"The story about how dad and I met? Are you sure you want that one again?" A small, quiet, dimple smiled nod.

She sighed, "Alright." Her mind raced back-

A shadow fell across her face and then a warm wetness pressed itself to her cheek and her eyes flew open from where she'd had them closed eyes and her arm moved to see a fluffy face snuffling her. She sat up and was greeted by a dark figure peering down at her, back lit by the autumn sun. Her eyes squinted slightly and she heard a chuckle.

She pushed herself up on to her elbows and raised a brow, "Can I help you?"

A scruff covered dimpled smile spread over half of a pleasing face. "I think the question is, can we help you?"

Now her brow arched higher, her hands going to scratch the friendly fluff ball shuffling around her. She was distracted a bit, looking between the two. "Look, I'm not in the mood okay. Your dog is super cute, and I'm sure this is a great way to meet women who like dogs... But the day is too nice to be spoiled by anxious first introductions and inevitable let down. So really, I'm flattered, but no thank you." She turned back to the fluffy face, giving a few more good scratches around the jaw and neck, the dog frisking a bit, and sitting and thumping his tail in expectation of more.

Again that chuckle and the smile spread across to the other side of the standing mans face.

"Well, not to put you out or anything, but I wasn't propositioning you, or letting my dog wander up to strangers as an introduction. I was genuinely asking if you needed something."

She closed her eyes, took a deep breath and let it out slowly before she stood up. He had at least six inches on her, which rankled her for some reason but she put a hand on a popped hip. "Look, like I said, I'm good okay. I don't need anything, but if you keep pressing this, I'm going to have to resort to something drastic."

That smile still stayed on his face, but his brows raised slightly. "Well, don't do anything drastic on my account." He took a step back, signaling the dog, who came over obediently, if not reluctantly, but didn't leave.

He was still silently chuckling, it was infuriating. They were in a crowded park though, and already they'd drawn the attention of a couple a few feet away. She rolled her eyes and sat back down on the blanket. "Just don't make me," she huffed as she settled back down and tried to reenter the joyful calm, the drunk autumn peace, she'd been feeling a few minutes ago.

Again, the shadow.

Her eyes snapped open as he was peering down at her again. She sucked in a breath to scream and finally get him to scamper off, when he spoke and stuck his hand down to her at an awkward angle, "I'm Joe and I usually like knowing the name of a gal before I go around sharing my blanket, or letting her play with Toby."
