While many would consider Logan a cloistered scholar, he's not afraid to test his inventions himself.

⸻⠀the ability and tools⠀⸻As any good noble family, the La'haerns ensured their son had the best tutors in swordplay, unarmed combat, academics, and statecraft. Despite all this, the only topic to truly ignite passion in the young noble was magic. Initially, Logan absorbed all his tutors had to teach, but he quickly discovered these "experts" had a narrow view of the magical world. So, the young scion experimented with magic and mechanical.
ABILITIES //
Magical Tinkering - Using studying and experimentation, Logan is able to develop strange and sometimes outlandish magical contraptions that combine arcane energies with mechanical functions. This involves a combination of medical ruins, imbuing magical energies, and physically crafting items.
Jerry-rigging - With some quick thinking and fast hands, Logan is able to make rough modifications to items and objects to change or enhance their function.
SPELLS //
Light - Able to conjure a small floating ball of light that follows over his shoulder. It can be temporarily overloaded to cause a bright, blinding flash.
Flame Blast - Conjures an explosive blast of flame that spreads out in an arch.
Alarmed Area - Able to set a ward after spending some time walking a parameter of an area. Anyone crossing the parameter triggers an alarm (either mental or audible). At time of casting, specific targets can be made except.
Detect Magic - Allows the detection and identification of magical energies. This spell can be used to see anything from magical auras and effects to the functionality of magical items.
ATTIRE //
A well-tailored coat with minor embroidery and matching pants, as fitting a noble of his station. Well made enough to signify his position but not so gaudy as to attract attention.
GEAR //
Magitech Arm - Functions as a normal arm, though does not have any sensations. Contains several hidden secrets.
- Electro-Punch - Short barbs can be deployed from the knuckles to deliver an extremely powerful shock with enough power to disable most humanoid creatures. It can be overloaded to cause significant damage to the target but carries a 25% chance of dealing damage to Logan as well.
- Hidden Blade - A foot-long steel blade can be rapidly deployed to Logan's left hand.
- Quick-access tools - Easily accessible tools to perform most tinkering tasks. Some deploy into the prosthetic hand, while others are simply stored in the arm to be used with his other hand.
Rapier - A well-crafted rapier, a gift from his sword instructor after completing his training.

⸻⠀the story⠀⸻Logan was born to Lord Dolan and Lady Sehaella La'haern, minor Nobles in the Khare countryside. As the firstborn son, there were many expectations of Logan, and thus, his education and training began at an early age. His father brought in tutors to give him the skills he would need to one day take over the family's business ventures, primarily dealing with the metal trade. Through his younger years, he learned the basics of history, politics, swordsmanship, and even unarmed combat, but the topic that always fascinated him most was magic.
While still a child, Logan and his parents were out on their estate enjoying the summer weather when a group of wild monsters attacked. The guards were able to push the monsters back, but not before bringing ruin to the La'haern family. Lady La'haern had taken a devastating gash across her midsection, causing her to bleed out in a matter of minutes, while the young scion had his left arm torn off by vicious teeth.
In the years that followed, Lord La'haern became reclusive, focusing on his work, ignoring all else, including his now crippled son. left on his own, with his world crumbling around him, Logan dove into his studies of the arcane. Eventually, Logan discovered limitations to the standard way of thinking about magic. Traditionally, there was no effective way to return his arm to him without the intervention of higher powers. Finding the only way forward was to disregard convention and started tinkering with magical and mechanical. Eventually, Logan developed his most complicated work yet, an arm to replace the one he'd lost. Using a combination of metallic components, magical runes, and energy infusions, the new arm was able to function as a normal one, though still with no sense of touch.
Years later, Lord Dolan La'haern passed away in his sleep, with many believing he had simply given up the will to live. After the passing of his father, Logan inherited the La'haern estate and business but had little interest in them. Logan put his father's trusted steward in charge of running the estates and moved to the family home in Khare proper, where he could continue his experiments and tinkering.
