Rose Quartz is a crystal gem from another planet deep in space, the Gem Homeworld, where she was cut out of the cold stone to become a soldier. She was built for it, standing at six feet two inches, layered in what appears to be muscle and hard fat. Gifted at what she was created for, Rose climbed the ranks to eventually fight at the side of her ruler, Pink Diamond. Perhaps Rose could have lived the normal life of an average gem if they had never landed on Earth.

Once she began to interact with the humans, Rose Quartz began to…change. She saw value in these peculiar creatures, and eventually, empathy and compassion, disagreeing with Pink Diamond over the morality of their actions. Other gems noticed Rose's behavior, and though some were appalled, others agreed with her, and a great war took place between the rebels and Homeworld when Rose assassinated Pink Diamond. Though they fought valiantly, Rose Quartz and the Crystal Gems were simply overwhelmed by the brutal firepower and ruthlessness of Homeworld, and the few surviving Gems took shelter in an ancient temple. The two remaining diamonds contemplated destroying Earth entirely, but consumed by grief by their fallen sister, they simply left it behind.

Making a home out of the temple, Rose Quartz enjoys her newfound freedom by interacting with humans and repairing the damage left behind after the war.

Karina was born in the forest during a thunderstorm, her mother facing the East, cursing her daughter with the lifelong urge to roam. The babe wailing in the rain never came to know her mother, who died shortly after giving birth, but somehow survived long enough to be found by a passing gypsy caravan. The girl wailing in the mud was cold and damp, but the caravan took pity on her and brought her along with them, slowly growing to love the rather beautiful baby as the years went by. She was given the name Karina, and as time went on, it became clear she wasn't like the other children.

She appears angelic, soft blond curls hanging sweetly around her oval face, its almost platinum color accentuating the brightness of her grey eyes. Dark brows and full, rosy lips complete the image, the only telling sign of her inner power the strange mark around her left eye. As she grew older, the mark began to trail down her cheek, as if a tear was leaving behind a deep bruise. Many whispered conversations with the Grandmother of the caravan were about Karina's wild dreams, and how some of them became reality, and more than a little fear bloomed in their hearts.

The Grandmother claimed Karina as her apprentice shortly after being told of her gifts, and this is when Karina learned she was a Fortune Teller. She spent years learning about and honing her abilities with Grandmother, who openly admitted there was indeed darkness in Karina's abilities. A darkness that eventually consumed Grandmother, who perished shortly after gifting Karina her Crystal Ball and her Mark of Control. Openly blamed for the old woman's death, Karina left the caravan after twenty-four years, using her skills to find her way in the world.

Many years ago, a woman who longed for a child was visited by a strange looking merchant passing through her quiet village, claiming he was a man of science. For some reason, the woman felt compelled to tell him of her plight, and he thought for only a moment before passing her a small burlap sack full of seeds. "Plant these, care for them, and maybe one will bloom. Most likely not, they're all flawed, but you never know." With that, he moved his carriage onwards, leaving the woman bewildered in the street.

Doing as he instructed, the woman cared for the flowers that grew in her garden for three years, losing hope as the time went on and not one of the buds even tried to open. She became so frustrated, she ran outside one night to begin uprooting all the useless flowers, stopping only when her sobs couldn't be contained any longer. The last flower left planted began to creep open, its heart throbbing with a beautiful and rich violet light, which drew the woman's gaze immediately. Nestled within the petals of this beautiful flower was a little girl, not more than three in age.

Genevia was raised by this woman happily, spoiled with a surprising education, learning to read and do simple maths, but as she neared adulthood, her gaze returned to the Knight's training grounds just down the road more than once. With her mother's blessing, the young woman was sent to become a page, and she spent her later youth learning the ways of a Knight. Genevia eventually became an adept fighter, and was knighted while she was still young, ordered to seek out a dark mage and kill him. Travelling with some of her fellow Knights, she had no clue this first quest would also be her last. This dark mage was, in fact, the scientist who created Genevia, and he recognized her as his creation immediately, grinning madly. Slaughtering her fellow Knights, he captured and experimented on her, believing her to be the key of uniting magic and science. Whatever he did to Genevia unlocked something deep within her, and it overwhelmed them both, violet flames pouring from her body as the screams of the spirit world swirled around them, permanently blinding her.

Genevia was recovered by the local Dalish tribe, who took pity on her and helped her heal and adapt to her new sightless environment. The Keeper also taught her how to control her newfound magic, and the former Knight became as adept at being a Spirit Healer as she did a fighter. Genevia now roams about, offering her healing free of charge and occasionally selling her fighting skills to those she deems worthy.

Svanhild was once a powerful shield maiden of the Bear Clan, though she was named after the beautiful swan by her mother, the blond-haired and blue-eyed beauty never wished to remain merely that. Svanhild grew to be six feet three inches, and very adept at wielding Greataxes, which earned her a place on the battlefield with her brothers-in-arms. Favored by her Gods, she went into each fight willing to die in their names, and they rewarded her by continuing to help her live through said battles.

Feeling invincible, Svanhild eventually decided to have a child, sailing alongside its father as he continued to fight in the name of their countrymen. Disappointment consumed her, however, when she gave birth belowdecks and saw how sickly and frail her son was, her pride as a warrior shadowed by her shame as a woman. Handing the boy to his father, she ran abovedeck, not thinking about her decision as she leapt overboard to literally drown in her grief.

As the cold and roiling sea embraced her, the Gods roared in outrage, though a few spoke on her behalf, and a compromise about the fate of this great warrior was reached with surprising quickness. Fitting Svanhild with an enchanted iron choker, the Gods bound her soul to the line of descendants she left behind, cursed to share a body with the first daughter of each generation and seek redemption for her escaping honorable death.

Born in modern day, Marina is Svanhild's current host, though the shield maiden didn't manifest until Marina's eighteenth birthday, slaughtering her entire philosophy class before fleeing the scene. As Marina is a soft and gentle young woman, she struggles with her ancestor daily, even though they've been able to make amends for the past five years. Now twenty-three, Marina actively runs from life, making few friends and trying her best to control the bear roaring for redemption deep within her very soul.

River has always been an unreadable entity, and they like it that way, getting their kicks from playing with people that rub them the wrong way. Since the day of River's birth, their gender has been indiscernible, only known truly to them but they keep it externally ambiguous. Their appearance speaks of this, tall and slim, but with subtle curves in the right places and muscles in others. Their facial structure is hard and angular like a man's, but often expertly softened by strong lips and smoky eyes, alongside long shaggy hair. The way River dresses is a mix of effeminate and masculine as well, their voice just the right pitch and amount of smokiness to cause the same effect.

Their hobbies include reading horror novels, roller skating, and smoking questionable substances at the local bar with the usual crowd. No one knows what River does for a living, but its clear money isn't a concern to them, various gossip drifting around about it. A lot of River's past is unknown, and their personality so chaotic, they're almost a different person to everyone they meet. Only a handful can say they're close to River, who would only agree with a few. (This character is barely developed, would love to build him/her up!)

The Box does not remember when it was created, for it is The Box and only remembers what it has seen with its soulless black eyes and heard with its invisible earholes. Its painted smile is The Box's favorite feature, openly displaying its friendliness and desire to provide companionship. Its stylish upper flaps and soft, underbelly flaps protect the meat and nerves inside the cardboard exterior, which is made surprisingly sturdy by unknown technology and lots of duct tape.

When it speaks, The Box's voice has a monotonous and stilted cadence, for it is The Box and does not quite understand hooman emojis. Its favorite activities are walking on its hooman arms and legs, consuming solid matter, and generally attempting to be things a box cannot be, even though it is The Box. When in danger, The Box retracts its limbs and becomes and impenetrable cardboard fortress, and if all else fails, it will consume the danger whole.

(Preferred genres: Horror, and honestly, if you wanna work with this character in any other genre, who am I to deny you?)

NOTE: Feel free to message me (or post here) if you're interested with working any of these characters! :) I have other OC's as well, these are just my go-to's. I hope we end up writing together.
