Friday afternoon. This day can't be over soon enough. I long for the weekend. It's almost five o'clock. 4.45 PM to be more precise, which means: fruit time for tiny bellies.
"Who wants fruit?" I ask and three loud little voices answer in chorus: "MEEEEE!"
Hence why I'm peeling a red apple at the moment.

"Sam, what's your favorite color?" Robin asks me while I hand out peeled apple slices to eager little outstretched hands.

"The rainbow", I replied with a smile and pickes up an orange.

"That's not A color!" Alex asserts firmly with furrowed eyebrows.

"Isn't it?" I ask while I distribute orange segments evenly, popping one in my mouth so there won't be one left to fight over.

"No, you have to pick one! Like… yellow!" Alex answers, mouth full of apple, and holds up a banana from the fruit bowl.

"Why do I have to pick, when there are so many beautiful colors?" I ask and peel the banana.

"You can only have one favorite", Charlie claims with a nod between banana bites.

"Is that so… anyone wants a green apple?" I ask and holds up the last fruit from the bowl.

"Me, meee, MEEE!" three loud little voices answer in chorus again.

"I think the rainbow it's all colors in one. So, that's my favorite one", I continue and get three thoughtful faces, who quickly devour the apple slices as swiftly as the previous fruit pieces.

"I've always thought blue was your favorite", Robin says and points to my dyed hair.

"Really? Interesting, I've always thought my hair was indigo colored", I say with a grin and pulls my fingers through the short dyed curly hair on my head. Three thoughtful faces become even more contemplating.

"What's… indi?" Charlie asks finally.

"The color that comes before violet in the rainbow."

"My cousin's name is Violet!" Alex exclaims.

The bell above the front door chimes suddenly and I'm saved by the parents, coming to pick up their kids from the preschool. I check the clock. 4.59 PM. I can for once close early, and hopefully be home before 6PM, eat dinner with my partner and have a cozy night before we go to bed. Tomorrow Saturday, we're going to dress up in my favorite color: the rainbow, and show the city and the world during the Pride festival, our love for all colors.
