Evening Sanctum!!!

So, way back near the start of the Sanctum, we realized two things:

1. A lot of you nerds play D&D

2. That people on site were interested in using the site for D&D, in addition to other roleplays.

Thus was born our "Dungeon Master" role, a unique red name for people who ran D&D or other tabletop games using the site. Over the years, we've used it for a series of other things. People who ran games on the forums, people who worked on our Outer Sanctum project, as well as just people who expressed an interest in maybe running games. Well, it only took me 10 years, but we're hitting the reset button, setting out some clearer rules and, of course, actively inviting anyone who wants to run a game to reach out to us.

To apply, you need to be:

1. A member of the site for at least six months and in good standing (no major policy violations)

2. Actively writing on site

3. Equipped to run games. These will most likely be run in the Sanctum announcement's Discord server and make use of DnD Beyond for dice roles.

4. While prior experience is not strictly required, it is strongly encouraged.

The actual Dungeon Master role will only be given after a successful first session. This can be the start of a campaign or a one-shot. This role, essentially, gives you permission to recruit for games autonomously and to run them in the site server, without a strict need to have a staff member present. You'll still need to let us know, but this will allow a bit of autonomy and ensure staff are not required to schedule the games.

We have also decided that the role (though not the awarded badge) will lapse after six months if no further games or sessions are planned. This is to avoid confusion in the future for users who are actively looking for games. If and when you successfully complete a campaign, we'll make the role permanent.

To be clear, any TTRPG is allowed. D&D is the one we've traditionally seen, but if you want to run Pathfinder, Force and Destiny, Daggerheart or anything else you can think of, that is totally allowed, you'll just need to find players for it and possibly the means to run it online. Sessions will be required to adhere strictly to site rules, including policies on underage and animal characters, with particular emphasis on respect for other users and the site itself. We can and will ban users who use these games for bullying, harassment or off-site recruiting.

If you want to run a game, message me or @sanctumstaff so we can discuss it!
