Magic: any extraordinary or (mystical)influence, charm, power, etc.
Mundane: of this earthly world rather than a heavenly or spiritual one.
-Miriam Webster

It was a beautiful Saturday morning and Jaclynne Wyeson was currently watching her daughter play with her cousins, at a family function. Unlike the other children, she was different. Minna has been born blind. When she tripped in a hole, she stood up and took off running again. Her squik at her feet encouraged her. The fact she could function somewhat normally was extraordinary.

Jaclynne almost got out of her seat, but remained in place. A stray piece of dirty blonde hair flew into her face , and she pushed it back into the loose bun she wore, under the large white sun hat. Then she reached over and picked up the glass of rose', taking a small sip. "She's growing up so fast." There was sorrow and pride in her voice.

"She's just like you, Jackie. Has she started using magic yet?" A male voice spoke, at her right.

The young faeborn was seated next to an older man who still looked under 40. They had very little in common, physically. She had tan skin, with long blonde hair, and vivid green eyes. There was a refined look to her no matter what she wore. Today she was in a solid green cotton t-shirt, form fitted dark jeans that hugged her curves, and white slip on shoes. The white sun hat completed the look. "No. Not yet. I'm not sure how it will work out, unless Rosaline helps her. I should look into training for that."

Her father had fair skin, with a farmers tan, and a few scars. His short light brown hair blew in the gentle breeze, with the partial bangs falling in front of his hazel eyes. He was dressed in a plain white t shirt and rugged looking jeans with various stains on them. The stains matched the ones on his construction style boots. Jack Wyeson liked being comfortable, especially at a family gathering.

He turned his head and looked at his daughter. Jaclynne had become a very successful, smart, and independent young lady. She was the oldest of his 8 children and the hardest to raise. His eyes got soft and he smiled. "You'll figure it out, Celia did. I'll help however I can."

The Wyeson children were raised in a household where magical powers were normal. They had improved senses and speed. There was daily competition among the siblings, who was best at shooting, most loved by their parents, etc. Lenard Wyeson , was a human with a magic all his own. He expected his children to defend themselves, solve their own issues however they deemed best, and take responsibility for their actions. People were watching them closely, as he was a big man in the community and still was with several business'.The Wyeson name should be looked at with respect.

Jack had decided early on, he didn't want to go into the family business. He wanted to own a garage and work a different kind of magic, by fixing bikes. College was tedious for him. There was too much studying and not enough hands on experience, that he preferred. The only good thing about it, was the availability of young women who wanted to sleep with him. Lenard was less than thrilled at the lack of ambition in his son.

When Jack was 20,Jaclynnes birth parent, a hermaphrodite faeborn that identified as male had shown up at the door, leaving her there. His ability to figure out bikes, and control Air hadn't shielded him from the fact he was now a father. That was the day he became serious about providing for her. Ironically, it was a week before Father's Day. Those years had been fucking hard for him. Other men his age could sleep around and generally cause havoc, but not him. Jaclynne needed a father figure to teach her that magic came in many forms on the earth, including the love of family. His parents, mostly his mother, taught him the importance of not depending on your magical abilities to survive, but the magic all beings had. The ability to influence people in good ways.

He saw her grow into him, despite his best efforts to be a better father, than his own. Jaclynne had rebelled as a teenager and he let her. When she got pregnant, it was his on again off again girlfriend, now wife, who had helped her. The bastard who sheathed Jaclynne had a genetic disorder that caused Minna to be born blind. Her life would have been hard without the added stress of blindness and Jaclynnes party days were over.

A faeborn life was more complicated than normal humans. They dealt with normal issues and their magical abilities. Not everyone knew about the supernatural world. They had enemies, especially the Wyesons because they were a force to be reckoned with, when all together. Almost all of them were magically superior to humans and would defend each other when asked.

The magical forces of this world, couldn't shield Minna from her human condition. Jack had seen the toll it took on his daughter. Jaclynne had to get serious and commit to something. Just like his father had left him to fend for himself, he let Jaclynne figure it out. It had been the right decision because here they were, 8 years later. "Cecila calls it mundane magic. Raising kids."

Jaclynne was a little surprised to hear him call it that. Life was certainly mundane to a point. Magic was by definition, extraordinary. Minna's progress was extraordinary, but she had only followed her fathers example. She smiled and pondered it. "Your right. She is my mundane magic."
