Hey guys! Here's a callback! Looking for a group interested in an RP set in Golden Sun's world of Weyard. Not necessarily a fan-fic with existing characters, but preferably all original characters set in the world in a time far removed from the events of the games.

For those who are unfamiliar:
  • Weyard is kind of a flat-earth type world (we could ret-con this detail as it is the only thing I never really liked about the games, but don't have to)
  • The magic system is based on the elements: Earth - Venus; Fire - Mars; Air - Jupiter; Water - Mercury. The magic is called Psynergy and Alchemy. People with the ability to use Psynergy are called Adepts.
  • In Golden Sun, "Psynergy" refers to the innate ability to manipulate the elements directly through one's own willpower, while "Alchemy" is a more complex system that involves using elemental power through the manipulation of special items and rituals, essentially channeling the natural forces of the world through artifacts and not just personal power like Psynergy does.
  • Alchemy is often associated with the world's "Elemental Stones," which can be used to enhance Psynergy abilities, and is considered a more mysterious and ancient form of magic in Weyard.
  • The documented Ancients of the world are known as the following: The Jenei, Exathi, Anemos, & Lemuria.
  • The Jenei were ancestors of modern-day Adepts, and were known for their mastery of Psynergy. A second race, the Exathi, were a non-Adept race of master craftsmen, who gained the respect and friendship of the Jenei, and are thought to be responsible for most of the world's powerful relics, artifacts, and items that are used to channel Alchemy. They crafted these with the help of the Jenei's Psynergy.
  • The Anemos were a legendary tribe of Jupiter Adepts known for their incredibly powerful Psynergy powers, including the ability to fly and see into the future. They are said to have built an ancient city that they raised into the sky, of which the underside is believed to have appeared as the moon. In present times, what remains of this city are ruins known as the Anemos Sanctum, which is sealed shut by powerful Psynergy forces. Modern Jupiter Adepts are thought to be descended from the Anemos.
  • Lemuria is an ancient civilization still thriving in present times, and exists beneath the waves much like Atlantis. Their great civilization is protected by Poseidon, a mythical god-like entity said to be the personification of Mercury Psynergy itself. The entire Lemurian people are all Mercury Adepts, and it is uncertain whether modern Mercury Adepts are descended from them, or if Lemuria was founded long ago by ancient Mercury Adepts.
  • The Ancient Adepts used Psynergy to build 4 "Elemental Lighthouses," one for each of the elements. Elemental Stars, the essence of each element purified and refined into individual stones, were crafted to ignite the lighthouses. It is believed these essences were harvested from the Djinn.

- A Djinni is a spirit-like creature that embodies one of the four elements. They are free-willed and sapient beings. If they so choose to lend their essence, an Adept's powers can be greatly magnified through this symbiotic relationship. Djinn can only exist in their spiritual form when this symbiotic relationship exists between their essence and a source of Psynergy. Different combinations of different elemental Djinn can be utilized by Adepts to achieve powers not typical of their innate element, i.e. A Venus Adept can use a Venus Djinni as well as a Mars Djinni to channel Psynergy not typical of either a Venus or a Mars Adept without the use of Djinn. A Djinni's spirit can be summoned in battle to fight alongside their chosen Adept in times of need, but doing this will render the benefits an Adept receives from them moot until the Djinni has rested.
  • The 3 states of a Djinni: 1) Set (which we will call Linked) - when a Djinni is set, their stat boosts are active during combat, but you cannot summon them. 2) Standby (we can call this Primed???)- Adepts can summon them immediately in battle, but they do not provide stat boosts, i.e. lend their essence to magnify the Adept's Psynergy (also, each Djinni has a unique trait that lends itself to the Adept unless in Standby, i.e. A Djinni might lend its Adept its speed, allowing the Adept to have quicker reflexes, etc). 3) Rest - While resting, a Djinni cannot be summoned, and neither does it lend the Adept any stat boosts.
  • The more Djinn that are "standing by" the more powerful the summon, and different combinations of Djinn will create different summons.

***I am not entirely sure if Djinn should even be a thing in a RP, but we can discuss it OOC.

  • When lit, the lighthouses bathe Weyard in Alchemy, which pours from the heavens and coallesces at Weyard's center atop Mt. Aleph and spreading outward from there, causing Adepts aligned with the same element to become much stronger (and Adepts of the opposing element weaker if their corresponding lighthouse is not lit)
  • If at any given point only some lighthouses are lit, and Alchemy is unbalanced, all sorts of natural disasters can occur or manifest in any number of ways (not necessarily to an apocalyptic extent)

I don't have an actual plot in mind just yet, but we can bounce ideas off each other :)

Adepts, the world's magic users, are aligned with an element and their powers are based off those elements, except all Adepts can use basic non-elemental powers like telekenesis outside of battle. It's kind of like ATLA and Final Fantasy had a baby lol. I'm down for both discussions as well as interest in a RP. Let me know! I recently revisisted the IP and remembered how much I adore these games, the world, the lore, the characters, etc.
