What is it about?
On the surface, it's about a noblewoman who risks falling from grace when a conman tries to seduce her. But the silent waters of this story run deep once you enter them. A tale of temptation, debauchery, lust and vengeance versus the rules of Victorian Society and religion. Romeo and Juliet meets Dangerous Liaisons.
Where are we then?
They say Paris is best visited in spring, but the spring of 1872 is one of acquired tastes. After being wrecked by war, rebellion, hunger and chaos, it's a city drawn in charcoal. Death and disaster vied for victory the year before. In the ruined capital, the living and the lost either mourn the dead or enjoy the wildest parties, celebrating their survival. It's the birth of the 'Belle époque'.
Who am I supposed to play?
YC is the daughter of an important noble representing the German Empire. While your father's mission is to normalise relations after Germany's war with France ended, YC is tasked with finding a suitable husband amongst the French gentry. But YC, despite being brought up with the demure and religious standards of her recently deceased mother, may have other plans for her life...

Sure, but know this is just an outline. Suggestions and changes to this backstory are welcome. In general, it's a romance with a dark plot fuelled by a dark past.
YC is the rebellious single child of an austere, religious mother and a doting but diligent father. Given your father's work as a diplomat, the family travelled all over Europe, not allowing YC to have many close friends or playmates. Save MC, son of a lady-in-waiting in the employ of your mother.
YC's father and both mothers kept a close eye on their children, making sure nothing indecent would happen: YC was meant for a husband of higher station. This youthful innocence didn't last: while hidden in a closet, they witnessed how MC's mother submitted to YC's father; the adulterous couple enjoying their dark desires with rope and whips. This event changed everything, and so did the games they played. They were caught before anything really disastrous could happen, but the consequences were dire for all involved.
MC and his mother were expelled from your father's entourage. YC was sent to a convent, where strict sisters took on the mission to lead this unruly child back to the ways of moral decency and conduct appropriate to a young lady. After completion of her education, YC returned to her mother in Berlin, who remained with your father in name only. She died in the winter of 1871, and YC joins her father in Paris. Of all the people present at her introduction to Parisian society, MC is the last one she expected to see.

I have enjoyed various forms of roleplay for many years. Text roleplay allows me to hone my writing skills and has already resulted in a manuscript for a novel. I'm working on a second manuscript now, a prequel to the first, where the story of YC and MC takes centre stage. One of my great pleasures in writing is characters taking a different path than I expect. What better way to achieve this than allowing someone else to write one of the main characters? I played this setup once before. We had lots of fun writing it, but didn't reach a satisfying conclusion to our tale. I like to try it again, with some changes to the main characters.
How do you play?
I prefer first person present tense for this story, but I'll commit to whatever you prefer. At some fitting points in the story, I'll insert scenes revealing MC's history through the eyes of the people he met in third person past tense. I'll introduce NPC's as well, but feel free to add your own or take them over. As for plot and planning, it's up to you if you want to be surprised or know about it in advance to add idea's.
I'd like to achieve at least one addition to the thread a day; it's length depending on the actions of our characters. Artwork is available if you'd enjoy it. If you are interested, just let me know by PM, where we can work out details and I will answer any questions.
