Hello! My name is Tengu. I am LGBT+, go by they/them pronouns, and am 27, as well as a parent with a part-time job. I love to game, park it on my sofa and watch all kinds of anime and movies, and have a tendancy to over-explain myself into absurdity and incomprehensibility! I'm a huge night owl due to both insomnia and the inexplicable urge to consume as much Redbull as possible. I've been roleplaying since I was in my tweens and got my start in the Warriors fandom way, way back in the day (on Conforums and Proboards), but eventually graduated to other fandoms. I've learned a lot over the years and there's still plenty more left, but I'm glad to be poking my head around in message boards again after a terribly long stint in the Tumblr RPC.
When it comes to writing, I'm always trying to improve and try new things; There really isn't a whole lot I won't try. My execution isn't always great, but nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? I'm a big fan of darker content - be it toxic ships of any kind or depressing, violent, and all around complicated storylines - and, thusly, many of my characters end up having some flavor of Bad Thing happen in their lives or concurrently throughout (though I don't tend to go into too much detail unless it is meaningful and relevant to the discussion or roleplay). Ultimately, I got a bit bored of meaningless fluff and discovered an enjoyment of Hurt/Comfort in all the forms it comes in, but romance and friendship in all the forms they come in are important focuses for me; Human connection is fascinating! The themes I tend to include in my writing always end up focusing on personal growth, self actualization and acceptance, forgiveness, complicated emotions, subjects such as loss, familial abuse, drug use, trauma, and the complicated range of emotions that come with them, and many more. As such, much of my writing is character driven rather than story driven, or, I suppose you could say character focused. As an aside, I'm unused to interacting with live-action faceclaims these days and generally prefer animated ones, or those that come from personal artwork (mine are a combination of both!), but that doesn't mean I'm not open to it. In fact, I'm more than willing! Just not used to it like I was maybe five years ago. I'm happy to write with original characters as well as canons, though I will not be writing anything other than original characters myself due to a profound lack of confidence and vague imposter syndrome. As far as genres go, I'll do just about anything. I love horror, romance, scifi, cyberpunk, high and dark fantasy, all the citrus, and lots more!
A little something about my OCs: I am a very big fan of the moody/broody types and the one I will usually play is very much that type. I love a temperamental, touch starved, emotionally hurt, traumatized, and bitter man with a heart of gold. I know, as of late, that hasn't been everyone's cup of tea, so I'm happy to play my other characters as well - just be prepared for heartbreaking backstories, sad but forward character development, and characters who love to love more than they're technically capable of giving. Think of the Sarah McLachlan commercials and take home your sweet magical dogs and cats today! (Maybe I shouldn't lead with that... but, seriously, I love anthros - the meaning and purpose of life.) What I typically tend to write is male characters, but lately I've been in quite the mood for writing a female character instead - it's been...a rather shameful amount of time since I last mained one and it's about time I changed that.
On the subject of fandom, I'm semi-active in three as a fanfiction writer, but my main ones are MHA and Devil May cry, though I have written for and in a number of others. I have a lot of love and have written in and for a number of other fandoms such as Hemlock Grove, The Hobbit, Destiny, Naruto, Teen Wolf, Silent Hill, Young Justice, The Witcher, Star Ocean, Dragon Age, Hogwarts, Elden Ring, Blood+, Final Fantasy 7, and plenty more! As such, AUs and crossovers are always on the table! I've got a lot of ideas rolling around in my head, both original and fandom related, so there ought to be plenty we can hash out!
So that's a little bit about me and what you might expect from interacting with me! Nice to meet everyone!
