Jester I’m Synth / Cere!

Hey there! My name is Synth, or Cere, whichever you prefer. I’m a 20 year old computer science major from the Midwest, and I’ve been roleplaying for as long as I can remember. I’m very fond of Sci-Fi, dark fantasy, and general speculative fiction. Some of my favorite pieces of Sci-Fi media include:

Rimworld
Ultrakill
The Martian (2015)
Voices of the Void
Heart of the Machine
Project Hail Mary (2026)

In particular, I am struck by themes of machine consciousness or “flesh in the machine.” To that end, conceptually, Ultrakill is probably my favorite piece of media, even if it’s not my favorite game to play. Eucharistic, cannibalistic, feeling robots made for war but full of emotion speak to me on some core level.

I like bringing other people into my worlds, and worlds I’m familiar with. To an extent that means I’ve often played a sort of DM/GM role both in real life TTRPGS and in online roleplays, guiding characters of others through stories of my creation and control.

On the inverse, I love discovering the worlds of others, and doing the opposite. I also love simple, 1x1 personal stories about romance, and I’m a sucker for some of the classic tropes like enemies to lovers.

A bit of a disclaimer about myself: I love the visceral. I like gut wrenching stories of emotional and physical pain, I like getting attached to characters, and I have a very hard time getting ghosted.

For my pure writing stats: I usually write in 3rd person past tense, and can manage anywhere from a few dozen words a post to several hundred, it depends greatly on the scene and my partner.

All that being said, I’m really looking forward to joining this new community and getting to write with you all.

Second! I bet you're wondering how to start Role Playing and where to go! I think it's pretty fun to explore the forums, and I highly recommend doing so! Most thread homes, if not all, have a pinned post at the top of them to tell you what goes there!

However, the Request Threads are pretty self explanatory; Here's a Link! There's plenty to look through, but you could also build your very own! Tell people what you're all about and get those writing partners! Take your time though; there's never any pressure!
