Been lurking for a while, figure that if I can't find an RP I want to join maybe I should just post up my own.

I want to RP a slightly tongue-in-cheek take on high fantasy. Think 'Your Highness' the film if you've seen it, (go watch it if you haven't, seriously funny). Think Discworld. Think indignant ogres and fugly princesses. Kings, Queens, Knights etc, but add in some fun, lighthearted characters alongside the darkness and danger of living in a fantasy world.

Basically, I want to do some high fantasy roleplay with a small group of people, taking a generic fantasy world and exploring it. Maybe you're an orc who accidentally got into magic school. Maybe you're an elf who fell in love with a dwarf. Or a knight in shining armour who is a coward, or a dragon-born creature who's afraid of fire.

I don't really want there to be a goal or agreed plotline, except that the people in the RP can throw up surprises, twists and turns, challenging each other inside the story. That's how I think RPs can go far, when everyone's involved in making the story move forward and stay interesting, and nobody is in charge.

I'm not interested in it going into smut, but if its appropriately dramatic/fun it's all cool. I expect there to be some fighting and gore and suchlike, but it's really just whatever works!

Anyway, I can't promise to be here every day, but I do like to keep RPs moving and if I'm not able to be around much I'll let you know. I guess it shouldn't need to be said that I want someone quite happy to write to a good standard and decent length posts, and that just because it's light hearted in theme doesn't mean that it should be any less well-thought out and dramatic.

Princess Melacante of the Kingdom of Korone.
Having fallen for a bad boy who left her hanging, making a mockery of her across her whole Kingdom, Princess Melacante decided that she should be an evil witch queen who would be feared by all of her people. Unfortunately, she didn't know any magic, so she left her kingdom to go and learn evil magic, and to get rid of that bothersome thing called 'empathy' so that she could return one day and be the cruel witch queen she promised to be. Unfortunately for her, she's really not very good at being evil.
 
This sounds super fun and I'd be all up for it if I had the time right now. I might be able to take something like this on... but I tend to let down the group any time I attempt group RP.

Monster Discworld fan.

How often would you shoot for responses? What length posts do you have in mind?

I can swing perhaps 1-2 para posts once daily. A little more perhaps if I do every few days.

Hmm I'll think up some suitably fun characters. I've done enough thinking in the back of my head over years of reading Discworld, Magic Kingdom for Sale, etc.
 
Darwen Thunderbowels is a dwarven prince. He's an orphan, he has a detailed, magically inscribed hereditary sword, and a signet ring, and a claim to a far off kingdom that fell to orcs long ago.

He's also... Well he looks a bit scruffy, he appears to be wearing lots and lots of tunics as padding under his armor to bulk him up a bit, and his beard is one of those yarn dealies, his own chin having nothing more than peach fuzz.

In fact, he might be a halfling rogue and con artist in disguise. And the real Darwen might have been beaten and stripped naked after getting drunk at an inn and boasting about his claim.

Darwen does find it works great for getting people to loan him money and supplies for his "quest" at any rate. Who wouldn't want the well wishes of the scion of an ancient and noble house?
 
May I join?... I too am a discworld fan so I can do that style of fantasy.

Brainstorm a character. Not sure where OP is, but we can recruit some more in the meantime. This is something light hearted after all.
 
Okay... Hmm... I've got a basic idea... I'll have a character within an hour or so.
 
Um actually hey - you're a pretty prolific writer. How about ground rules? I do a few paragraphs every other day or so, perhaps not the best match. Kids and job and wife keep me busy. But we could always brainstorm together, and perhaps attract other writers.

Dame Mimi Latet.
Dame Mimi is a woman who insists that she is a knight from a land far away that no none has ever heard of, and while that may actually be true her looks hardly back it up.
While her armor is shiny and protective looking, it only highlights how tiny she is, and her shield and sword are obviously high quality, she can't lift either of them one handed, much to her embarrassment.
What's more, she has never taken off her in front of people, and even without a helmet she covers her face and head with a bandana.
 
Hey guys, sorry it's been a hectic few days. I can't be around every day, but definitely if it's going to be a while I'll let folk know. Life is pretty busy so it's not too easy to schedule. Going back to Uni soon as well.

Feel free to gen/come up with characters. Don't really want to dictate anything to anyone, do whatever you feel will be most fun. I'll leave this up for a bit more interest before doing anything with it, should be able to start on Monday. :)

Hey that's perfect - life is hectic for me too, and this is a very asynchronous jump-in-and-out when the time presents itself kind of hobby.

I can volunteer for starter post if need be. We could always brainstorm a quick concept for initial setting.

March: I presume you have some secrets held in reserve? Fun. And yes: prolific haha.

Leah: like the character concept in your case too. I propose March and I are actually questing to bring you down when we instead us three end up on the same side.
