The Story of the World:
It's the year 3016. Humanity has overcome many things once not thought possible; curing many previously incurable diseases, genetic modification and enhancement, neural implants, and even cheating - or slowing the process of death. The collapse of the OUE (One United Earth), the global governing body, gave rise to the era of the corporations. Out of these, five remain to this day, each controlling a section of Earth often referred to as 'blocks', and act as their block's supreme Overseer. Humanity as a majority is now split - those directly in service to these Corporations who are given the best housing, food, education, and entertainment all at their Overseer's expense; and those who live every day lives, scrounging for food, some homeless, working jobs that do not benefit the Corporations directly.
The five major mega cities on Earth are the main hubs for each of the Corporations. These magnificent metropolises have over the years grown upwards - shooting skyscrapers that jut through the clouds and into the sky, and for those most loyal to the Corporations, entire floating cities above that complete with everything one could ever possibly need. Those not so lucky others, the vast majority of humanity, are forced to live below ground as to not be an eyesore on those above them. Here the black market does its bidding, the slums span miles, and for those lucky enough to have been given housing it is of the worst kind and condition.
The Story of we who are Lost:
Aertrinea; the largest of the mega cities on Earth, located within the block under the jurisdiction of the Aerodyne Corporation and its current President, Michael Cromwell. Once one of the last places on Earth you could find what one could define as 'equality' among its citizens. Each, regardless of career, was given housing, food, and everything needed to live normal and even successful lives. That was until the former President's son stepped into role as Overseer. Now we have here what everyone has had everywhere else for years. Slum towns, gangs, violence, drugs of all kinds, counterfeit implants and modifications - at least, for all of us who didn't up and change our entire lives to bend to the will of Aerodyne. Those who traded it all away for the good life got just that. Families split, some torn, but the luxuries of becoming a Corporation robot seemed to outweigh it all for them.
For years now unrest has been brewing in the slum towns above and below the surface. The people are fed up, hungry, and full of hate. When President Cromwell first took the reigns from his father and began to unravel and destroy what he had built, that's when those being forced underground began to band together, forming the Invisible Alliance - a small group of protesters and activists for making things better for EVERYONE, again. It wasn't until the President unleashed Corporation goons to rough up, interrogate, and even kill citizens that the IA turned from protesters into peacekeepers. Though in the eyes of others they're labeled 'terrorists.'
