Mnemosyne
Knight
Hello, I'm Mnemosyne, but you can call my Syne for short. After nosing around on this site for a few days and responding to some other players' request threads, I decided it was about time to post one of my own. (I apologize in advance for the amount of text on this post. I prefer to be very clear upfront so as to avoid misunderstandings later.)
The first thing I'm going to start off by telling you is that I'm a student at the moment, so while I'll try my best to respond as often as I can, if things get really busy for me, I may miss a day or two here and there. If you're not okay with that, we may not be the best RP partners.
Now I'm going to tell you a bit about my requirements for my partners. I know this section seems a bit long, and probably rather demanding, but I'm not really that hard to get along with. I just want to make my preferences clear from the beginning. Most of these aren't hard limits. If you don't quite meet one of them, I'll still be willing to work with you. The exception is the requirements with asterisks (for anyone who may not know, that's this symbol: *) at the beginning. Those are really important to me, and so MUST be met. They're the ones that are pretty basic to all RPs, though, so I don't think it should be too hard.
Now that we've gotten that part out of the way, I think it's time for me to tell you a little about my RP preferences.
And now we get to the part I'm sure you all care the most about: what I'm into.
I also have a few general plot ideas that I'd really like to RP:

- ***First, some basic rules that are common to many RPs. One, do NOT take control of my character. I've had people do it before, and it really bothers me. Second, no one is perfect, so your character shouldn't be. There should be character flaws and things they do that they probably shouldn't. And they aren't all powerful with no weaknesses. It's not realistic, and the RP should be about both of our characters, not just yours.
- Please post at least semi-regularly. I understand there being a day or two between posts, as we all have real lives, but if it's going to be longer than that, please let me know.
- I would like partners who are at least somewhat proficient with the English language. Having a word misspelled here or there won't bother me, but consistent failure to follow basic rules of grammar or to talk in text speak will definitely bother me. I may be 19, but even I can't understand when people 'tlk lk dis.'
- I prefer more detailed and elaborate RPs, so I would prefer my partner to be capable of this as far as post length goes. I'm not expecting a novel, mind you, but I would like at least a paragraph or two a post. One liners won't really do it for me, unless we're in a situation where rapid response is needed, such as a conversation or a fight. I understand that those will naturally be shorter.
- ***If you aren't enjoying the RP, or I do or say something that bothers you, please let me know. I want us to both enjoy the RP, and I have no way of knowing that you aren't unless you tell me. The last thing I want is for my partner to quit because they weren't having fun, when if they'd told me what was bothering them, I could have at least tried to fix it. Also, if I tell you something bothers me, please don't get offended. It's not a personal insult. It just means I want to have fun with it as much as I want you to have fun with it
- I enjoy RPs with lots of plot twists and surprises. I will create those, and I prefer my partner to as well. Having the unexpected come up makes the RP that much better. Also, I don't want to be driving the plot all by myself. I prefer partners who will make decisions too.
- And finally, my last requirement. If you have any requirements you need or want your partner to follow, or you have specific limits you don't want to cross, please let me know before we start the RP. If you don't, I may create a character or plot that doesn't meet those requirements, and if you tell me after the fact, I won't be very happy. I put a lot of time and effort into developing my characters and stories, and every single detail I include is there for a reason, so I don't want to have to go back and figure out how to revise them because you didn't tell me your expectations ahead of time.
Now that we've gotten that part out of the way, I think it's time for me to tell you a little about my RP preferences.
- Being female myself, I prefer to play as a female character. However, I can play male characters if the situation calls for it.
- I'm fine with romance in an RP, but I prefer it when there is another plot to keep the story moving along.
- As far as sex in RPs goes, I'm not particularly good at writing it, but I don't really mind if it does come up, as long as you're willing to deal with me not being very good at it. Also, I'm fine with a little bit of kinky stuff, if that's what you're into, but not too far outside of normal. If you have questions about how far I'll go, you're welcome to ask in a pm.
- If I post a picture for a character, it is quite likely it will be anime style. In case you can't tell from my profile pic, I love the anime style of drawings. However, if you prefer realistic pictures, as long as you tell me before we create characters, I'm definitely willing to do that for you.
- If I already have a specific type of RP going, that doesn't mean we can't start one like it. I enjoy having similar style RPs going, and even multiple RPs based on a similar concept. I enjoy seeing how different RPs based on the same concept can get because of the way different partners interpret and write about said concept.
And now we get to the part I'm sure you all care the most about: what I'm into.
- I absolutely LOVE fantasy/supernatural RPs. They're what I do most and specialize in.
- If I had to pick a second favorite genre, it would be historical RPs. I like old settings, anywhere from medieval to Victorian era to the US in the 1950's. And I especially like combining this with fantasy/supernatural RPs as well.
- I also enjoy steampunk and sci-fi genres.
- As I stated earlier, I do enjoy a bit of romance in RPs, but not as the main plot line.
- As for any genre not listed above, I have no problem trying just about anything. It's just that the ones I listed are my favorites.
- I follow an anime called Fairy Tail, and I would love to have an RP based on it. However: I really like the style/characters, so I may be a bit picky about keeping the RP true to the series as far as the setting/style and any cannon characters. Also, on this note, my second plot idea below is loosely based on the series, but not closely enough that one needs to follow the series to try it.
I also have a few general plot ideas that I'd really like to RP:
- A gamer is playing a dangerous game he/she is really into, when they somehow get sucked into the game and have to figure out how to survive and get back to reality. This is based on an RP I'm starting with someone, but as I stated above, I like seeing different ways a similar concept can go.
- It's a world of magic. Most people have the capability to perform magic, but very few actually learn how to do so. But magic can also bring problems to the every day person's life. And when it does, they call for help from someone who can do magic. Those people are mages, organized into guilds, whose job is to take care of such problems. As I said above, this is loosely based on an anime, but only in the sense of the world/mage guild ideas. The characters and plot lines and such would be different, so there's no need to know anything at all about the anime to try it out.
