Hello, everyone! Been a minute or ten since I've had to introduce myself. Could say I don't know where to start but, diving right in seems to be working for everyone else, may as well join the jumpers. =)
Collectively, in one form or another, I've been writing roleplay for some odd 18 years. I stumbled into it the same way a lot of us probably did; in a long-gone chat room some place way back when. For a girl with her nose always jammed in one Forgotten Realms book or another, it was the second best discovery she'd ever made. The first? R.A. Salvatore on a dime book shop shelf. ; )
As far as my writing style/preference, I'm a large para to multi-para author who writes in third person, past tense most of the time. Reply lengths do often depend on my writing partner. I try to match their style and I don't pressure anyone to create novel-length posts. Unless of course, they want to. =D That being said, I lean towards the multi-para for myself. I avoid one-liner replies and I'm not a fan of overly short posts. When looking for a partner I enjoy good story-telling, description, and a desire to push the plot forward. I don't like to be the only one in the session moving things along. If that were the case, I'd write by myself and that just isn't any fun. I love a few good NPCs and detailed world-building. Both from the writing and reading aspects.
I also enjoy talking to my writing partners OOC. Getting to know them, getting to know their minds and ideas, talking about our characters and our stories, the directions we want to go and things we want to explore. I feel like a good friendship/understanding with your partner makes for better inspiration and story-telling.
Fantasy is my heart, likely always will be. Obviously, Forgotten Realms is the big hitter on my list. From Icewind Dale all the way to the Underdark, it's by far my favorite fandom. Especially the cutthroat world of the Drow, always lurking below the surface and in the corners of the campfire tales and bedtime stories. Others on this list would be the world of the Witcher, Dragon Age, and even Diablo for my fellow fantasy gamers out there.
Coming in a close second is historical fiction. I love a good bygone era. Roman, Germanic, Medieval; can't go wrong with a good, bloody tale about Vikings or war-driven Kings. Mix in a little fantasy with it like pagan pantheons and creatures from their myths and legends and I'm there for it. AH period pieces are great too, of course.
Third, I love the supernatural. You can't go wrong with werewolves and vampires. Especially in modern settings.
Lastly, I do, on occasion albeit rarely, enjoy some All Human, modern fiction. It's got to be good, though. I guess you could safely assume I'm not into slice of life. Get enough of that in the real world. Don't need any more of it watering down my carefully crafted escapism.
To answer the question of smut; Yes. Though, allow me to elaborate. I enjoy writing and reading smut/erotica as much as anyone and enjoy splattering it throughout my sessions. I like a relationship aspect in most of my stories. (Don't read that as 'love' aspect. Sex doesn't always equal love, ya know what I'm sayin'? *nudge nudge*) With that in mind, I generally don't write smut just for the sake of writing smut. It has to be a part of the story. The best stories and the best smut go together, not separately. ; ) I could occasionally write stories based around smut, think Fifty Shades if you need reference, but even that has a backbone and some meat. If you're looking for someone for the sole purpose of writing get-you-off kink-fic, I'm not your girl. (No, I'm not a 'kink shamer.' You do you, boo.) Now, if your character has a kink when it comes up in our story, by all means, fire up the kink mobile. There's not much I'll run from and I've got some naughty preferences, too. I don't blanche at the taboo, but I will NOT participate in anything overtly disgusting. Don't make me say those things out loud. =/
Things I am not particularly fond of and/or don't hold any interest for me, at least a few of them and some already mentioned are:
Anime fandoms, slice of life, anything 'furry' related, (sorry, ya'll are CUTE AS PIE, just not my thing,) excessive smut fics or kink focused writing, and canon characters. I enjoy a great fandom, but I like the diversity and originality of OCs. Canon characters just don't get my imagination going. I don't want to be them, I just want to play in their world sometimes.
So, I guess if you've made it this far, thanks so much for taking the time to read and get to know me a little bit. If anything I've talked about is interesting to you or something you enjoy as well, feel free to shoot me a message and introduce yourself. Maybe we can whip up something and a few someones to play. Happy writing!
