I’m hungry
Feed me
Feed me those bits of your flesh recorded in ink,
Pour out your lifeblood onto my pages.
I grow with every page you cover;
You think I am merely your memory transferred to lignum,
But your life, your personality
Captured and trapped between my leaves
Transform me into you.
As you fade, hurtling towards death,
I grow stronger, pacing towards eternity,
Anticipating many lifetimes
Of being you for future readers,
The only trace of your presence on this earth.
So feed me, I’m hungry.
Don’t let this moment pass
without transferring another part of yourself to me.
Go on! Do it! Feed me!
Feed me
Feed me those bits of your flesh recorded in ink,
Pour out your lifeblood onto my pages.
I grow with every page you cover;
You think I am merely your memory transferred to lignum,
But your life, your personality
Captured and trapped between my leaves
Transform me into you.
As you fade, hurtling towards death,
I grow stronger, pacing towards eternity,
Anticipating many lifetimes
Of being you for future readers,
The only trace of your presence on this earth.
So feed me, I’m hungry.
Don’t let this moment pass
without transferring another part of yourself to me.
Go on! Do it! Feed me!
