Hello one and all! I don't typically do intros like this, but as I'm returning to writing after a long time, I thought I'd tip my toe in slowly. I am Sappho, and I consider myself a fairly veteran writer. I have been writing stories in some capacity for over half of my life, with varying levels of skill. I started writing with others online when I was a young teen, mostly fun little fandom roleplays on sites that were dedicated to such content. When I was around 20, I joined a site similar to this one, which appears to have been retired since I last looked at it. I have had a recent influx of creative desire, and I don't have many creative hobbies other than writing. For a while, I deluded myself into thinking I may be interested in writing a book (I am firmly not), but I missed the fun of bouncing ideas off of another person, having the story change completely from what I imagined based on who I write against, and I missed that so very much. I am moving soon, so this is probably the worst time to take on a new-old hobby, but I feel like my brain is swimming with ideas, and it's driving me insane not to try to write some of them out.
As for my writing itself, I've found that I love more than anything writing ensemble type casts against a partner who does the same. Some of my favorite stories that I've helped to create were ones where my partner and myself both wrote for 3-5 characters of various genders, backgrounds, and personalities. Especially in settings like post apocalyptic worlds, which is a longtime favorite of mine, it felt like it gave the story so much more depth than just having two characters alone.
I won't delve too far in this (I never quite know how much to write for these things), but I greatly look forward to meeting some of the lovely people here, and I hope to start some stories soon!
