of work by some very talented members of staff and myself, it is time to let you all go outside.
The Outer Sanctum is open for exploration and with it, a whole new world for you to not only discover, but to help shape.
But what is the Outer Sanctum? Well, I won't rehash our entire previous announcement. But the short version is this: It a wholly new roleplay forum where users can take on the roles of approved characters who can engage with each other in stories that shape a grand narrative. All taking place in a persistent world that exists beyond the bounds of any single story. Want to go treasure hunting in the Infinite Wilds, come home and establish a tavern which future stories can then take place in? Do it, the world is yours. But nothing worthwhile is easy.
It does, of course, have its own rules, designed to make the experience enjoyable for all concerned. Reading those is the place to start.
After that? The time comes to create your own character. There is no limit on the number you can have in the long term, but for now, we're asking that everyone start with one character. All major characters must be confirmed before use.
Don't forget to explore the world! Read up on the lore, the creatures, the secrets of Khare, the history of Tethis or the sprawling grandeur of the Infinite Wilds. And of course, read the stories of those who have already entered the world and what fate had in store for them.
Venture not into Sha'Yogeth. None have returned, none will.
These locations are where things start—but who knows what more might be discovered. Or built.
From there, of course, the time comes to roleplay. If you want to find a story, just use the new Outer Sanctum Prefix in our existing roleplay request forums!!!
You can, of course, also add any story ideas to your existing request threads, your characters to your character threads and, if there is enough interest, the Outer Sanctum might even get its own request forum.
But then again, you don't always need a request thread. The Outer Sanctum allows Open and Closed stories to exist side by side, using the "Open Journey" and "Closed Expedition", to indicate whether other people are free to join a specific story. If a thread is Open, your confirmed characters can just wander in. Later on will come Sanctioned Stories, where your characters can join in on events that will shape the future of the world.
There is much to be found out there in the world. Not least, an entirely new set of badges. Some are easily earned—others will not be known until someone stumbles upon them.
Finally, if you have any questions, be sure to ask @The Narrator, your fearless guide through this world of mayhem and mystery. And of course, if you want to help in expanding the world, they are always open to assistance
