The vampires who have long been hiding deep within the deep reaching ruby cave system… have begun to become active again on surface, terrorizing small villages and towns on the outskirts of the main city, where the noble King Andolf reigns over the kingdom of Antaire.
Until now, the vampires have only emerged from the dark caves in small numbers to hunt for boar and deer in the forest to drink from, only perhaps to steal livestock where there was not enough wild game to feed their numbers. What has pushed them to emerge and start attacking humans again after so long of not doing so? No one seems to know the answer to this puzzling question.
The king’s bravest knight, who is a renowned slayer of monsters and a small company of loyal soldiers volunteer to travel to the deepest reaches of the ruby caves to beseech the vampire king to tell them what has changed and ask him if he would be willing to negotiate with them for peace… you know, before the chaos reaches the capital.
When the knight does not return after two weeks, he and his company are given up for dead while the king and his men devise another more aggressive plan. One they intend to carry out at their leisure…
The knight’s daughter (MC) however refuses to just abandon her father and arms herself before going into the amethyst caves to search for and rescue her father herself.
MC gives the vampires one hell of a difficult time while she’s down there, beating up guards and luring others into traps… when she is finally captured, she is brought before a throne where it is revealed the vampire king is dead and his far more ambitious and aggressive son (YC) has replaced him as the new king.
MC demands to know her father’s fate, fixing defiant eyes on YC without fear… he is intrigued by her… she is intelligent, capable, fearless and beautiful… he’s been long bored with the idea of ever taking a mate, until now…
He offers MC a bargain, she will agree to accept his immortal kiss and become his vampire queen… in exchange, he will release her father and whatever of his men are left alive… if she also agrees to participate in the wedding night willingly, he will also vow to peacefully sit down with King Andolf to discuss possible ways that peace could maybe be obtained that the vampires will feel does not demean them as apex predators.
