Who am I?
Call me van Helsing, that's my preferred go to across the universe. I'm over the age of 25, happily married, and a huge crafter and artist!
I used to roleplay daily back in 2018-2020, but ended up taking step away from forums. I filled my time with in-game roleplays and TTRPGs like D&D and VtM. Now I am back, and ready to take a crack at all of this again!
Expectations(for myself and for you):
Average Story Experience:
My Characters: I tend to play original, female presenting characters a majority of the time with a strong personality and at least some sort of talent with fighting or magic
Your Character: No true preference
Violence: Usually extreme and occasionally graphic, if a story has violence then lets make it messy!
Magic: Most of my stories will have some degree of magic involved. Whether that is a supernatural element or fire-ball wielding wizards
Time Periods: I tend to roleplay from the medieval to the Victorian era, but this is not a rule; I simply have the most knowledge of this area. I am willing to do my own research to improve my knowledge of a time and place.
Romance: Most stories will have expectation of romance, who doesn't love having their characters fall in love all over again?
ERP: If sexual content will occur between characters, then boundaries and kinks will be discussed (kinks are decided by character, not on a personal basis). They will never be crossed or violated lest ye perish from my inbox. For a clear statement, I do not participate in the following:
Fandoms: I will write in a number of fandoms, but my main interests right now are: ASOIAF, LOTR, Dragon Age, Elder Scrolls, VtM, Warhammer 40k and similar themed genres. More below
Flavour of the Week
Anything to do with dragons. Dragon riders, dragon slaying, dragons that can turn into handsome humanoids. Just, dragons
Current Story Ideas (Feel free to check back here, new ideas may have come to me!)
Hark! Dragons! (A Song of Ice and Fire, House of the Dragon)
Themes: Dragons, lore accurate magic, political intrigue, mystery, violence, arranged marriage, possible enemies to lovers
Settings: Before or During the Dance of Dragons
My Character: A Targaryean with a special connection to dragons
Your Character: Either a Targaryean or equally important house, arranged to wed MC despite not wanting too
Plot: MC was born deformed, her legs crippled and unable to walk far distances, and was quickly ignored by the politics of her family; its not like she could do anything useful. But, she had a special connection with dragons, able to hatch even the longest cold eggs or soothe the fiercest tempers. What she lost physically, she gained in connection to the past. It was enough that she could be married off for an alliance. Despite her wish to remain in the Dragon Pits, tending eggs and petting scales, she is required to fulfill her duty as a lady and marry YC. No matter how much either of them doesn't want it, the alliance forged will be stronger than Valyrian Steel.
For the Glory of Rome!
Themes: Historical, Ancient Rome, Arena Combat, Gladiators, Forbidden Romance, Power Dynamics
Settings: Ancient Rome (Preferably at the height of imperial power)
The Characters: A gladiator/gladiatrix and the noble who patrons them (I am happy to play either role)
Plot: The Emperor is soon to celebrate his wedding, and has requested that week long series of games and battles be displayed at the coliseum. The event will be the mark of the decade, and every resource is being put into making a truly amazing show of it....by killing dozens of slaves, gladiators and prisoners. The noble, a sponsor of the coliseum, wants to find a centre show piece for the celebration and picks up a new gladiator/gladiatrix underneath their patronage for it. All is going well, until another patron is murdered within the coliseum barracks in the middle of the night. No one knows by whom, nor will any of the fighters reveal any information. The Emperor is threatening to pull his support for the event if the murderer is not solved, and thus the noble promises the gladiator/gladiatrix their freedom in exchange for helping them solve the case. Unforunately, the pair begin to grow closer as they unveil layer by layer of the conspiracy before them.
The Telltale Heart
Themes: Occult Horror, Historical, Occult Research, Supernatural, Academia, slow burn, academic rivalry
Settings: Victorian Era Europe
My Character: Hester, a professor with a photographic memory pursuing occult research in an effort to retrieve her stolen heart
Your Character: Another academic with an interest in the occult, a rival to Hester in their studies, lots of free room for character motive
Plot: YC meets Hester at her library after a robbery has occurred. The text YC needed has been destroyed, but with her perfect memory Hester is able to provide YC with the missing information. Upon realizing that both are searching for similar information, Hester brings YC in on her goal to hunt down the man, Simeon, who literally stole her heart. Promising that whatever knowledge and materials they uncover is theirs to keep, so long as she has her heart restored.
Speed Run Ideas!
Just a bunch of quick bits that could be expanded together(Bold for MC)
Monster x monster hunter (angst, enemies to something else, mystery, horror)
Mercenary x Hostage (Rescue scenario, slow burn, traveling, lots o' whump)
A woman disguised as a mercenary x The lord she is in service too (medieval historical, slaying a dragon that isn't actually a dragon, sword fighting, lots of vague flirting, slow burn, angst)

Expectations(for myself and for you):
- Replies will occur at minimum every other day
- Replies will be at least three paragraphs. I like writing a lot (averaging 1000-1500 words), and if you can meet me at the bare minimum we will get along just fine
- ERP is allowed, but will not be the focus of any story. It should only come up in ways that make sense for the story
- Triggers, concerns, and plots will be discussed beforehand
- Getting excited about ideas and characters is required (just kidding, but you should feel excited about your writing)
- Communication is, and always will be, the most important part of any good roleplay partnership

Break it down, crazy style

"Listen closely." Florence crooked a finger in an effortless, slow motion at the young man. He had fallen back, sprawled out and sword forgotten, "No no, closely I said. You won't want to miss this."
He pushed himself up on his elbows, straining to lean in without getting up. The blade she had dug in the ground between them had him on edge, it could move within seconds if she had the mood to harm rather than disarm. Florence smiled, the grin pulled across dry lips and scars but never reached her eyes; those remained dead but for the flicker of hunger that dripped in them. He saw himself in those eyes. In that hunger. Florence sighed, and that crooking hand shot out to grab the loose gambeson and dragged him towards her until he was hovering near her. That damned blade the only distance between them, reflecting an eye of each party in its mirror shine.
"The king says that I should let you live." The words dripped with a thick venom, hatred stuck between her teeth. Was it him she hated? Or was it the king? Florence gave nothing away but that that hatred brewed deep within her. The unarmed man gave a breath of relief, his head falling back for a moment. He snapped back to focus as Florence shook him, "I said listen! The king said you should live. Should."
A cold feeling was beginning to crawl up his spine again. Florence's smile was growing. Now it was reaching those dead eyes. "But what the king doesn't know won't hurt him. And I'm not going to marry one of you simpering bastards who cannot even wield a sword between your time-fattened fingers."
She gave no room for response as she pulled back, her sword and captive following with her. He was utterly to her mercy, and Florence had none. The blade sung as it move through the air as it slided just milimetres above Florence's hand and through the neck of the would-be suitor. His head toppled to the floor in silence, and his body followed soon after as Florence dropped it with a disgusted sneer. Blood pooled across the room, and Florence stepped back to keep her shoes clean. With more love than she had shown any man, she wiped her blade clean with an old, stained handkerchief before tucking it away.
"Now, lets go see about this tourney father was so invested I attend. Maybe the progeny there will at least entertain."
